QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) Then I would say Rowand would play LF and Griffey CF. I would say Griffey would play DH and SOME CF, hardly any. Pods is the kinda guy that has to be moving around at all times in order to keep his legs fresh, he'll continue to be our everyday LFer.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) Huh? Centerfielders have to cover more ground than corner outfielders. Yeah but corner OFers put a lot more torque on their legs, J.D. Drew was talking about it, that's why he pretty much only plays CF now becuase his legs are in as bad shape as Griffeys and LF/RF put more stress on your legs than CF.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) I really think the Sox need another lefty reliever. Marte is overrated and he cannot get leftys out. Name one lefty reliever out there that we could acquire. Guardado is the only name that comes to mind and obviously since KW didn't make a push for him during the regular season he would be reluctant to go after him during the waiver process.
-
Most Likely Griffey can't play a corner OF position due to the condition of his legs. He will only be playing DH and some CF if we were some how able to swing a deal for him.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 05:47 AM) This is an interesting point. Is there anyway they'd be able to prove that before the hearing he was on roids? Cause if they can't prove that he was on roids before the hearing then it wouldn't be perjury, correct? You would be correct.

Sox possibly to face most touted prospect since...

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) I've heard so much about him that I want to watch him pitch. He's 18 or 19 years old, isn't he? It's amazing he's up so fast. If he's anything like what I've heard, he'll be the closest thing to a win every 5th day that there will be in MLB for a while (if he can stay healthy of course). 19 years old. One scout called him a "Can't miss Ace" that is high praise. -
My question is, how do you guys make them that fast? Damn.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) It scary to thinks its august 3rd and the rockies havent totally fallen out of the race yet. Mathematically they have a better chance of winning their division than the Twins or Indians do.

Do the Sox need to look over their shoulders
Kalapse replied to SpringfieldFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
People talk all about the White Sox lack of experience come playoff time, hell just take a look at the A's rotation. Zito not included the other 4 starters have absolutely s*** of experience especially playoff experience. The A's 2-5 starters have a total of 5 gms pitched and 0 GS in the playoffs which equates to 9.2 IP. Career #s: Harden - 59 GS Haren - 41 GS Saarloos - 44 GS Blanton - 21 GS -------------------- Total: 165 GS Where as the Sox' 2-5 starters (- Buehrle) have a total of 31 gms pitched and 20 GS in the playoffs which equates to 147 IP. Career #s: Garcia - 207 GS Garland - 147 GS Contreras - 61 GS Hernandez - 150 GS ------------------------ Total: 565 GS Who's starting rotation 2-5 seems to have more experience the Sox' 31 Playoff Games and 565 career GS or the A's 5 Playoff Games and 165 career GS? -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) Except for the fact that Vasher >>>> Azumah as a CB. I love that guy. He has a knack for the ball and seems to be involved in every play. I think Odom has a shot to win the OLB job over Hillenmeyer though. And I am still not sold on Mike Green... Not sold on Mike Green? WOW, have you ever watched the guy play? '01 - 16 gms, 69 Ttkls, 2 sacks, 2 fum forced, 1 recov. 4 pass def '02 - 16 gms, 129 Ttkls, 1 sack, 1 fum forced, 2 recov. 5 pass def '03 - Hurt, only played in 10 games, 46 Ttkls, .5 sacks 1 int. 2 pass def '04 - 16 gms, 106 Ttkls, 1.5 sacks, 2 ints, 2 fum forced, 4 recov. 6 pass def What more does a guy have to do over his first 4 full seasons in the NFL? He is a very above average starting FS. Oh yeah... Zoom >>>> Vasher as an all around CB. Vasher is good for picks but isn't a good cover corner yet. Hunter >>>> Odom ... Joe has proven absolutley nothing on the football field where as Hunter did an admirable job filling in for an injured Urlacher last year and proved that he can start in the NFL. Marcus Reese has a better chance at starting for the Bears at OLB next season.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) The angels are scary we were barely able to beat then without vlad and fransico Bartolo Colon Jarrod Washburn John Lackey Paul Byrd Not the scariest playoff rotation. 4-3 record vs. them in the regular season. Though them not having Vlad or K-Rod didn't hurt, especially the game we won against Shields. Their bullpen is f***ing sick though with Sheilds, Donnelly, Peralta and K-Rod going in the postseason is gonna win you a game or two. Oh yeah Vlad beat the living piss out of the Orioles tonight, 3-4 with 5 RBI and 2 HRs. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) I don't think it will hurt us that much. He'll be back by the beginning of the season so I'm not too worried. I like the team thus far. I'm loving that Rex is back to 100%. I'm loving that Benson/Jones duo. I'm loving Moose. I'm loving Peanut. I'm loving the battle between Moose and Peanut. I'm loving BU healthy again. I'm loving that Edinger is gone. I'm loving the defense. I'm loving the Tank/Tommy duo at DT. I'm loving that Waly is healthy. I'm loving this upcoming season! Tommy and Tank aren't going to be playing together much, they're practically the same player except for the fact that Harris>>>>>Johnson. Look for Ian Scott to be starting in Washington on Sept. 11th. Scott had 77 Tackles and 2 sacks last year in 13 games, Rivera and Lovie absolutely love him. Oh Yeah: A. Brown, I. Scott, T. Harris, A. Ogunleye, H. Hillenmeyer, B. Urlacher, L. Briggs, J. Azumah, M. Green, M. Brown and C. Tillman = #1 Defense in the NLF in '05-'06.

