  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:37 AM) God damn it. Trading Dye now would have made us too happy....we should have known better this year.
  2. QUOTE(minorsfan @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:31 AM) Gameday just stated "Dye left game due to leg injury"... That's just fantastic. Things continue to get better this season.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:29 AM) but they at least talked as to the speculation of the injury, correct? I mean, you didn't know for sure what it was, but you at least knew it was an injury. I haven't heard Hawk or DJ talk about it at all, but then again I just turned it on in the 4th inning. No, they think it's from his dive. Great swing by PK there.....he hasn't done that enough this year.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) The more time that goes by with out anyword on Dye, the more and more I'm starting to think some deal COULD have happened. When there's been an injury to a player during a game over the last few months, it did take a good hour for there to be any word.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:23 AM) Nah I was moreso getting on you for seeming to forget KW is just as at fault as Ozzie is for this year, that's all. I believe you got your sources . And yeah, Buehrle being traded is inevitable, the only question now is does KW actually do well in what we get for him. Just be on the lookout for any reports on teams that the Sox are scouting.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:18 AM) I would bet that, assuming your actually telling the truth about being around these scouts, they think Kenny is doing an even more superb job. Many on here know in what town I get all this information, and that's where I was the last few days. Every person thinks Buehrle will be traded within the next 2 weeks to an east coast team (mets/braves) QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) Nothing on Dye yet. Carlos Gomez got put in as a pinch runner today, so we can cross him off of the list of potential players.
  7. It was funny being around a lot of major league scouts this past weekend....let's just say they think Ozzie is doing a superb job.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:12 AM) Fields does well Sweeney is called up and does well Any young pitchers we might call up do well Receive max value for Dye and Buehrle Maybe get something for somebody else Thome gets to 500 homers and Danks starts pitching more like Mark Buehrle than Neal Cotts.
  9. My guess would be he was removed for precautionary reasons.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:40 AM) I agree with Fathom, in a sense. Meddling around mediocrity doesn't help this team's future. Let's say they do rebound from this prolonged slump and finish .500. Ok, so now we're still without impact players to combat those within the division, Dye and Buehrle (if not traded) are FAs, and there's no possible way anyone can believe we're going to be in contention for 2008. So what's the point? Why waste the energy of expecting victories from a team who, in all honestly, may be better off long-term if they do have a bad season. It's impossible to name many names, but if there are collection of tremendous player(s) available to us in the draft next season -- franchise calibur player(s) -- doesn't it seem more logical to root for losing rather than a meaningless 2007 campaign soon to be followed by a lost 2008? If Williams handles any midseason deals correctly, supplimented with a high draft pick next season, we could be well stocked for 2009/2010. That's what I'm looking towards at this point. Remember before the year when we said that with all of the guys who we have as FA at the end of this year, we better hope this team is either really good or really bad?
  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:30 AM) Supposedly you should never root against your own team or root for injuries. I won't root against the Sox, but I really hope I don't have to hope for both of these guys to have set backs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be watching the game acting like "YES!!!! Miguel Cabrera just hit a homer". I'll still root for the players on the Sox, but I won't be sad if they lose a game like they did yesterday when some offensive guys do well, but they drop the game. I was happy with the game on Saturday night, as Fields showed some massive power and Buehrle did well.
  12. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) Did I hear correctly that Lee got 6 games and the appeal will be heard this week? If he and Ramirez miss this weekend, it could be interesting. Will Ramirez be back this weekend? They have their 3 best pitchers facing us this weekend.
  13. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) I can officially say you are a loser. That's fine....I just know that the worst possible thing that could happen is for this team to go .500 over the next few weeks, and KW and Ozzie and company think they can still win this thing. It's not like we haven't had Pods or Erstad on the roster at some point this season. Even when they were on the team, our offense still sucked. No team with our current bullpen could constantly win. When's the last time the Sox had a winning streak? We've lost 7 straight series.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) I know. Its so pathetic I'm not even mad. I laugh. At least we can say that this season sucked from the very first batter.
