  1. Some poor ABs by our 3-4-5 after the leadoff single. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) I actually think thats his fastball. A pitcher who is topping out at 82 just struckout thome/konerko It's been happening all week to our entire team. Just wait until we see an exceptional changeup tomorrow.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) Guessed wrong on that changeup I'd say. Thome just isn't squaring up the good pitches he's been getting to hit. I think his wrist is really bothering him.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Going after Thome on outside pitches. He's not taking the bait ... good strategy. Until then
  4. Time for Thome to launch one.
  5. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) thats usually the case. but not tonight in my opinion He still knows what he's doing. So many of our guys are struggling on even a decent change-up right now. Mackowiak is the first guy that seemed to look for that pitch, and then hammer it.
  6. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) thank god. radke is impersonating garcia out there tonight. way to go rob Radke has pinpoint control though
  7. Garland keeps hanging offspeed pitches in big spots.
  8. Some amazing defense by both sides tonight. Iguchi looks like he has no energy at the plate or in the field.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) At least Pods made the Twins pay for another miscue. Who was jphat referring to last night when he said good posters are scared off of the gamethreads? Jabroni
  10. Nice to get a blooper to drop for us.
  11. We need to capitalize on these errors and get a few runs.
  12. I'm happy that they found the partial tear. This gives hope for Politte that he can rehab the injury and pitch in the majors again. If there was nothing physically wrong, then I don't think he would have been a MLB pitcher again.
  13. Good pitch by Garland...and a smart decision to pitch around Mauer.
  14. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) How does Minnesota continually produce scrub players within their system with odd names who kill us? Cause they play the game the right way. They don't preach homers...they preach moving runners over, etc. This was well documented in an SI article about David Ortiz.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Wow, that's bulls*** From the 3-0 pitch to the 3-2 pitch, that's a huge zone. Even our pitchers look slow in the field now. Nice to see Iguchi standing still and not backing up the play.
  16. QUOTE(loltrain @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) Are Chisox fans annoyed with Brian Anderson's offensive issues? I think they are similar players, trying to work through rookie struggles, Granderson is a bit more experienced and polished which led to his earlier success, but now pitchers have adjusted to him and he is struggling. It isn't just soft stuff away either (although that is his main problem) he just looks worn down and slow batspeed wise. I hope you didn't take it as me trying to rip on Granderson? I played a lot against him growing up, and I'm a huge fan. I was simply trying to get a good fans opinion on what the Tigers fans feel about his strikeout issues this year.
  17. I thought Ozzie said that outside of having Ozuna play for Pods tomorrow, he was going to start his normal 9 for every game of this trip?
  18. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 06:20 AM) Yes, it is very irritating. But we know that it is probably just part of his growth process. Once he can recognize the soft stuff away, he will be alright. He's always had difficulties with the offspeed stuff away....trust me
  19. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 06:17 AM) Look, let's put it this way. I am in no way a troll, I do not hate the White Sox, and there is not a rule on this site prohibiting other fans to join in on the conversation. Let me ask you this: are Tigers fans annoyed with Granderson's strike out issues?
  20. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 05:55 AM) yeah, that's it... Freddy is 38 years old. Outside of steroid use or injury, you don't see big, strong pitchers like Garcia lose 3-4 mph on their fastball as quickly as he did.
  21. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 05:52 AM) yeah, especially when the year's not over and we haven't even started the playoffs yet. How coud we judge Freddy's stretch run, when we haven't witnessed it yet? All his critics are ignorent on the subject. HE'S A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PITCHER!!!!!! When Hawk Harrelson starts criticizing a White Sox player approach, something is definitely wrong. Maybe his birth certificate is wrong and he's really close to 40 instead of 30.
  22. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 05:47 AM) Off topic: Can someine explain how I can find out how many runs freddy gave up in our game four world series victory? I can't find any reference. Please help. Sincerely, A friend in need. What in the hell does this have to do with the "new and improved" Freddy Garcia? Since the very first inning of his first start of the season, he was a completely different pitcher than he was previously in his career. Not only has his stuff gotten significantly worse, but he's been showing some of the character issues that people were concerned about when he was in Seattle. Maybe it's time he realizes that going 6 innings, 4 earned runs every game isn't good. How many runs did Cliff Politte allow in the postseason? That was 2005....that doesn't mean s*** in 2006.
  23. The sooner Freddy is off the team, the better. If he had a different manager than his family member, he'd either be on the DL or traded by now. If you look at Freddy's start tonight, he gave up a run in the situations you don't want to. In the first inning, when your team gets the lead, and when your team fights back to tie the game.
  24. I don't know if Ozzie has lost his ability to do this, but I wish someone would tell these guys to go out there, have fun, and play with energy. They seem tight again, and that leads to a lot of overswinging at the plate. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 03:05 AM) If anything, Ozzie should have had a RHP ready for Cuddyer if he didn't want Cotts to pitch to him. Well said. This way, if he gets on, you can walk Morneau intentionally. If only Morneau was Matt Stairs, we'd never face him.
