  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) i think he has a better chance than duke Who the hell would want Duque at about 5 million next season?
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Why? Count has had a really nice year. I can guarentee Count is with this team unless we're getting a stud in return. With the weak FA crop this offseason, and the Sox offensive needs, Contreras is easily our best trade chip. Trust me, I'd rather get rid of Duque...but that would do nothing for our team in regards to getting talent in return.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) I would not rule that out at all. However, I believe KW is going to rekindle some talks with TB or MIL, and Overbay or Huff will be on the Sox next season. I just think that Furcal is going to get a ton of money from a Chicago team....and he'll be playing SS for the Cubs. I think there's a very good chance we trade for Overbay if Konerko leaves town. I'll be shocked if Contreras and Marte are on the Sox next season.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Furcal will be our 2 hitter next year, imo. I'll guarantee that the Sox don't sign Furcal. Iguchi is our 2b, and Uribe is our starting SS. It's the 3b spot we need an upgrade, and we're not going to stick Uribe at 3b.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Best thing I see there is no Everret. Sit his ass on the bench. Yep....about 5 games too late. I also serverely disagree with the plan of putting McCarthy into the game as a long reliever. If he's going to pitch, it should be as a starter. No reason to put him in a situation where he doesn't have a lot of experience just because Duque is washed up.
  6. I'm sure happy the Bears took a RB in the draft instead of another WR to compliment Moose. He's the only WR that can get open.
  7. I'll gladly take my chances against Escobar or the rookie instead of against Colon. This Sox team isn't exactly a terrific hitting team against top fastballs.
  8. We'll see Marte frequently this series with G. Anderson on the Angels.
  9. Big series this weekend, but as long as the Sox don't get swept, no reason to really panic if we lose a few games. I'm not going to be in the game thread for the next two days, so I'll say it now "PULL HIM OZZIE!". Go White Sox!
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:49 AM) You guys are missing the thing. If the Indians win than the Sox would probably play the winner of the AL West (I'm guessing they'll have the worse record of the division winners) and not Cleveland in the 1st round. I don't want to talk for everyone, but I'm pretty sure people were aware of that concept. For the time being, I'll root for the Sox to win every game, and cheer for the Indians and every other wild card contender to lose. Lets go Johan!
  11. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:46 AM) We could easily get our asses kicked by Cleveland. Hopefully no bashes you for this comment, but it's definitely possible. The Indians are playing sensational baseball, and even if it was against subpar teams, it has given them a TON of confidence. This isn't the same Indians team we beat up on earlier in the year where guys like Blake, Perralta, and Boone were automatic outs.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) I'll worry about who I'd rather see in the playoffs when we officially clinch the central. Best post of the night!
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) While it obviously works both ways, depending on your glass half full/half empty take, would it be good or bad to meet the Indians in the playoffs? While we have seen there pitchers alot this season, they have seen ours just as often. Would you rather see someone that you have already seen 19 times, or only 6? I'd rather face the Yankees. Indians hitting is ending up to be just as good as the Yankees, and the top Indians pitchers do very well against the Sox (C.C. and Millwood). Not only that, but in a long series, the Indians have a lot more bullpen depth. And no, I WON'T SAY "GO INDIANS"! We're still in a pennant race.
  14. I think the Indians are the best team in the AL out of all the wild card teams. However, the bigger their lead in the WC, the bigger the Sox lead is in terms of making the playoffs.
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) If you've posted it in the game threads, I miss it. I never read 'em... I haven't seen you write it elsewhere... I just went searching in the top of the 9th. I couldn't remember the last time we were down by a run and I actually felt like we could come back, so I dug through the box scores. JP Howell threw absolute garbage tonight. Disgusting loss. Yeah, that stat was my battle cry all of August saying we needed offensive help. I think the thread was entitled "Disturbing stat". Good research though, and it is very disturbing.
  16. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) JP Howell follows the path of Douglass in dominating our club with an arsenal of junk. Hawk even pointed out he dominated our team with two mediocre pitches. You can't even suggest his command was superb because he walked 5 batters. Next week, I expect 4 runs off this t-ball stand. It sickens me to watch these games such as tonight and wonder how the hell he managed to pitch well against our club. A good center fielder and we probably don't score at all.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) But if you want to jump off here's a starting point..... The White Sox have not come back from a deficit of more than 1 run to win a game since July 30th. -- I'm not talking about 2 runs with one inning to play either. No, if you've gotten the White Sox down by two runs at any point in the game in the last six weeks, you have yourself a victory. JULY 30TH!!!! You're stealing my stat!!!! The last comeback was that Orioles Saturday game when AJP hit the 8th inning homer.
  18. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) Their gone in the 9th like a sloth in the night We're not a very good late inning hitting team in close games since the ASB. Thankfully, we've been able to jump ahead to early leads (and then barely hang on).
  19. 8.5 game lead. I'll take 2 out of 3 any series, but it would have been nice to see some life in the offense the last two games.
  20. We'll be facing Howell next week. Hopefully he'll be too busy thinking about his HOF speech that he'll struggle.
  21. All 2 thousand people at the game sure do seem to be trying to pump up our offense.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) This would suck, if we hadn't just won 7 in a row. But we just won 7 in a row. I completely agree. It's just so frustrating that the Indians are still within distance of the Sox after this great stretch.
  23. Hamstring problem for Widger. That's got to be painful for a catcher.
  24. This is so so so ugly tonight. The offense, outside of a few plays, seems completely lifeless.
  25. I'm sure Macdougal will look unhittable, even though the Indians were able to light him up a few weeks back.
