  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) How do you know what I look like....... Wouldn't you like to know.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 08:27 PM) Bring it, Little Man. Ha, I outweigh your ass by 50 pounds or so. Perhaps you should try picking up a weight first before making threats.
  3. Since both players are still under full team control (not yet eligible for arbitration), they are offered minimum or near minimum contracts that are accepted. I guess formality is the best way of putting it but the Sox were at no time at risk of losing these players. Same goes for the other 20 or so players they signed to 1 year deals today. I'm sure there's much better ways of explaining it than this.
  4. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) Does anyone know if Spring Training games are archieved? FSU is playing the Phillies tomorrow and we're trying to find out if it will be arc'd or not. Yes, all games that air on MLB.tv are archived. You can go back and watch Spring Training games from '05 if you'd like. The only problem you'll run into is if the game isn't being played on mlb.tv. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) Kalapse, give me your MLB.tv login. I demand it, or risk banning. Pfft. I demand monetary compensation b****. You don't have the balls to ban me.
  5. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) I'm hearing too easy to hit homeruns (ie MVP) True??? I'm hoping not, the one thing that sucked about MVP series, espeiclaly with the early installments... way too easy to hit HR's. Most versus games turned into a softball sock 'em game. Well in the first game i played I hit 2 HRs and that's while still trying to get used to the controls. You can always screw around with the sliders though, so I'm not too worried about that. One thing I love about this game already is the player salaries. They actually appear to be correct for once, Pods is making $2.9M, Konerko $12M, Pierz $5.5M. Awesome.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) In Charlotte there's a 6'1" 22 year old lefty by the name of Jerry Douglass AKA John Danks there's also a 24 year old 6'4" righty by the name of Nate Martin AKA Nick Masset. There's also another pretty good minor leaguer named Matt Spivey, he's 6'2", 170 lbs, 26 years old and right handed. He seems too good not to be someone but I really don't know who it could be. Ralph Vaughn = Robert Valido 28 year old catcher Barry Dawkins? 29 year old outfielder Bill Gordon? 26 year old outfielder Jim Simmons? They're all rated in the high 60's, which is higher than Anderson, Fields and Sweeney.

  8. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Is the scoreboard blue? Sadly, yes. They did a pretty poor job of replicating the Cell IMO.
  9. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) Looks like somebody over at 2k sports has a grudge against AJ. They are based out of San Fran I think LOl. At any rate, it looks like it should be easy to tweak AJ's rating, jsut moving strikeouts and plate discipline up to B/C and he shoudl instantly become an 83-85 Yeah, I'm still in the phase of fixing player ratings, I've played one game so far and I can already tell the controls are going to take some getting used to but there's some pretty cool features that have already impressed me such as the batter's interface and the way pitches break (much more realistic than previous games.) The Cell walls are green and the alternate jersyes do have the white piping.
  10. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) I'd be willing to bet that Hall's ratings are better than A.J. soley from defensive ratings...but I havent looked yet. Rowand at 88 seems to be a bit high though Key Ratings: Pierz: Plate Discipline: F Strikeouts: F (such a crock) Hall: Plate Discipline: C- Strikeouts: B Hall is incredibly average defensively is basically all C's. Pierz gets a B- in Range, B in Anticipation, B in catching, B+ in Arm strength and B- in Call Game with the rest being C's. So it's not defense. They both got F's in speed categories and walks.
  11. Some curious ratings on this game. (Player) (Overall rating) Buehrle - 92 Vazquez - 89 Contreras - 86 Garland - 83 Floyd - 71 Bobby Jenks - 88 MacDougal - 75 Thornton - 69 Andrew Sisco - 67 Boone Logan - 65 Sean Tracey - 64 David Aardsma - 63 Konerko - 100 Thome - 100 Dye - 100 Crede - 94 Iguchi - 89 Erstad (FA) - 83 Podsednik - 82 Uribe - 81 Hall - 80 (why?) Pierzynski - 79 (why?) Cintron - 78 Mackowiak - 73 Ozuna - 71 Anderson - 64 Fields - 63 Owens - 60 Sweeney - 60 Terrero - 60 -others- Garcia - 87 Rowand - 88 McCarthy - 80 Team Rankings 1.) Yankees (All 5* ratings) 2.) Mets 3.) Red Sox 4.) Angels 5.) Dodgers 6.) Tigers (Offense: 5*, Defense: 4.5*, Pitching: 4.5*, Speed: 2*) 7.) Cubs (Offense: 5*, Defense: 5*, Pitching: 4*, Speed: 5*) 8.) Phillies 9.) White Sox (Offense: 4*, Defense: 3.5*, Pitching: 4.5*, Speed: 1.5*) 10.) Athletics 11.) Braves 12.) Cardinals 13.) 12. QUOTE(effectivelywild @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) Hey, while I'm all for following spring training in the hopes of getting a feel for how a player will look in the upcoming season, aren't we jumping the gun just a tad here? Fields went 2 for 2---let's move him to a new position and make him the starter! Floyd walked a guy and gave up a double before twisting his ankle---dump the bum, he'll never be anything! Ok, so as ST goes on, I can understand trying to make some observations about how a player looks. But this is just an intra-squad game, for chrissakes. That being said, hey, if people that are actually there at ST want to chime in, I'd love to hear it. I'd prefer some personal observations (Player X's bat looks a little slow, Player Y has a nice breaking ball) over some overanalysis of some player's stat line for one game. You act like this is the first time either thing has been suggested. The intrasquad game really has nothing to do with any of the talk in this thread, these same ideas (Fields to start in LF, Floyd blows) have been kicked around for quite a while now.
  13. QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:39 AM) No mention of Thome yet? Soxtalk is learning it seems Wow, you know I totally forgot about that? I forget sometimes just how different this place is in the offseason.
  14. QUOTE(Guillen @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) Just curious b/c I heard the Cubs announced Rich Harden would be starting against the Sox this Sunday. That'd be unusual considering he's on the A's. But anyway, teams tend to announce those things closer to the game itself. You don't often have teams announcing pitching probables a week before the game in Spring Training.
  15. The coaching staffs don't really decide these things until a day or two before the game. So you could get pitching probables later in the week.
  16. Anything late during the week works for me, weekends are tough no matter what time.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 06:07 AM) ESPNews is reporting that Mark Prior isnt going to be pitching for the first 5 or 6 spring training games as a precautionary measure. Did he finish the season injured again last year? I though he actually pitched out the season after starting the season injured. Unbelievable. Prior's season started on June 18th, he missed a few starts in July and his season ended on August 10th. So he missed all of April, May and September plus half of June and most of August. So he missed a little over 4 months of last season.

  19. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) Kalapse Do they still have the 2005 season game highlights available for each game? Right now I can still view the little highlight clips from 2006 (w/o mlb.tv) and was wondering if those type of highlights were available for 2005? Yes all top highlights, condensed games ant top highlights are available for all 2005 games.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) Perhaps the sarcasm is too obvious to detect? Yeah, probably.