QUOTE(Balance @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) No need to worry about this. If they manage to pass the Sox for the best record in the AL, the Sox will still be in the playoffs. And hopefully, someone else can take 'em out before we have to mess with them. If the A's do end up with Home Field Advantage, which is highly unlikely then the playoff matchups could work out like this: Boston @ Oakland Anaheim @ White Sox I'd peronally rather face the A's in the playoffs. If we can't beat them in the playoffs, then we don't deserve to be there in the first place. If Anaheim wins the West: Boston/Anaheim @ Anaheim/Boston Oakland @ White Sox -
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) I know that Marte actually had it at the beginning of 04. I also believe that Shingo went through it sometime in the middle of august last year. It is either from being overworked a ton or not being worked at all. You can get a dead arm from pitching regularly, you don't necessarily have to be overworked.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) The White Sox' K-Rod in the playoffs? Bobby Jenks. *

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) If the guy has stuff at all similar to the filth Towers had tonight, we're going to have some problems. Well there is a nickname for his arsenal of pitches, they call it "The Filth". I think he'd kill us with his with his 95mph fastball that he can cut in on righties and in on lefties. Not to mention his + 4-seamer, + change and + curve. Atleast we wouldn't be seeing his slider, which he's not aloud to throw. -
Geoff went 1-4 in his debut with the White Sox and displayed some dazzling defense.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) Do we want to pick up Aaron Sele? Just asking. Ummm..... f*** NO! Old and bad, not a good combination.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) How many World Series have the A's played in since Canseco left? People worry about our pitching staff, imagine if you were throwing out mostly first and second year guys. They may have all the talent in the world, but outside of Zito none of them have even seen pressure. SB The last 4 times the A's have made the playoffs '00-'03 they have been knocked out in the 1st round in 5 games. '00 - Yankees 3 - A's 2 '01 - Yankees 3 - A's 2 '02 - Twins 3 - A's 2 '03 - Red Sox 3 - A's 2 -
If this is true then his 1st ballot status now stands at 0%.

QUOTE(MinnySoxFan @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) I'm not the other guy. From what I gather he was quite the jackpipe. I emailed the station to find out how the voting is going but I haven't heard anything back yet. Thanks for everybody's help. I really appreciate it. That's putting it lightly.
