I never thought I'd see the day where I'd rather see Everett bat righty than lefty. His swing seems to be a lot shorter from that side of the plate.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) He's working at a Buerhle-esque pace. Pitching, heading right back to the rubber, usually waiting on the batter instead of the batter waiting on him. I've never seen him work this fast. Maybe it translates to him thinking less. Also that he's not shaking anything off. Batters have not much time to think at all. The fewers runners to reach, the quicker he'll work. He still seemed to take forever to pitch when someone got on base. I think the key to Contreras has been his ability to get ahead in the count with his fastball.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:39 AM) The Count is not afraid to throw a strike tonight. That 3-2 pitch was a very important play in this game.

That Anderson kid is awful. Send him down, he's not ready for the show!

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) He was at less than 95 pitches, IIRC... So if you're in the playoffs, you'd let Duque pitch into the 8th inning even if his pitch count is low? I would hope Ozzie has more faith in our bullpen than that.
-
Damn, that ball looked it was getting over his head. Lack of execution costs us another run tonight.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:33 AM) Wasn't Hawk talking how Ozzie was more concerned about "the big picture" rather than that particular game, yesterday? Because now he's saying they only worry about today. Haha, yes. I still want to know how the big picture is effected by letting Duque pitch into the 8th inning?

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) Well, f*** the Reds. Maybe they should take a look at the standings before putting up an article about another team losing. Well, Chicago does keep losing. They're almost tied with Cincinnati in terms of their record.

Dye looks phenomenal at the plate. I've always said that he's the key to our lineup, and not Mr. 19 RBI.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) If it got to the point where Griffey was asked to accept a trade, his agent certainly would know about it. He also said Griffey told the Sox he was flattered, that would require communication, someone other than Bruce Levine certainly would know and would have reported this development. No one has. I'm sorry, but Levine himself staked his reputation to the Sox signing Omar Vizquel. You can think its plausible and it may be, but I'm not buying it. I think he jumped the gun and realized it, so he tried to squirm his way back. I still want to know the last time Levine has some actual "scoop"?

Hopefully, this will put the Griffey Jr. rumors to sleep. The realist side in me says it won't, and Mr. Baseball Insider will continue to say there's a chance.

PK looking slower than ever on that grounder. And Milkman.....that would make for a good mad-libs.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:15 AM) When Contreras doesn't have that deer in headlights look on his face, he is dominating. I agree. The thing with him is that you can never get comfortable that he has it in cruise control. He just needs to keep getting the first batter of the inning out, and avoid the stretch.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) Pitch count? He is

I can't remember the last time Contreras struck out two straight batters on his fastball. Most of his strike outs usually occur with the forkball.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:07 AM) How is it the White Sox were allowed to talk to Griffey? Wouldn't that be tampering? Levine is full of s***, Griffey's agent was on Fox and said he knew of nothing going on. Yep. To me, it sounds like Levine might have received some overly optimistic information, and was then told something different. Until I hear the Reds ownership is willing to trade him, I'm not going to believe anything will happen.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) f***, let him right off the hook, basically. Yeah, feels like we let a situation slip away where we could have really put Seattle in a giant hole. I do agree with Ozzie letting Anderson swing away though.

QUOTE(That funky motion @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:07 AM) There no way thats Uribe's fault. With that arm in right he can't get to far from the bag! The thing is, if you saw the replay, he was about half way when it landed. He was likely going to be out either way. And trust me, I wasn't basing that statement on just one play. His SB/CS ratio on the Sox is less than 40 pct.

Juan Uribe = worst base runner in baseball

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:03 AM) Since when do we have an offense??? I'm just happy we're getting to Pineiro. He has nothing. I was very disappointed we didn't light him up at the Cell a few weeks ago.
-
Holy cow, is that a run scored without a homer? Good job...keep it up.
-
Excellent execution by Blum. Crede who? I sure didn't miss the pop up in that situation.
-
QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) going back to the 3 hole...other than grif....are there any real possibilities out there? Not sure who has cleared waivers. We just need someone in the 3 hole that can produce without having to hit homers.
-
Good play by Blum. That ball might have knocked Ozuna into the outfield.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) Wow, bad. We could use a real 5-hole hitter, too. We have a number 5 hitter....but he's batting 3rd.