  15. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) Thanks for displaying your knowledge of baseball. No GM would consider a top 5 draft pick who was a top 10 prospect in the game 2 years ago with no injuries a bust. Every GM would also love to take a chance on the guy. I'm not getting into the argument of whether he is ready or not, but he has shown some Major League success in the past (3.49 ERA in 28.1 IP in 2004) and his AAA numbers this year are the best of his career in a hitters' park. Don't call this guy a bust. He's been a massive bust so far....that doesn't mean that label has to stick though.
  16. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 11:46 PM) Well the big news from the 2 hour Sox brain trust meeting this afternoon ... KW on the pregame basically says they (the players) want to see how they perform when Podsednik and Erstad get back, to see if the team can go on a run. Konerko was at the meeting, as was Guillen and Hahn and of course Williams. So it does not look like any trades will be made for now. My guess is they will evaluate where they are in two weeks, like July 1st. I can officially say that I'm rooting for this team to lose over the next 3 weeks. Just like this last series, I want to see Fields, Dye, and Buehrle do well.
  17. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) Sometimes, when you know your team has no shot for the playoffs, you do hope for losses. I kinda am right now. You don't root against them, but you hope for entertaining losses. Being a Bear fan, there are a couple of times when the Bears f***ed up their chance of getting a pretty good QB or a perrenial pro bowler(hindsight is 20/20 though) by winning games they weren't supposed to. I normally wouldn't hope for losses unless the season is completely lost and the team I'm a fan of is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but this is a special case because of the people in charge of the organization. If the Sox go on any sort of winning streak, Kenny would probably become a buyer rather than a seller, which would spell disaster for the future of this club. Even if Kenny becomes a seller, I am very afraid that he'll f*** it up, and this team will be a cellar dweller for about 5-10 years. You'll probably think this is too pessimistic, but I'm not going to expect a winning record from the Sox until 2010 at the earliest, and the next division contending team around 2012. We're in for a rough 3-5 years while we rebuild, so hang in there and keep the faith. Fantastic post....describes my feelings perfectly.
  18. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat....but it will never happen. Good grief, I hate this time of year.
  19. I kid you not when I report that the last two nights on Baseball Tonight, Dusty Baker has talked about how great of a player Neifi Perez is.
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) Gotta be Cabrera. He's like Ozzie with a little more power. Doesn't walk much, steals some bases, gold glover, grinder, and he's a small shortstop. Orlando Cabrera has turned into a fantastic player. I used to think he was awful, but he's really flourished batting in front of Vlad.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Sorry, I left for lunch. Scott, Joe, and Jim for starters. Dye had a ton of "treatments" down there as did Paul. What was wrong with Thome? And wouldn't you agree that some of those injuries are just these guys getting older, something that KW seemingly failed to take into consideration this offseason when he brought back/in two injury-plagued outfielders?
  22. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 05:00 PM) Given how Figgins has regressed over the past two years and how poorly Santana is pitching this year, I wouldn't be comfortable with it either. You know what WCSox....I give you credit for actually coming up with the type of trade that KW would like to do. I'm very worried that we'll go after Figgins.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) Ummm... they weren't healthy leaving spring training.. Who wasn't healthy....Pods? BTW, I definitely agree that injuries have had a big impact on this team. We're one of the last organizations that could survive so many offensive players going down due to our pathetic developmental system. I believe that if this team could have had average injury issues all year up to this point, they'd be probably 5 or 6 games out of first place.
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 04:48 PM) Perhaps a more important question...would the Sox be 8 games over .500 if everyone was healthy? No way....the pitching staff has been healthy all season, and the relievers have no significant injuries. No team with as bad of relief as the Sox have could have a good record. We were healthy to start the year off also offensively....and the offense still sucked.
  25. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) If we could get Figgins and Ervin Santana (buying low and hoping that both bounce back) from LAA, it MIGHT be worth it just for the sake of getting younger and filling some holes. Then again, I'm not sure that the Angels would even want to do that deal. Those two for Thome and his good contract? PUKE!
