  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:17 AM) Danks will take some lumps from time to time. He is 22, and is learning on the job. His numbers and his starts sans this one have been great. The team decided to not hit this year, or this kid could be have a few more wins. I like Danks a lot. He's the best reason to watch the Sox right now. However, he's going to keep having to make some adjustments this year as he goes along. I'm just thrilled we get to see him develop and not Floyd. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:17 AM) I missed the memo about our starting staff being the problem. The question you SHOULD be asking is where's our Pat Neshek or Matt Guerrier (although we originally drafted Guerrier, IIRC). Our starting pitching seems to be fading just a touch right now. Of course, a bullpen that allows every inherited runner to score doesn't help.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:14 AM) Wait till it gets warmer outside? Can we still say that? Are we talking about the offense, or are we talking about when Danks starts fading?
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:11 AM) Is this team that bad? Well of course it's not. But that isn't good enough in the AL Central everybody. We are a 3rd or 4th place team in this division unless something very strange happens. Just pray that they either start playing well or they fall 10 games or so behind the Tigers/Indians. The last thing we want to see is a team that can't catch the leaders who won't trade their impending free agents.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:10 AM) With the way this season is going, I'm going to want Hawk's head on the platter first when it's over. What a freaking baby. It can't get worse than the last two months of last season, when every game, he said the following: You know what DJ, this is the most talented team I've ever seen. I can't believe they haven't gelled yet. I've talked to scouts of the opposing team, and they all tell me that you guys will be fine, don't worry. You know what DJ, if it wasn't for the two injuries, Ozzie might be going for his 3rd straight World Series title.
  5. Wow, this might be the 2nd worst outing of the season by a starter. This team needs a kick in the ass. He doesn't look comfortable at all out there....his follow-thru is bad. Good thing Cooper's gone out there to settle him down.
  6. QUOTE(Iguchicago @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:03 AM) That's because hardly anything positive is ever said. It's always like OMG HAWK SAID THIS or OMG OZZIE IS THE WORST MANAGER EVER. I've noticed that 100% of your posts have something ridiculously negative in them ,even if the subject is positive. If you hate everything being said during the threads, then why even make a comment to us? There's plenty of optimists on this site to raise a glass to you, etc.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:01 AM) These games are getting harder and harder to watch, they are just no fun at all. Watching Danks and Jenks pitch are the bright spots in Sox games, as well as watching Thome hit against righties. Besides that, it's an incredibly dull team.
  8. Ugh, Gary Sheffield is officially "back" for the Tigers.
  9. Ugh....no surprise there. Everything is up in the zone. It's ok, he was due for a bad outing.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:59 AM) Hawk when he is pissed is probably the worst broadcaster I have ever heard. Ron Santo is the worst announcer in history no matter what.
  11. Danks follow-thru is off. He's falling too far off the mound to the 3rd base side.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:55 AM) Castillo next year? No, he's lost about two steps and seems lazy too much. I'd rather go younger at 2nd base and try to develop someone for the next 5 years at that position. QUOTE(G&T @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) Pods, but Dye seems to be filling nicely. No, Pods just doesn't swing.
  13. QUOTE(Iguchicago @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:56 AM) You just have to look at every thread on this board and you will find something. You're like the little leader of the bunch. It just gets damn annoying and predictable after every single time. Again, please answer the question about anyone declaring the season over in this thread? I've noticed that about 90 pct of your posts have nothing to do with the game, and just rip on someone saying something negative.
  14. Seriously, does anyone take more strikes and swing at balls than Dye?
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) Somebody needs to tell Hawk that: 1. All hits count, no matter how hard they are struck. 2. The Twins aren't accidentally getting bloop hits. They just do it to us especially because of our lack of defensive range and lack of strikeouts in our staff. Danks will figure out a way to get through this game with a good outing like he always does, but we are in trouble because our middle relief will be a factor tonight. We better get some crooked numbers on offense here. Hawk must have conveniently forgot what Thome's hit was like in the first inning.
  16. QUOTE(Iguchicago @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) I love how the usual pessimistic posters all come out when bad s*** happens, and declare the season over. Do me a favor and quote one post that declared the season is over.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:48 AM) Cintron is f***ing terrible in the field...Terrible. I have no f***ing clue why he's playing today. Besides for looking pathetic against Bonser last time, there's also reports that his surgically repaired arm/shoulder is causing him pain.
  18. QUOTE(SoxAce @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:48 AM) Seriously the umps alone have cost Danks a few earned runs this season. It's getting ridiculous. What have the umps done tonight to cost him?
  19. That's what happens when you walk the #8 hitter. It's going to be fun listening to Hawk whine now. Danks has nothing for the second straight game....we need to score a lot today.
  20. We better hope Danks is effectively wild tonight.
  21. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) I don't mind him at all. He's played well. Hopefully we'll get a FA for CF for next season and Ersty could be in left next year or as a 4th OF. We both know Erstad would never, ever be in our plans as a 4th outfielder. If I had to guess right now, we'll see Rowand in CF and Erstad in LF next year.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:38 AM) What, when Rowand was one of the 3-4 best in the game 2 seasons ago. Brian Anderson was one of the 3-4 best in the game last season. Ya, that would mean superb. In fact I think Erstad has been as good as those two were (or at least very close). See, I never bought into the hype of either of those guys defensively. All three of our recent center fielders are terrible at throwing accurately with anything on the ball, and all of them make too many mistakes for their "billing". Erstad has been fine on defense, but he's nowhere near as good as Hawk, Ozzie, etc. make him out to be.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) One bad read...big whoops. It sucked and it could have bit the Sox but the guy has played superb in center. I know the Mackowiak experience made everyone appreciate anyone that can catch the ball, but his defense is just incredibly overrated right now. For someone that can't contribute anything with his arm, he's made too many mistakes out there. That's already 6 or 7 he's made this year.
  24. Wow, that ball was clearly fair.
  25. Wow, Danks has no command of his curve right now. Hunter's going to be sitting on the fastball.
