Sox possibly to face most touted prospect since...
QUOTE(marsh @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) I've got waiver claims on him in my two leagues. Hopefully he'll slip to me. As do I. He's a steal in any keeper league.

Ozzie's odd use of the bullpen today
Lately, people have been b****ing about the way he uses the bullpen all year. :banghead Oh yeah and Cotts only facing a few batters has been just about the #1 complaint.

Sox possibly to face most touted prospect since...
QUOTE(marsh @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) i believe he was throwing it until he started having some arm trouble either this year or last year, but i could be wrong since i'm going on third hand info. Yeah they had him throwing it a bit more last year and at the beginning of this season but he started having some arm problems and they barred him from throwing it at all in games. He was put on the DL a little while ago with arm problems he got back recently and had been pitching out of the pen in Tacoma, which is just another reason why he was so impressive today he had been pitching out of the pen for the most part before he had been called up.

Sox possibly to face most touted prospect since...
QUOTE(marsh @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) He wasn't even allowed to use his best pitch, his slider. He hasn't been alowed to use it in games at all. He's been in the minors for 3 full seasons and han't been allowed to throw the slider in games hardly at all. They're really using kid gloves with him, you don't want a 19 year old tweaking his elbow throwing a slider.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) he pitched today againt the tigers, and lost. He didnt look so hot. Overrated. If you watched the game and still think he's overrated then you don't know baseball. He looked dominate to me outside of the 1st inning. The angle that he comes down from on his 4-seamer is ridiculous considering how he was almost exclusively throwing fastball. He looked nervous in the 1st inning and had control problems but after that he found his contol and dominated. 5 IP, 3 H, 2BBs and he's overrated? GMAFB.

Around The Majors
Felix Hernandez is currently pitching in Detroit. The game is not being televised on MLB Extra Innings for Comcast Digital Cable and on MLB.tv they're showing the Tiger's broadcast with a s***ty view. The Tiger's broadcast is f***ed up so they're giving you that high above the backstop spring training type view. So they're trying to keep me from seeing King Felix pitch, bastards. Hernandez is having early control problems.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) The "White People Can't Dance" skit you are referring to is hilarious. White People = Guitar. Black people = Drums. "The Latino's don't seem to be feeling it. Let's add an electric guitar and see how they react! Now, to step it up a notch, let's add some Latin gibberish!!!!!!!" It wasn't an electric guitar it was an electric piano (keyboard).- Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) Maybe I'm missing something, but it makes sense to me. KGJr. has never made winning a priority. However, you can't fault him for wanting to spend time with his family. I understand wanting to be with your family but he's 35 and still hasn't won anything, he's never even played in a WS so instead of wanting to go to a team that has a good chance at giving him that experience of playing in the WS he'd rather stay on a last place team and spend Spring Training in Orlando. You'd think a player of his caliber would want to add to his legacy that he was able to win something but instead he'd rather spend the rest of his career in last place.- Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Bruce is on saying that it wasn't as close and that Griffey was asked if he would go to the Sox and he said that he loves the Sox however he doesn't want to go their because they train in Arizona and he wants to be with a team that trains in Orlando. I heard that earlier today. That's probably one of the lamest things I've ever heard from an athlete. He wants to be in Orlando during Spring Training so he can be at home, so he'd like to stay with the Reds instead of going to a contender so he doesn't have to spend 8 months in Arizona away from his family.- Bears Fans...
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) Don't be selfish! Share! It's for a 1280 X 800 desktop. I doubt it would fit your screen.- Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Or just maybe, follow me here because it's a really really crazy theory. You ready? Okay. Maybe, just maybe, he's healthy. OMFG, I know. Crazy theory right?? You're f***ing crazy, it's impossible for Griffey to stay healthy for a whole season. Hamstring injuries don't heal. :rolly- Bears Fans...
I'm currently pimpin' my own bears wallpaper which features the entire defense. It kicks all enclusive ass.- Interview with Tadahito...
I know a guy who works at the Best Buy in Schaumburg and Golf road. Appearantly Gooch is in there all the time buying s*** for his house, he's been to Iguchi's place a few times to install some audio equipment for him. Said Iguchi's a real nice guy, even though he speaks hardly any english.- Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) The value of Griffey this year is the marginal difference between him and Carl Everett, who will presumably go to the bench if Griffey starts at DH in the ALDS. What is that worth? Something, but not all that much. I've noticed that you tend to underrate very good hitters. You did the same damn thing with Aubrey Huff by calling him just a Good player when in fact he's a great hitter (30/100/.300/875+) Now you're doing the same thing with Griffey. There is no comparison offensively between Griffey and Everett. Huff >>>>> Everett Griffey >>>>> Everett.- 3 hole hitter
QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) Over the last 2 months, Ozzie should try to find the Aaron Rowand of last year if he can. In my view that means moving him to the top of the lineup, either third or second. Iguchi would fill the other slot. That means everyone else would slide a spot. And if Dye continues to hit better than Konerko, I have no objection to flipping them, frankly. Rowand hit best last year in the leadoff spot. 2004 #1 spot: 163 ABs, 12 2Bs, 1 3B, 11 HRs, 32 RBI, .319 AVG., .976 OPS. With that said there's no way in hell he gets moved to the leadoff spot. Keep Pods #1 and Iguchi #2, it's been the most consistent thing we've had going for us offensively all season, why f*** with it?- Sox had him?!?!
OMG. This is unbelievable.- Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.
*THIS IS WHY HE'D MOST LIKELY CLEAR WAIVERS* Ken Griffey Jr.'s entire contract. Ken Griffey Jr.: 9-year contract worth $116.5M 2005: $12.5M 2006: $12.5M 2007: $12.5M 2008: $12.5M 2009: $12.5M - Team Option - $4M Buyout + $5.5M of his 2000 salary is deffered through 2008 making his per year salary higher than noted. + $6.5M of 2001-2009 salaries deferred to subsequent years between 2009 and 2024 + He is currently a 10-5 player. Agent: Brian Goldberg All this for a player who has been injured almost every year since 2000 and could tear his Hamstring at anytime. His legs are especially fragile due to the nature of his hamstring injuries. Griffey is 35 right now and will be 36 by the beginning of the '06 season. No team will claim him off waivers.- Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) Um pardon me, but does this mean that our chance to get griffey is gone, or is it still possible we might aquire him? We still have a chance to acquire him through waivers.- Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.
QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) I don't think Pirates will trade with anyone but their divisional rival, cubbies.... They dont' trade with the Cubs, the Cubs simply call players up from the Pirates and send down their s***tiest players to their AAAA affiliate in Pittsburgh. - Kalapseness
