QUOTE(Toto Testosterone @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) 2 months? Try 15. If only Ozzie's managerial ineptitude was limited to his Dusty-esque treatment of Duque - except, Dusty grossely mishandled Prior, a young & then-healthy stud not a 45 year old cripple; and it's not as if Dusty had Jenks, Cotts, Polite, Hermanson, Bajenaru and (since-may, anyway) Vizcaino at his disposal...... then the Sox would be in GREAT shape. Alas, Ozzie has failed in just about every sense, including what was supposed to be his only strong suit - ie. kicking ass and forcing people to, among other things, stop blatantly swinging for the LF fence, Uribe and Crede in particular. His failures are well-documented and most of them were FIRST-guessed, too. Trust me, I never liked Ozzie's managing. When I mentioned the 2 month aspect, it was just to state that I disliked him even before we started struggling.

If the White Sox blow this lead and don't make the playoffs, this season will have harmed this organization a lot more than any 81-81 season could have ever done.
-
If Ozzie starts Duque again, you're going to see an unbelievable backlash against the manager by the fans and the media.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) f*** YOU OZZIE you have got to be kidding me. If he starts next, I dont know what the f*** I am going to do. This is insane. Not even the biggest Ozzie apologists will be able to justify Duque starting again. He's the worst manager I've ever seen, and I was saying that 2 months ago. He's done nothing but support my feelings lately that he's absolutely clueless and needs to stop favoring certain players.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) I suppose you'd be a better hitting coach, eh? Why don't you stop questioning people that clearly know what they're doing and have us with the BEST RECORD IN THE AL?! The negativity here blows my mind sometimes. It's frightening. If you know so much about baseball, then why aren't you managing? -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) From the looks of it, I sure am sorry I couldn't watch that game.... Instead I had a very nice time at my daughter's soccer game. Her team lost 2-0, but they tried hard and had fun. She had a few scoring chances, but the goalie was pretty good and made the saves. It's too bad the opposing team's coach played that goalie, and not the veteran goalie on the bench who earned the right to play because of her performances in recent years before she tore her ACL. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) It's not choking to lose a game to Santana. It is choking to lose 2 of 3 in K.C., or to be swept at home by the Angels. It would be choking to lose 2 of 3 in Minnesota when you need wins. Choking, collapsing, fading, struggling.......who gives a s*** what term you use, this team is on the verge of BLOWING a 15 game lead. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) If that Royals series doesnt' make you wake up and smell the coffee...nothing will. It's more than just that. Hawk was being negative during that game well before there was any hint of the Sox blowing that game. I've noticed that DJ seems to have a big problem with Ozzie lately. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) If El Duque starts again, I'm done. If he starts again, then Ozzie Guillen deserves to be fired, and there's going to be a lot of people banned from this site for stating the obvious.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) Farmer just said "If the white sox are going to go to the playoffs they will have to earn it" Well the announcers have given up. Something happened with this team in the last few days, and it is reflected in how disgusted some of the White Sox personnel seem to be. DJ, Hawk, and Farmer have been noticeably pissed off about things. I don't think you're going to hear Hawk start to praise Ozzie for his great managing anytime soon. -

Might as well put our lead 1/2 game less than it is now, cause we won't beat Santana next time we face him. -

QUOTE(Allsox @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Yep, Ozzie owes to the TEAM to not never start El Duque the rest of this season....This was a big game and he flopped big time.... He owed it to the team not to start him today, yet he still did.

QUOTE(Allsox @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) Ya know, I never wanna see the Sox have the bases loaded with nobody out EVER again....They find almost every way not to score a run (Not counting the opposition making an error like last night)....C'mon Ozzie! do a f***ing squeeze, something! It's called not being a very good hitter. Instead, the Sox hitters press too much, and rarely try to just get a run in and the runners over. Of course, this situation was a little different. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) I hope they try something different against Santana next week. Santana's ERA against the Sox his last 7 starts is less than 1.00. Here's the thing.....this is the type of game where Pods should have been starting. Just as I got mad for Ozzie keeping Pods in for a situation where you needed someone up who can drive runners in, you need someone starting in a game against Santana that can try to get on and create a run somehow. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Tomorrow will be the big game. Need a 3.5 lead going into the Indian series. If we can take 2 of 3 there, we'll be alright for the season. Absolutely. Not only would it be nice to have a big enough lead that if we get swept, we're still in the lead. But also, it would be nice to have a big enough lead that if we win 2 out of 3 vs Cleveland, we can be in the driver's seat again. Good stuff today -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) So out of Buehrle, Garland, Contreras, and Garcia, which pitcher do you pull out of the 4 man rotation that we'll probably use in the playoffs to insert McCarthy? McCarthy won't start in the playoffs. If you think he will, you obviously don't know Ozzie. -

QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Fathom: I agree with you. Sit Duque and let BMAC take his place. There is no way in the world I will start Duque in the playoff. Perhaps, BMAC can be Beckett version for the White Sox! Duque starts another game, and we won't be making the playoffs. The guy has had plenty of chances, and he's blown them all. His ERA is 5.24!! -

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) will somebody please start a poll to see who will win the division...SOX or Indians...right now i really believe it is going to be a tie at the end of the year & of course we lost the coin flip so we play the tiebreaker in Cleveland. The way this year has gone the loser of that game will miss the playoffs & the NY Boston WC will get in. Don't worry, we'll have Duque ready to go for the tiebreak game!
