QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) One thing I just want to quickly state and thats how Anderson is a superior defensive player. Offensively though, I tend to agree with you on Connor, although I also think Anderson will bve a very solid offensive player. The real nicde thing about Connor are his walk totals. Quick fact about Jackson, his first name is spelled with only one n. So it's Conor Jackson.

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) I think that the Yankees, BoSox, and the Angels would block us from getting Griffey. The White Sox wont get Griffey PERIOD. There's no logic to that statement, do some research before saying stuff like that. Griffey will clear waivers with ease.

I don't think we should mention it by name. It's the main Cubs Fan Message Board.

So I was looking at some Yankee contracts the other day, taking a look at just how much they're paying some of these players. I have always had the stance that there's no way in hell that the Yankee's woul claim Griffey off waivers and after looking at thier payroll for the next 5 years I am now positive that they will not claim Griffey. You have to remember that when the Yankees or just about any other team sign a player to a long term, high price contract they tend to back load the contract. Meaning at the beginning of the contract a player could make $8M a year but the next season that may go up to $10M and at the end of say a 6 year contract they could end up paying a player $18M per year for the final two years of a players contract. For example take a look at Derek Jeter's contract: 10 years $189M '01 - $11M '02 - $13M '03 - $14M '04 - $17M '05 - $18M '06 - $19M '07 - $20M '08 - $20M '09 - $20M '10 - $21M Just about every high price Yankee's player has an extremely back loaded contract meaning every year their payroll is going to increase. Even with the subtraction of Bernie Williams, the Yankee's still have a ton of Giant contracts that are going up and increasing that already ridiculous payroll. Alex Rodriguez' contract increases $5M between '04 and '07 ($22M to $27M) + a s*** load of incentives Derek Jeter's contract increases $3M between '04 and '07 ($17M to $20M) Mike Mussina next season will make $17M. Jason Giambi only made $10M in '04 and $11M in '05 in '06 he's going to make $18M and the same in '07, when '08 rolls around he'll make $21M that year. Carl Pavano will make $10M in '07 and $11M in '08 The Yankees have way too many high priced long term contract to take on another one like Griffey's. They're most likely going to add a high priced 1Bman either after the '05 season (Konerko) or the '06 season (DLee). There is absolutely no way in hell the yankee's claim KGJ and pay him through '08. It's finally reached the point where the Yanks are actually running low on capital and have to worry about how much money they are spending. Their payroll with increase for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. I hate to even think about how much they'll be paying out for the '07 and '08 seasons it will be upwards of $250M and that's not even including luxury tax.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) See, I feel as though the White Sox fans are considered the "red-headed step-children" that Fisk has just had to deal with. On the excerpts I heard of his speech, what he said seemed sort of forced and half-hearted. I understand he is a new-englander, and it seems like he'll always be a Red Sox in his heart and treat the White Sox as his "second team" and the White Sox fans as his "second fans" I really don't like that treatment. I understand he had a falling out with Sox ownership that resulted in bad blood and sealed his entry into the hall-of-fame as a Red Sox, but it still makes me feel kind of bad. When has Fisk ever been one to joke around or feel comfortable speaking in front of a lot of people. That's just the way he is, it's the way he was as a player and it's the way he is as an ex-player. Im sure he loves the fact that there is now a statue of him on the left field concourse at the Cell and I'm sure he appreciates the fans that loved him for so many years on the South Side. He's just not all that great at expressing his feelings.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Tom quit because of ignorant comments made by Hawk regarding Tom's sexual abuse as a child. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) To a fellow member of the media no less. I think this answers the question quite well.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Coming from Cub fans... you call that thread a good read? :headshake It was obvious sarcasm. Nothing they write is a good read.

Another Suspension from Steroids is coming
Kalapse replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in The Diamond Club
My guess is that noone will be suspended later today, I'm getting my hopes up for nothing. But if someone was to go down, I'd have to guess Todd Helton, though it would be tricky seeing how he's on the DL right now. -
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) My point is that its ridiculous, absolutely pathetic infact. Then I guess I shouldn't bring up the thread they have posted on there entiteled "Soxtalk" then should I. They're 1000X worse then us. Especially me, go back through all of my 5000 some odd posts you're not going to see a lot of Cubs hatred there, I hate the Cubs and their fans, I just don't show it as much as others. You should really check out that "Soxtalk" thread, it's really a good read, last I checked it was up to 3 pages.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Except it is not transparent. I am using the Rooq Exquisite skin and i can see the white background on the bottom and right of the sig... I didn't make the background transparent because of the shadow that's under the picture.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) didn't Crede's daughter get hit in the head by a foul ball in ST a couple of years ago? It was last spring training. Brian Anderson hit a foul ball that struck Joe Crede's infant daughter. http://www.dailystar.com/dailystar/printDS/13611.php

QUOTE(chisoxfan14 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) If you search on google, you'll find Ozzie's wife! And hawk, and d.j said that a.j's wife is expecting, and so is crede's wife! and so is Konerko's wife. Baby is due at the end of October IIRC.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) I thought you meant he was number one in the organization, not one of the top. I agree that he's probably top 4-5. He's probably got the most upside of any postition player (meaning someone who has shown signs of beings something special at A or higher) in the system right now, with Valido right along side.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) s***! thanks a ton for the help guys but my original one still looks the best on the original skin. But now that I know about this .gif thing I'm pretty sure I can do it if I'm able to convert it. But when I try to convert it on paint which is all I have right now the color gets all wonky. Can someone convert it for me without losing the quality? .gif files usually lose quality when saved, the point of it is to condense file size and add for more compadibility. Like the sig I'm currently using which is a .gif. If you look at AJ's face you can see dots, the color is kinda f***ed up, that's just the way that .gifs are.

July 2nd, 2003 Pauly was in one of the worst slumps you're ever gonna see and comes through with a game tying HR against Guardado in the 11th, it was Carl Everett and Roberto Alomar's first game with the Sox and Frank hit a walk off in the 12th off of Guardado. There may only of been 19,555 fans there but it sounded like 40,000.

Garland: Bad: Outings where he's surrendered more than 4 ER = 4 Outings where he's surrendered 10 or more hits = 3 Outings where he's issued 3 or more walks = 2 Outings where he's surrendered 3 or more HRs = 2 Good: Outings where he's held the oppenent to 2 ERs or less = 13 Outings where he's held the opponent to 0 ERs =3 Outings where he's held the opponent to 4 or less hits = 5 Outings where he's issued 1 walk or less to the opponent = 15 Outings where he has managed to not walk a single batter = 3 Buehrle: Bad: Outings where he's surrendered more than 4 ER = 3 Outings where he's surrendered 10 or more hits = 3 Outings where he's issued 3 or more walks = 3 Outings where he's surrendered 3 or more HRs = 1 Good Outings where he's held the oppenent to 2 ERs or less = 13 Outings where he's held the opponent to 0 ERs = 6 Outings where he's held the opponent to 4 or less hits = 4 Outings where he's issued 1 walk or less to the opponent = 15 Outings where he has managed to not walk a single batter = 7 The fact of the matter is, even as dominate as Garland has been this year, Buehrle has been even better. Garland may have 3 more wins however Buehrle IMO as of August 7th is the AL Cy Young.

That's the best thing you've made thus far.

In order to have no background on an image you have to save it as a smart object. .gif will give you what you need, but you already know that.
