White Sox vs. Cubs, 6/22/07 (L)
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) Why we we trade our Garland? He is signed cheaply (for the market) and he actually goes out there and pitches well. I don't care who you get, the player that comes back will not pitch like Garland. I think we're getting close to saying "screw it" for this year and next basically, and going through a huge rebuilding process. It wouldn't shock me at all if we have 2 rookie starting pitchers in the rotation next year. I also think we'll re-sign Erstad, and Rowand will be brought into CF. In my opinion, KW probably feels like bringing in Rowand will negate a lot of the fan outrage when Buehrle, Garland, and Dye are gone.

Our hitters are swinging the invisible bat so far today.

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) The buzz in Bridgeport is Garland because he would fetch the most. That's one major part of the reason I've heard....the other is because his best friend on the team won't be back either. Also, the 5 year contract talk is not accurate.

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) Agree kalapse. They have demoted relievers, benched the 2B, and now fired the scouting director. Seems to me trades are next. I think it's interesting that Hawk used a very peculiar voice when he told Sox fans to not be surprised by anything they do. FWIW, I heard something yesterday that we might be surprised at who the first Sox starter traded is.

Erstad injured
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) Just DFA him already. I think it's more likely we'll give him a contract extension soon.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) Do you suppose 27 Ks for Zambrano is a possibility? Just get one stinking hit.

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:25 PM) "Yes but" means no. Just stick with the "yes" because your position is well known. As mentioned, stop trying to deny it. Make your stand and stick with it. There's a reason you just got called out by 3 posters. G. Pratt calls me out no matter what I say about Ozzie....we have an agreement like that.

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) BS. More than once in the last few weeks in your fits of frustration you've said you can't wait until OG is fired. Which is fine, it's your opinion, no problem there. Stop trying to deny it though. Yes, but I've never given the scenario in which I think he should be fired. If the Sox get swept this weekend and lose their 10th straight series in a row, then the manager should be fired.

Just please don't get no-hit by this jackass, that's all I'm wishing for.

I wonder how santo/dorf feels about this.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:19 PM) Erstad hurt. Oh good grief....does this mean we have to wait 2 more weeks to see how this team responds with him in the lineup.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:19 PM) I've heard the opposite, FYI. New information?

White Sox vs. Cubs, 6/22/07 (L)
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:18 PM) I'll say this...you keep making really stupid comments about, "Oh, this team's lost blank of their last blank...SO WHY ISN'T OZZIE OUT OF A JOB!" and "OZZIE SHOULD BE OUT OF A JOB IF WE GET SWEPT!" Because Ozzie's going to strike out 20 times against Zambrano and throw flat cutters up at great hitters, right? I've never seen a manager get so little blame for his team completely going to hell like Ozzie this year, that's all I'm saying.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) yes. You say that alot Actually no, I haven't flat out said that Ozzie should be fired. I've asked why isn't it more of a possibility before, but enough is enough.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) TRADE HIM This will be his last home start with the Sox. The best thing he could do is throw at Soriano next inning, and then hopefully get Zambrano to go nuts and throw at one of our guys.

White Sox vs. Cubs, 6/22/07 (L)
I'll say this....if we get swept this series, not only should the fire sale start, but Ozzie should be out of a job.
-
White Sox vs. Cubs, 6/22/07 (L)
Haha....keep throwing junk up there Buehrle. Every change-up he's thrown is up in the zone.
-
White Sox vs. Cubs, 6/22/07 (L)
Is that like the 5th leadoff homer we've given up this year?
-
White Sox vs. Cubs, 6/22/07 (L)
That was quite predictable. Buehrle's fastball looks pathetic so far, and we kept challenging a great fastball hitter. I hate this f***ing team.

Any chance Fields makes contact vs Zambrano this series?

Milton Bradley DFA'ed by A's
QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:58 AM) Please. If we took on Carl Everett (twice), there's no reason why we can't take on Bradley. Carl Everett is a saint compared to Milton Bradley. The last thing we need to add to this team is someone that can't stay healthy for more than a month.

Mets Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Yeah, but I think we've already screwed the pooch on Dye. We've still got a shot with Buehrle but I doubt the Mets give us s***. Then screw the Mets, and trade Buehrle to the Cardinals for Rasmus, a pitching prospect and Perez.
-
Mets Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) I think it would be funny -- in a horrible sort of way -- if we dealt Buehrle to the Braves and they signed him to a long-term deal. They don't have the money to do it....but why would that be horrible?

White Sox Relievers in Demand?
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) Maybe. Contreras had a pretty good stretch earlier. He's been struggling recently. I think he'll be ok. I'd trade him for anything right now in order to get out of the 20 million we'll owe him for the next two years. His fastball has lost about 5 mph, and his forkball is nowhere near the plus-plus pitch it used to be. The Mariners are looking for starters, and I'd trade Contreras for Jeff Clement in a heartbeat.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
You just get the feeling that a lot of people are going to be really disappointed at the actual players we acquire in a trade compared with the ludicrous proposals we see.
