QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) The pussification of posting really svcks. But I realize it's a neccessity. The new policy pretty much means that before you post look it over. If the style is anything BUT respectful or cordial of another member of SOXTALK or the WHITE SOX then edit it until it is. Uggh. I have a request. Can we create a RIVALS RANT section? A place where we can unleash our male angst on RIVAL teams. A place where we can bash our rivals endlessly. I realize there might be members from other teams here but can't we consider them trolls? Do we have to be respectful & cordial to trolls as well? This isn't NSBB. Why should we show disrespect towards knowledgeable fans of other teams by considering them trolls from the get go. Would any of us consider Benchwarmerjim a troll? I'd say no.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) Anyone think Rowand should also try a leg kick? I know Ozzie has used him at just about every place in the lineup, but we need him to hit like he did last year. Absolutely not. All that would do is f*** up that gorgeous swing of his. His stance is perfect for his swing, the lean-in that he does helps him keep a shorter stroke a leg kick would just would just elongate his swing. Rowand has been hot of late, it's not time to start f***ing with him.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) I can replace him in the booth with Farmio? I do take a Jounalism class? And I am head of the Sports Committee? Me and Farmio -- If they hired you to do radio play by play I'd have to rethink my White Sox fandom.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) You know, this philosiphy doesn't work imo. You'll always be disappointed when your favorite team sucks, no matter what expectations you have for them. Yeah but you're used to it by now. I mean you probably have 0 expectations for your team going into the season right? If I were a Phins fan I'd probably be looking for another team as I'm sure you are.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) Gload won't play a game this year against a lhp. Gload may not be playing at all until we clinch. I have no complaints about the lineup today, Pods was due for a day off and it's been awhile since we've seen Blum. Though everyone seems to hate him, I don't mind seeing him in the lineup. -
I've been calling him "The Beast" for awhile now.

Crede made the club for good in the second half of 02 and has shown mind boggling regression with each passing year. No comparison. Noone compared Crede to Roberts. I merely said a player can bust out in his 5th pro season and Roberts is evidence of that. I don't know where you got the idea that anyone was comparing the two.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) That's one. For every one you name, I can give 20 failures. Very true, I just wanted to throw his name out there. It is entirely possible to break out well into your major league career, especially when you have the kind of talent Crede has.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) Realistically, not many guys have a break out year in their fourth or fifth season. If it doesn't happened in a guys first two or three years in the league, he is bagging my groceries for me if he did not save his money. This is as good as it gets, he will probably only go down from here. Defense important, but how about some offense. Brian Roberts, 5th season.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) LOL. I was thinking the same thing this guy was last night. There's a little instrumental bit that Nancy plays throughout the night that sounds sort of like somebody playing bells, or a toy piano. It's probably related to something that happens on the field, as most of her stuff is. I was going to ask about it here, too--but how do you "explain" a piece of music? I feel your pain dude? Here's one though, which should be easier: what's the tune they always play with that sort of house/techno beat that sounds like a bunch of cheerleaders? And at the end they go "WOOOO!"? I can never understand what they're saying, but they play this at every game, numerous times. I've never heard it outside the Cell. It's obnoxious but also insanely catchy. R-O-W-D-I-E THAT'S THE WAY WE SPELL ROWDY, ROWDY, LET'S GET ROWDY, WOOOO!

s***, I'd rather face Escobar than Saunders. A rookie pitcher with good stuff does not bode well. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) How many outs were there? 2 Outs

It made SportsCenter's top 10 plays.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) When you're running naked down a North Dakota street in late October, with it probably snowing, and you screaming your f***in lungs out, I don't think you're gonna care too much whether or not ESPN ignores you. Be sure to get some pics.
-
Let's just say for a second that Chicago AL won the big series at the end of the season. Would media outlets like ESPN continue to ignore this franchise and act as though they do not exist? I could see the top story on Sportscenter being how disappointing it was that the Bo Sox couldn't get back to the WS rather than how the other Chicago team won it all.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) That is about exactly what I'm rooting for. Same here.

QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) 10 steals in 1992. SBs are not always a great tool to determine speed.

The Angels currently have a 1 game lead over the A's in the West. If the playoffs started today... Angels Vs. White Sox Indians Vs. Red Sox

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Meh, first game of the season. They didn't play their best game but they didn't have to. They're going to be right back in the superbowl imo, I wish they'd just go away but they won't. What do you have to worry about? I doubt the Pats challenge the Dolphins for the 4th place title this year.

QUOTE(valponick @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) haha, one comment I heard was this.... Me: "where are the soxtalk.com people" WSI person: " I don't think they could get a ride from their parents" Not sure if this is a common association but it was kind of bogus. They very much did seem like a cult. The average age of regular posters at WSI is much higher than the average age of the regular poster at SoxTalk. It's kind of a stereotype of sorts.

I bet more people would show up to see Murcie than to see Bell. It's about priorities

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) The sox have as much if not more fans then the Cubs. Problem is the cubs get all the bandwagon, fair weather, tourist, etc, they get that whole group. Oh yeah that stupid park they play in helps them draw fans as well even when the cell is much nicer. Damn, you sound bitter. So young, yet so full of angst.

It hasn't ALWAYS been a Cubs town.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) I don't know. I tend to agree with Sox players on this one. People say, "well there's work and all this other stuff." Yeah, but I don't see any other team in the league making excuses. I certainly don't see the Cubs, or the Angels or any other team that's playing well making excuses. I say it's time to stop making excuses here. If you aren't going, just say "I'm not showing up, period." With the lack of support for this team(best in the league as I hear so much around here), the attendance for this series certainly didn't show it. Our players need to learn how to play in front of big crowds and they certainly aren't getting the experience here at home. Other than the fact that before this series the crowds have been f***ing huge at home. We get poor attendance for one f***ing series and suddenly we're not drawing at all. 2,000,000+
