  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) If anyone from Texas is available it is Texiera, as they have Adrian Gonzalez waiting in the wings. They have tried to trade their power hitters for pitching in the past, and I could really see a Marte/Contreras for Texiera deal being something that could happen. Mark Teixeira on the other hand is a Boras client and will be going into arbitration after this season. He made $2.5M in '05 and hit .289 36HR, 144 RBI thus far this season. With Boras at the helm Tex is looking at a payday.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) I am pretty sure Blalock is a Boras client so IMO there is no way the White Sox trade for him. Nope. His agent is Eric Goldschmidt. And he's currently in the 2nd year of a very cheap 5 year $15.25M deal.
  3. QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) really, if there's ever a reason to believe what goes around comes around (karma), this is it. I don't see how it is. The team didn't want to trade him, that's their choice. He's most likely not even out for the rest of the year and even if he were, he's still comming back at the beginning of next year. So they'd still have Griffey as they wanted, just not for the rest of a pointless Reds month.
  4. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Where are you getting this from? I don't see anyone happy. And I said congrats to the team for not being smart and it costing them, again. And I didn't say I got this feeling from this board.
  5. 1) Griffey most likely would not of had the same injury had the Sox acquired him. 2) Most likely he is not out for the year. 3) Even if he is out for the year, he'll be back at the beginning of next year, so assuming Cincy really didn't want to trade him, I don't see how this would change anything. They lose him for the last month of this year but still have him for next year and the future. 4) You should not take pleasure in a players injury especially in this case, we don't trade for him, he gets injured and that makes you happy? It shouldn't. *4 is not directed at anyone inparticular, just the overall feeling I'm getting from a lot of Sox fans.
  6. I'm beginning to think Yahoo might be wrong on this one. That makes 0 sense.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) What? He's given up 11 ER this year when the count is 0-0.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Even ESPN was quoted saying he is one of the best LH relievers in the game. I personally, would rather have Cotts. I think just about every Sox fan out there would take Cotts over Marte. 53 IP 4W 0L 1HR 23BB 53K 1.87ERA 1.00WHIP .163BAA Do you realize that Neal Cotts has given up all of his runs this year on the first pitch?
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) dont forget though, they wont be paying for Frank's large contract. That's $4.5M off the books, assuming the Sox don't give him a new short term deal.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) and not all those teams know that he is garbage against left handed batters. I'd say in a lot of teams eyes, Marte is the same stud he was in '03. He'll have a lot of value in a package deal and could really aid in landing us some offensive help.
  11. Mora makes a lot of errors at 3B and has only been playing that position for 2 years now. Defensively Crede >>> Mora.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) So you're saying it's a good thing I don't post over there? That's why I have about 125X more posts here then I do over there. I only post there when a little common sense needs to be infused. Some of them get pretty delusional and someone's gotta try and bring them back down to earth.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Of the three pitchers you mention, Vizcaino has the best chance of being on the club next season. If we could get a little something for Marte over the Off-season, I'd dump him in a heart beat. I'm sick of watching him constantly walk left hand hitters and I'm pretty sure Ozzie is as well. Viz is an every other year guy so next year he should have a sub 2 ERA. I don't see Baj making the team out of spring training next season.
  14. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) What is so "dark cloud" about pointing out the obvious? Remember: this was before our big streak and rally in September, which is exactly what I said we needed to do. And you think it's appropriate to boot somebody for one post among 600? A couple of friends/Sox fans pointed out this is like the Steve Stone treatment--which, ironically, is postively Cubs-like. By their rules you are a "dark cloud" IMO, it's f***ing stupid to ban anyone for something like that. You can only praise the team and it's sickening. However, they do make the rules and by their rules, you won't be posting again until October.
  15. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) Wow. If they banned you for that post, with no other reason, they're nuts. That post won't get you banned here. Hell, some folks might even agree with you.... Have you been over there lately? If you say anything remotely negative you're banned. Somehow I've managed to stay afloat, not really sure how.
  16. Shouldn't be a "dark cloud" that's not acceptable. Ban you without warning and by their standards, it's justified.
  17. Hmm. Sportsline has the Bears at 22 and the Boys at 21.
  18. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) This is progress, I guess. Now, I can't wait until he criticizes some, any, aspect of the team, the manager, or club management. Should I hold my breath? Hawk criticized the team yesterday. He was talking about all the stupid mistakes (especially on the basepaths *chough*pods*cough*) that the team has been making lately. He said this is a bad time to start playing stupid baseball and that sooner or later it's going to come back to haunt you.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Its not really a shock that Gage is the number 2.... I just think that Berrian/Bradley have done more to deserve it..... Ill say Gage has had his moments and him and Rex seem to have a connection but with Rex being out I would of liked if Berrian/Bradley got the chance to be the 2. They will, this Sunday. Gage is currently in the tentative #2 spot, it only lasts for the 1st series then you see Berrian and Bradley.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) I see the Bears with at least 7 wins more likely 8 so dont think Leinart wil be available... as for Garza being the backup he has been behind Metcalf or whatevr the whole pre-season on the depth chart so no surprise there. One thing im not happy with is Gage at number 2. To me Bradley and Berrian have both looked better and in my opinion should be ahead of Gage on the depth chart. I don't think it really matters who the proclaim the #2 at this moment. All it means is that you'll see Gage across from Muhsin in Washington for the first series but after that you'll be seeing a lot of Bradley. Berrian will get his chances and Wade will get his usual amount of reps on the cross patterns. Gage has a ton of upside and is further developed than Bradley, who still tends to drop the easy passes, while making the spectacular ones. This should not be a shock to anyone.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) When on a message board all sarcasm needs to be in green... I knew saw it as a sarcastic comment and I've been pathetic at picking up sarcasm lately.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) Is there some reason Kerry Wood didn't make the list? Hard to be washed up when the only thing you've ever accomplished in your career is one great game and one very good year.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) If Nomar were healthy and hitting well all this year...I'd still call him injury prone. J.D. Drew was healthy and hitting well all last year. I thought the Dodgers overpaid for him...because he was injury prone. (I was right). You need like 2-3 years at least in order to fully clear that title. Still, the fact that he's going to be out for the next 2 games should not make people happy that the Sox didn't trade for him. You can't be pining for him one second then you don't get him, he misses 2 games you you're glad you didn't trade for him. That makes no sense.
  24. QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) well, the way i grasp it, either you're injury prone......or your not. didn't know you could shed that tag. The guy had a bad break injury wise for a few years, he has NOT been hurt at all this year. How can you call the guy injury prone if he's healthy for the entire season while putting up ridiculous offensive numbers?
