Buehrle Fest
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) Interesting they didn't even have to go 5. I'm guessing there are going to be some unique clauses involved in it that could make it worth quite a bit. I was thinking they'd go to 4 years, but raise the price (like how Dodgers did it with Furcal). If 4/50 is true, that's an amazing deal. And FWIW, the information I was talking about was that 3 different minor league scouts reported this morning that they asked their teams specifically about whether or not they should continue to scout players for the possibility of Buehrle being traded, and they were told that they absolutely should, and that the ST article was bogus.

Buehrle Fest
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) Score just saying the deal is nearly done to resign Buehrle. You know what I hate during these situations: when numerous media outlets jump on one article in the paper, and then they all report it in different ways. However, I'd assume that the Score has their own people getting information, and that would be good news. Even though I said before that I'm doubtful things are as close as Cowley reported, I'd be thrilled beyond belief if they signed him. As someone just mentioned, this would be a great sign that we're still serious about fielding a competitive team for the next few years.

Buehrle Fest
FWIW, I just heard some information that makes me believe this article is a lot more speculative than it is fact. Let's just say that teams still don't think there's a chance that Buehrle signs an extension before testing free agency.

Buehrle Fest
This would be great news, especially if it's a result of getting rid of Contreras. However, last time we saw a promising article like this, there was a story the very next day stating he was 100 pct going to be traded.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Is Roland Hemond still working for the Sox? If so, he was scouting at the Dodgers/DBacks game.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Good news tonight as Gappard and Billingsley were bad....that only makes the demand for Buehrle go up even higher.

White Sox Winner!
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:08 AM) Just great #1 pick is sliding away, we got the Cubs hot so we have to hear about that s*** and the Brewers are losing. Let's just hope the Brewers play well this weekend. If not, it's very possible the Cubs could be in first place come the ASB, as they get the Nats and Pirates next week.

With Gonzalez showing he can play all over, can we please DFA Cintron or DL him?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) Uribe with a triple! I've seen it all! He's hitting better now. However, I'm not so sure that's for the best, as I honestly believe we need to go a new direction at the double play combo slots next year.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) Why exactly is Cintron, who has some arm issues, playing 3rd base. That .500 OPS with no clutch hits and terrible defense is invaluable.

White Sox vs. Devil Rays, 6/26/07 (W)
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) 49 K's in the last 38 innings for our offense. The most insulting thing to us Sox fans this year has to be that Greg Walker still has a job.

White Sox vs. Devil Rays, 6/26/07 (W)
Disgusting stat of the night: Even after a solid game against Marshall on Sunday, Iguchi has an OPS of. 480 against LHP this season. I really hope we don't even consider bringing him back.

We better pray that Cintron doesn't have a good game.

Jacque Jones to Floridaaaaa
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) He is better than an A ball scrub, come on now. He was brought up prematurely by the Marlins and that has contributed to a lot of his struggles. He is better than Terrero, has similar, if not greater, power (1st ML HR = 493 feet), he is fast, plays good defense, and can become a respectable major leaguer. I'm always accused of praising Cubs players too much...but Abercrombie sucks. He won't make their big league roster.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) I am sure the Wellness Program is a joke. Oh yeah...I find it funny that some people are pointing to it as reasons why steroids can't be blamed. I'm with you though, it's going to get annoying the next few months with the crap wrestling's going to get.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
I've talked to someone much closer to Rocco than anyone on here, and there's a lot of concern that his physical condition has declined so much that he'll never be the player that he was capable of becoming. When you combine that with our other injury issues and the big asking price, I'd stay for away from him.

Chris Benoit...
QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 07:44 PM) Actually, most of their deaths were from drug use more so then they just died from using steroids.. It will be interesting to see if all of these baseball juicers from the last decade start dropping dead in their 40s due to enlarged hearts, etc.

Chris Benoit...
I heard about him hanging himself in the weight room about two hours after the news broke yesterday, but didn't want to start the rumor. I don't think this is a case of roid rage. From the sound of it, Benoit's been a troubled individual for a while now.

Kenny Williams not allowing teams to negotiate with Buehrle
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) This is great news, imo, because it sounds like the Sox still plan on negotiating him this off-season, even after he is dealt. I don't like this line of thinking, as it might lessen the package we'll receive. I honestly don't think there's any way that we can trade Buehrle and then re-sign him after this season is over. I don't really see why he'd want to do that.

Cardinals Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) The more interest the better. Demand + one pitcher = lots of items coming back. I hope everyone jumps on this. If we see an injury on one of the teams we could see the price jump quite a bit. It would be splendid if one of the Mets starting pitchers or Dodgers starting pitchers gets injured. Also, it wouldn't hurt if Gappard gets rocked tonight for the Red Sox.

Mets Interested in Contreras?
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) Any talks with the Mets would begin with Fernando Martinez. Anything other than him and I am not interested in dealing with the Mets. In dealing Contreras? There's maybe 7 or 8 guys I'd consider in order to deal him and his 20 million dollars left and declining strike out rate. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:01 PM) Contreras is a pitcher that throws 93-95, has playoff and WS experience. He would be going to a park that would better suit his pitching style. He may be a little older, but older pitchers are having more and more success. He definitely has value to the right team. Dont sell him too short. He has been slumping, but he still is a well thought of pitcher He hasn't thrown 95 mph in over a year. His fastball sits around 89 mph now, and his forkball is nowhere near the pitch it once was.

Is Jenks on the block?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 05:07 AM) I'd love to get Matt Murton. Hell, if the Cubs think they can compete I'd send Buehrle to the northsiders for Murton, Rich Hill, and Felix Pie. I'd probably do Mmac for Murton and a low level spect. He gives us a legitimate left field bat that projects to be a pretty good hitter, imo. You couln't get either Hill or Pie for Buehrle.
