Dewayne Wise come on up
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) I was under the impression that Dan is a big power/offense type of player and Wise is...not. Isn't offense what we need right now? Dan Johnson is a 33 year old 1B with a .235/.334/.405/.739 batting line in 1520 career big league PA's.

Oakland A's @ Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 10:13 PM) Can't we get a decent looking girl with a brain to do the post game interviews? That was awful. Personally, I love Danks' candor calling Floyd "solid."

Konerko put on 7 day DL
If you call up either of Jackson or Johnson; your next move -- when Konerko returns -- almost has to involve Hudson, Olmedo, Danks or someone going to the DL otherwise you expose Johnson or Jackson to waivers all for a few days of bench depth while Konerko clears the cobwebs. I'd say with relative certainty that Johnson has a 99% chance of being claimed and Jackson around 50%, that depth could really come in handy come September, no need to risk it now.

Target: 224 Strikeouts
Only 7 players in big league history have recorded 8+ 38+ HR seasons, Adam Dunn is on pace to become the 8th. Oh and 4 of those 7 are known or strongly suspected roiders, the other 3 are greats of the game: Aaron, Ruth and Killebrew.

Sox sign Wise, complete Myers trade
QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 05:04 PM) Dewayne Wise, the guy who made my favorite White Sox moment of all time. I haven't followed him much since he left. How was his time with the Jays and Yanks? You mean his time with the Jays, Marlins, Jays and Yanks? He's been really good on the base paths, that's about it.

Morel optioned to AAA
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Yeah, I think he's got at least one more option year, right? I've obviously been wrong on this stuff recently so I'll let someone else figure it out. This is probably best, though having him on the bench would work too. He has 2 remaining after this move.

Santiago was sent down
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) Why would AZ have put Septimo on their 40 man roster in 2008? He only had 3 years' minor league service time at that point, and was never in the majors, so there was no reason to do that. That just doesn't add up. http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/news/p...sp&c_id=ari BR has his minor league service time at 8 years going into 2012, that would put him at 5 years after '08 (he was signed in '03 originally, I assume he played in the DWL) and he was added to the 40 man after the '08 season in typical protect-a-player-from-the-rule-v-draft fashion. His contract history has him making $400K in '09 which was the minimum for a player on the 40 man at the time.

Santiago was sent down
It's simple: An option was used in '08, '09 and '11, using up his 3 options. To earn a 4th option year he'd have to have less than 5 years professional experience; he's been around since '05 so this does not apply. The Sox claimed him off waivers last season and outrighted him to AA, in the offseason he was signed to a minor league contract so they were able to outright him to the minors during spring training without having to put him on waivers. The Sox added him to the 40 man roster at the end of June and now that he's in the bigs and out of options he would have to clear waivers to be sent down.

Beckham - could this be it for him?
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 09:17 PM) Seriously, I just remember that game way too clearly. Beckham looked like '09 Beckham. Then he couldn't bunt and it all spiraled from there. Also, how the f*** do we both remember that game? I remember calling him "our best hitter" in that game thread.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) The Sox big bats came through late tonight. Dunn, Paulie, Tank, etc. Kudos to Hawk also for not being afraid to rant on the umps again after a huge, horsecrap call. Agreed, about time he stopped holding back. At a certain point enough is enough, someone needs to keep these umps in line and Hawk is just the man for the job! :headbang

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
Adam is simply Dunn-ing all over the place right now, you're invited to choke down the sweet nectar of Adam Dunn's mammoth spluge bombs. You're f***ing welcome, America.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
Current MLB ranks: '3 true outcome' much? Oh, Adam you're so Dunny right now it's unreal. Love ya, big man.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) A month or two ago on "Who Ya Crappin", someone had another great example like that. I don't remember the details, but Hawk said something about hitting in a few homers in a certain park (maybe KC), but a quick glance at Baseball Reference proved him 100% full of s***. Baseball Reference is the bane of many old time ballplayer's existence. They got away with exaggerating their on-field exploits for a long time, now there's a fact checker at the ready.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 09:13 AM) He said he got that kind of standing O after being traded, came up and hit a home run, and that was the last time they cheered him. Well, Hawk is clearly full of s***: after being traded to the Indians early in the 1969 season Hawk went on to play 6 games at Fenway that season in an Indians uniform. The thing is: that HR didn't take place until his 29th and final AB of the 6 games. The only scenario in which this is feasible is if the Fenway faithful gave him 29 standing ovations or 1 final standing O for his last AB of the series and then did not cheer him again by default since his next AB in that park wouldn't come until the following season.

Story about Dunn and his child
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Ashamed? Adam owes me an apology for last year. No, he doesn't. It's rather pathetic that you would even think that. And no, I don't have a problem with booing.

Happy Birthday BMAC3520
Bullard and Man Hands were a couple of the more active minor leaguers on the board and beloved because of it. There's a reason why some here had so much invested in the future of Jeff Bajenaru. And yes, happy B-Day Mr. McCarthy, we don't win the World Series without you and you're an awesome follow on twitter. Get well soon and dominate like you know you can. EDIT: Oh and another good follow is his Aussie, Braves reliever buddy Peter Moylan, from a few hours ago (his response is the last 2 words, did I mention he's oft injured?): Peter Moylan @PeterMoylan “@JakeMarc: Funny. When’s the last time you have even been near a major league park? Your team doesn’t need you.” Blow me

Youkilis, $5.6 million traded to White Sox
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) Just heard Ventura say Lillibridge has never been traded before...um third time, Robin. Pretty sure he said "having been traded before", it makes significantly more sense given the context.

2012 MLB Catch All thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 07:02 PM) 13th career walk of home run for a guy named Jim Thome. Passing a guy named "Babe Ruth" for most in major league baseball history. 'Bout time he produced in the clutch.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) Is there any way the Sox keep Peavy for one more year on his huge option salary? They could rationalize to themselves $22M for Peavy and Quintana instead of $10M for Floyd and Quintana(plus in the mind of Jerry, you avoid the large Peavy buyout). And (hopefully) assume you keep getting this great value from young guys up and down the roster In reality you have to think of it as an $18M option when you factor in the $4M sunk-cost buyout. But the answer is still almost certainly no. Just food for thought.

Konerko #2 MLB most underrated player
