  1. Good job Ozuna! Great to see McCarthy get past the 5th inning with the lead.
  2. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) didnt chase the 2-2 breaking ball the pitch before Exactly....go right back with it, and he's likely not expecting it. My comment had more to do with questioning why any pitcher would throw a 3-2 fastball to Sox hitters. Soriano is similar in regards to chasing the righty offspeed pitch.
  3. This isn't a shot at Widger, but why would you ever throw Soriano a 3-2 fastball? He'll chase anything close. With a 5 run lead, it's understandable though.
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) Paul has been awesome since May. Horrible in May. Decent in April. Yeah, I would have hate to see our offense the last few months with PK out. His presence in the lineup is severely underrated.
  5. QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Atleast the other base clogger hits for average. PK doesnt do that. Although I would gladly take the 2000-2002 Paulie. He hit for average in those years. Now all he does is hit for power. Yeah, he does hit for power, and is one of the best in baseball at it. Why don't you ask Reds fans how they feel about Casey's power? Casey is a great guy, but I'll take PK.
  6. QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) A ten pitch strikeout for PK, possibly the most overrated player on earth. Whatever he asks for in the offseason, he should not get it. He is the old team, we need someone like Sean Casey to represent the new Sox. Great, one base clogger for another base clogger.
  7. I think we matched our total for the whole month in terms of getting a hit with a runner in motion this inning. Keep 'em aggressive Ozzie.
  8. Way to pick us up Rowand!! Huge run and momentum swinger.
  9. Ugh. PK was too busy trying to pull every pitch in that AB. We need to keep the momentum here.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) In Hawk's world, Pods and Ozzie can do no wrong. A sliding catch and he wouldn"t have scored? Give me a break. Good to know I wasn't the only one. Pods would have scored standing up. At least Hawk is criticizing him now.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) WEll. It hasn't been routine at all this year, but I don't want to say nothing about that. I agree, but all he has to do is hit a grounder, and it's a likely DP.
  12. Am I wrong, or would Pods have been easily safe at home if he tagged up?
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Steal with Iguchi. Sandy's not gonna throw anyone out. Yep, and we're just playing into the routine PK DP if we don't.
  14. How does Hawk figure Pods would have been out? Mench took about two seconds to get rid of that ball.
  15. Are my eyes deceiving me? Well done 1-2 hitters....now we must score at least one run. Everett's taking some good swings.
  16. I'll be quite disappointed if Pods gets caught stealing. I don't remember Sandy ever throwing out a runner with the Sox.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) He's also been a lot more patient ever since his sessions with Hrniak. I think he's on the brink of getting to last years form and let me tell ya, that would be a major upgrade. For some reason though, he's lost his power.
  18. It would be so nice to see the offense pile on runs one of these games.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) I'd say we've just been playing like absolute s*** for the last two weeks. We built up the lead so nicely when we were playing well that we still got a nice cushion after playing like complete s*** for the last two weeks. You don't call a team dead when they've been damn good all season minus a few weeks. Is the offense bad right now...hell yeah it is but they'll hit better I'll guarantee that. The thing is every team goes through ups and downs, right now we're playing awful but we'll get out of it and soon. Basically, we gave ourself a great cushion in case of a prolonged slump. Well, we've had that slump now, and we still have what most of baseball would be considered a comfortable lead. Of course, if we struggle the rest of the season, we won't make it. Not too many teams deserve to make the playoffs if they struggle the last 2 months of the year.
  20. I have hope that Uribe's new leg kick is helping him see the ball better. He hasn't been chasing as many bad pitches lately.
  21. With the spin on that ball, I was pretty certain that was going to eat up Uribe. That grounder definitely would have went 5-hole on Valentin.
