6/2/06: Rangers @ SOX
A near communication error in the outfield. It was the same thing that happened between Mackowiak and Dye last week.

Garland's control is going to make him put some pitches right down the plate.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Looking at Loe's splits, he's had a 2.79 ERA in 5 away games this season so far, and he's only given up 7 HR's for the season. This may be a tougher matchup than we may have anticipated. He has a very quick, funky delivery.

Am I correct....did Hawk just say that Thome pulled his quad? If true, that will likely result in a DL stint.
-
6/2/06: Rangers @ SOX
Comcast said it's a strained quad, and Thome was walking very gingerly tonight.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) SOB, when it goes bad it all goes bad. We need Thome to be healthy for next week. He'll almost definitely miss 2 games in this series at a minimum.

Yep, Thome is day-to-day with a strained groin. AJP is batting 3rd tonight.

Where is the heart???
Questioning a team's heart or chemistry is the dumbest thing ever in sports. If a team wins, people think they have heart/chemistry. If the Sox held on to win after Dye's homer, people would be saying how much heart we showed.

Bullpen Armageddon White Sox Loser
QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) prior to this win, they had lost 4 in a row to the indians and yanks So? Teams go on losing streaks. It doesn't mean they don't have a winning formula right now.

Bullpen Armageddon White Sox Loser
The Tigers really remind me of the 2005 Sox so far. Great starting pitching, amazing relief work, and a never-say-die attitude.

Haha...just a great night for Sox fans.

Bullpen Armageddon White Sox Loser
BTW...our 8-9 hitters were 1-19 in the last 3 games.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:24 AM) I just want to know what happened after the 11-0 win? Did Cleveland sack up or did we somehow turn comatose? Welcome back to the pennant race, Tribe assholes. Did people really expect the Indians to be a .500 team all season? They've had a lot of injuries to their entire pitching staff, and they've got their guys back healthy. Their hitting is AWESOME, especially if Broussard and Blake keep it up.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) Several guys at Charlotte have pitched OK. I don't understand why they don't give Phillips or Lopez or Tracey a chance. The hitting in AAA this season is AWFUL. Most of the team ERAs are in the 3 to 3.5 range. Don't get fooled by the ERAs you're seeing from these guys.

QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) Well, at least we're going home now. All we can do tonight is hope that Mariano Rivera can close it out against Detroit. He's unavailable tonight.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:11 AM) I really think where they miscalculated was thinking McCarthy could fill Hermanson's role. He may yet but it's not been promising thus far. Exactly...our biggest problem is the lack of a righty set-up man. I know people are going to be jumping off bridges tonight, but I think we should be thrilled with where we are in the standings, considering the way the season has gone so far.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) Perhaps our pitching isn't as amazing as everyone made it out to be during the pre-season. Which is why people should really appreciate the way they performed last season.

QUOTE(S720 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:05 AM) Everyone in this site knows that you always blame everything on Ozzie. It goes back to last year. If McCarthy can not handle the heat, then he has no business being on the team. He really STINKS so far! I think I've only really blamed Ozzie for one loss this season. I have no problem criticizing him, but in the end, it's up to the players to win or lose the game. With the mojo this team has, or lacks, right now, we just don't have a chance against a team with momentum like the Indians.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:03 AM) Not a chance in the world. Yep, he's pretty much untouchable. They'd be more likely to trade Donnelly....but I don't think the Angels will conceed anything.

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:02 AM) if the scrubs keep playing the way they have, how bout scott williamson? He might be one of the most realistic possibilities. I think Roberto Hernandez could be a possibility.

Look at the three relievers the Tigers have used tonight. If you add up their ERAs, it would still almost be our best reliever.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) another starter who did OK in the pen: Gagne. There's a huge difference with some of these closers mentioned. These were guys who were permanently moved to the bullpen either due to injury or lack of pitches. Don't forget that we've already yo-yo'd McCarthy this season, as we had to shift him from reliever to start back to reliever. In the end, it doesn't matter really.....this bullpen is atrocious, and he's just another one of the culprits.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:56 AM) Buerhle, Cotts, Smoltz, Eck . . . Those are all totally different situations. The Phillies did that with Ryan Madson, and I'm pretty sure he's getting rocked now.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) Right. You know better than our staff. Forgot about that. Um....he said it himself already this season. Don't worry, it was only a direct statement. Trust me, I'm not making excuses from him. His pitches have been up in the zone seemingly the entire year, minus the first 2 weeks of the season.
