Kalapse replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Pale Hose Talk
w00t... he has 0 chance. -
Could this facial hair get him 44 saves and 93 Ks?

QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) They allow their political opinions cloud their sports talk too often. Hence why I no longer listen to them.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) Gload batted .400 w/ RISP last year too. Meanwhile Timo is hitting .229 w/ RISP and .250 w/ RISP and 2 outs this year.

Hard to play when you're on the DL. I don't see the Side Burns making much of a difference anytime soon.

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) He reminds me of Jeff Liefer. Cried all the time about playing time. We shipped his ass to the Expos and he couldn't get it done there. They sent him to Tampa and he did nothing. Then he goes to the Brewers and he can't even make that sorry team. I know, I know, Liefer hit a Grand Slam for the Tribe against KC this year, but beside that his average is horrible and he hasn't had a hit since mid-August. I have no sympathy for guys like Gload making $335K who are 29, haven't done a thing in the majors, then cry about playing time. I wish he would worry more about routine ground balls to first. Shut up, step up when you're in there, and make a good impression or go back to Brooklyn and sell hot dogs at Nathan's. Could we have used him in August? No doubt. I would have much rather seen him at first than Bum. But maybe Ozzie and everyone else was sick of his piss poor attitude. In liefer's defense, that was 10 ABs ago. He has barely played since Hafner has gotten back.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Is this like how Tampa Bay's stellar preseason D carried over last year? I'm not saying the Bears defense is bad....it just won't make up for the offense. It's hard for you really to talk about the Bears D when you don't watch the games, this preseason and even some last year they have been just ridiculous. Wait til September 11th when they shut down the Redskins and Portis runs for 42 yards.

I am oh so greatful of the Clash, without them I don't know what I would do. They've been a huge influence on a few bands that I hold dear.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:06 AM) Yeah that's about where I see them. Jones didn't look too good last night however (4 rushes, 10 yards), while Anthony Thomas had a good game for Dallas (and yet he could be cut still). Still it is only the pre - season. Jones looked great for the first 4 preseason games, last night he only played two series and a couple O-Lineman had been pulled already.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) Yep, so it's probably worthwhile to not expect the Bears offense to hit the ground running. And then Orton's probably going to hit the rookie wall as well at some point too, that's when the Bears are really going to need the likes of Benson and Jones to support him. Which is entirely possible. I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid as much as others, I'm seeing 6 or 7 wins this year, just because I don't see them not improving on last years record.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) Ok, I'll come back at ya with a curveball. With the #1 offense, how many TD's did the Bears #1 offense score? That was chad Hutchinson running the #1 offense for the entire preseason up until last week when Orton lead them downfield for a TD in his 1 series with the #1 offense. Kind of hard to grade an O when the leader of the offense is no longer with the team, mainly because he sucks. The Bears offense is pretty damn weak, atleast the Defense appears to be strong though.

QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) The Score reported that it was a 6 yr deal worth 63 million. With incentives, it could reach up to 70 million. Sounds about right, nice deal.

Some people are way too quick to jump on a guy for a few things he says. What are the chances that any of his teammates really cared about what he said. I'm sure the entire team is shaken now because Ross Gload says he wants to play a bit more. Some people take a couple sentences WAY to seriously.

QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) How old did he look to you? Oh about 32.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) It was when the Angels were facing the Yankees during a wknd series over a month ago. It might have been the Saturday game, which if my memory is correct, went into extra innings w/the Yanks making a huge comeback. That Saturday comeback game on July 30th was a Fox game so I'm thinking it was most likely either the Sunday or Friday game then.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) According to what my brother said, the announcers were just agreeing with everything he said. I think it was Paul O'Neill in the booth with them. Wasn't O'Neill probably on that team when it happened? I believe he was. Do you know what day this was? I wouldn't mind going back and seeing if it's on MLB.tv they tend to use the YES Network broadcast.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) The worst thing is that NO ONE associated with the broadcast corrected him. There's usually atleast 2 other guys in the booth and none of them jumped in and saved him? Wow.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Yeah, I know but the multiple Chris Young lovers wre begging for his upbringing ... Well, they're delusional.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) Here's the Kay/Juan Rivera story: In a recent Angels/Yankees game, Derek Jeter robbed Juan Rivera of a hit. For the next 3 innings, Kay talked about how it was sweet justice against the guy whole stole his stuff when he was on the Yankees. Kay went out of his way to bash Rivera. Here's the thing....it was Ruben Rivera that stole stuff from the Yankees locker room, and not Juan Rivera. How the f*** do you screw that up? Hell, I'd say 90% of this board knew it was Ruben Rivera, how does Michael Kay, a man so close to the Yankees, confuse the two?
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Bull knew all this. Baj and Ando will be coming up the 6th along with Borch. Sorry Chris Young fans... Young isn't on the 40, there was never a chance of him comming up.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) That race is going down to the final week. Just like last season.
-
QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Over 10 million a year, that's rediculas, you might as well keep that money and sign several guys. By the end of this deal, he better be worth that money. The only thing that is ridiculous is your spelling of the word ridiculous. About damn time I get to correct someones spelling.

He sounds frustrated and rightfully so.
