QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Alright, this just got a little too weird. I'm sorry I ever brought up his name in the first place.

how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Im going to back Fathom up here, yes, Tony backing up Fathom (thats f***ed up). Fathom, while often putting a negative spin on things, does tend to try and look at things at the big picture, and at TIMES, AT TIMES, will give credit where credit is due. There are some here that only seem to come around when the Sox lose, or are heading on a slide, and not when they have won 3 or 4. Fathom is a good poster, and brings good discussion to this site. I do however hate him. I've noticed as well as many others have that there are a lot of posters who have suddenly disappeared now that the Sox are winning. Every once in a while when the Sox start to lose you'll see some of them come out of the wood work to post their usually negative bulls***. Fathom has the respect of a lot of posters on this site, he may be negative at times (mainly in game threads) but atleast he backs his s*** up.

Just a reminder to Ozzie
QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) YOU CAN NOT PLAY THAT LINEUP EVERYDAY. They will break down by the end of the regular season. You have to sacrifice some games so that the regulars can have their rest. Stop criticize Ozzie. Let him do his job. For one thing, your knowledge is NOTHING compared to Ozzie's. Period! Or he could rest the regulars one at a time or two at a time instead of three at a time or four at a time. When you're throwing 4 bench players out there you're not giving your team the best chance to succeed.

how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I think I've been allowed to stick around because I actually give reasons for why I say negative things. Also, I'm not a bandwagon jumper like so many people on this board are. Very true, and that's why so many people value your opinion and respect you for it. It's not just blind negativity.

One more thing, this Soxtalk is nowhere near WSI. That place has become a f***ing joke, go to the roadhouse sometime and read the posts/threads that are sent there. You can't say anything negative AT ALL or you'll be suspended for 2 months and now they've started banning people. Soxtalk has never and I'm hoping will never become anything like that and right now it's a 180 degree difference. That's why I have something like 50 posts over there and 6,050 over here, it's just not the same community and feel over there.

Where is everybody getting ripped for being negative? How come I just don't see it? Fathom has managed to stick around and he at times is the most negative fan you're going to come across. Sometimes people go over the top with their negativity and are called on it, then claim they're getting flamed or blasted. I just don't see it.

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) Is the magic number 24 now or 25? 24- Indians/Twins Updates
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) All in all, a productive day. A little bit closer to 0 on that magic number.- Indians/Twins Updates
f*** yes indians lose- Indians/Twins Updates
s***. 4-3 bottom 9th 1 out- Indians/Twins Updates
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) For my fellow Sox fans in this thread: do you get as nervous about these games as you do for Sox games now? I know we're supposed to worry about the Sox primarily, but it might as well be the Tigers acting as the White Sox tonight. Well I was screaming at the top of my lungs when Blake was caught off second base. So yeah.- Anti-Rape Device
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) :Looks up "flaccid": I personally wouldn't like my penis caught in a bear-trap. But how the hell do you rape someone without checking the goods? I think I need to see a pacture of this device... I'm shocked, offended and a bit confused by that post. :headshake- sox, cubs talking today?
QUOTE(infohawk @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Actually, I'd love to have Nomar for the stretch run. It would make so much sense. He hits for power and average and the Sox wouldn't have to committ to him beyond this year if they didn't want to. Uribe could slide over to third. Just out of curiousity, is he even available for a trade (waiver process) if the Cubs wanted to deal him? Appearantly he was never even placed on waivers so... no.- how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Up 3 runs with 5 outs to go to make it to the World Series is far more embarrassing, especially with the amount of attention the Cubs had in 2003. Trust me, the national media doesn't care enough about the White Sox to make this into such a huge story. If we do blow a 15 game lead, we deserve to be trashed though. According to ESPN the White Sox don't even exist. If the Sox end up losing the division the national media will ignore it just as they do with everything else that involves the White Sox.- how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(Chifananthony @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Im predicting NO DEAL, and we lose the division by one game, and become the biggest embarrassment in this city's baseball history. FIFTEEN GAMES UP AND LOSE THE DIVISION. THIS REALLY SUCKS. God damn, why even watch? I seriously couldn't watch a team play with this attitude.- sox, cubs talking today?
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) He can obviously play the dh position, as anyone can, but he's not going to like doing it, and he certainly won't resign here if all he's getting is DH duties. Or we could just exercise the $2.5M team option that goes along with his contract and he'll have no choice but to stay.- sox, cubs talking today?
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) I know KW never said it....but some of the smarter people on this board told us not to worry, KW will make a move if this team struggles. Are you telling me that you didn't think KW would pull off a trade? I know I did.- how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) The fixated parts. Just cause the "great" baseball insiders in this town said those were the guy kenny was after really doesn't mean anything. Hell, that could have all been a smoke screen for other things, we just dont know. There was a good amount of names reported that KW was interested in. He was getting outlandish requests such as McCarthy for Villone.- September Boost
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Casanova's an outfielder? I remember him being a full-time catcher his entire career. My bad. Totally stupid. Ignore the post.- how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) If you knew what Tampa was asking for in regards to Huff, you wouldn't feel that way. Unless you seriously don't care about prospects which is completely wreckless.- September Boost
QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) so would i, but its burkes right to refuse the assiment iirc. last time he took it when the sox outrighted him to charlotte after he passed through waivers. jamie showed he can play in the majors and hopefully he comes up instead of cassenova I really don't care if we lose Burke. I'll take my chances putting him through waivers, if they want to send him back down and he refuses all the luck to him. - sox, cubs talking today?
