  1. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 03:00 AM) I heard this rumor on the radio, but I can't remember who said it. They did say that Reds ownership killed it because of the PR nightmare they thought it would cause. Anyway, is there still a chance that Griffey Jr. clears waivers and the Sox could revisit a trade for him? For his bat and his defense, it'd be great to pick him up, especially if at least a decent portion of that deferred money (along with some of his contract) would be picked up by the Reds without the Sox giving up the farm. Any chance he'd be a clubhouse disruption? Also, if he were to come here (I know I'm thinking way too far ahead on this, but it would be an issue), what would the OF situation be, or would he just DH? This thread will answer all of your questions. Oh yeah, Rowand posted that comment before the Griffey to the Sox rumors were ever reported....
  2. I can honestly say I have no idea how I wound up here. I found the site around thanksgiving of '03, I lurked for months until someone posted something that pissed me off and I had to register and say something to them. I was once named the next Jeckle which I tood offense to and stopped posting here for like 4 months, then something happened in the White Sox world and I came back. I have since quit approximatley 4 times yet always seem to find my way back here. I know I'll excape this place someday but I don't see it happening anytime soon.
  3. Ryan Dempster does a s***ty Harry Caray however he is better than Will Ferrell who's Harry Caray impression is vastly overrated.
  4. Whipped this together this morning.
  5. Gotta love Ronny, he adds so much to the Cubs radio broadcast. That's probably why they were ranked 13th in the NL by USA today when it comes to Baseball Radio broadcasts.
  6. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Don't look now but Derek Lee currently leads in 0 triple crown catagories. That's because Miguel Cabrera is 100X better hitter than he is and this year Andruw Jones is displaying more power than anyone had expected (got him late in my fantasy draft,he's paying dividends), not to mention the fact that Pujols is a better run producer than DLee and CLee is having an unbelievable power year in Milwaukee. DLee is a very good player but there was no way in hell he was going to win the Triple Crown.
  7. QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) I do find it hard to believe the Tiger series the weekend before couldn't accomodate a group this large. Just everyone take a chill pill, you act like everything Brooks does is perfect. IMO he (or whoever coordinated this) screwed up big time cause not every kid can take the day off of school for a baseball game. What time do you go to sleep on a given school night? I've had no problem over my 18 years of going to Sox games, going to a 7:05 game and waking up plenty rested the next morning for school. I usually would get home around 11:15 and I'm up at 5:45 every morning. Maybe you should push your bedtime back past 9 o'clock for one day. Oh yeah and I'm having a hard time finding something that Brooks has sqrewed up since he's been with the Sox.
  8. Eric Byrnes gotta love those 37 career SBs and 4 this year. Not to mention Omar Vizquel who over the past 5 seasons at most has had at most 19 SBs in the given time frame. Get Jose Reyes and Scott Podsednik in there. Reyes is widely considered the fastest player in baseball and Podsednik leads the majors in SBs.

    Freddy

He was on Seattle from '99 to the beginning of '04. The starting pitcher for Seattle yesterday, Joel Piniero, is a good friend of his from thier days of being in the same rotation for 1.5 years. However I thought Freddy had good stuff yesterday and looked pretty good on the mound. I'm not worried about him AT ALL.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Only if it were true.... :rolly Besides, can you really argue against it? Absolutely not it's quite true and do not take that out of your sig, it's funny.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) My attempt your holy administrationess: I might come up with one by tomorrow morning just to show you up. I might get around to it, no gaurantee. Honestly, that's one of your better sigs to date, you toned down the size compared to your others, you're very good at cropping images as well. Very simple. Though you do love scan lines don't you?
  12. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) Jason is either saying that JR could be a player again once the rust is off, or that he thinks JR is tasty if you skin him. I'm not quite sure. Or maybe he's saying if you scraped the black burnt parts off of that toast, you could eat it and it would be mighty tasty.
  13. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) but that is exactly what Ozzie did to him by refusing to give him consistent work. Look what Viz was able to do when he got consistent work. Shingo is one of those guys and Ozzie should've given him that work especially when Marte went down since that was when Shingo was on his hot streak. If he would have given Shingo anymore innings especially in clutch situations we'd probably have 3-4 more losses right now.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Where's a Cowboys one? :puke
  15. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) are the pics available on line anywhere? You have to buy the mag. ESPN doesn't usually release thier pictures online.
  16. QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) My concern. The Yanks always want veteran experience in the playoffs. Shingo has that experience. Not only that, but if we play the yanks in post season, how much will Shingo's addrenalin be flying to get back at us for letting him go after having a 2nd place fininish for rookie of the year last year, and then using him to help us land Gooch, and now when he was starting to work things out, and finally we say "Thanks for everything fella" "We got what we wanted out of you, now go take a hike!!!" We didn't tell him to take a hike we tried to send him down to Charlotte, as a matter of fact he accepted the assignment but changed his mind before reporting and requested his release.
  17. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) i think he would have success with the yankees. He would be used for sure because of how weak their rotation is right now. Also that is a big ballpark which will benefit any pitcher. The ball flies out of Yankee Stadium down the lines (318 to left | 314 to right + the HR porch). With Shingo throwing the ball 65 MPH, he could have huge trouble if hitters sit back on his slow s*** or look for the fastball and get it. In many ways Yankee Stadium could really turn out to be worse for Shingo than the Cell was for him even with 399 and 385 to the gaps.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) Also, that was 1998 vs. 2005..... That was before the baseball salaries exploded. $6M/yr was huge back then. Which adds even more validity to my point. NO team will claim Griffey and some people just don't understand this.
  19. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) How did I know this was going to be a Florida story even before I read it? :headshake I'm the only sane ine left down here it seems. Just about every weird/horrible/brain scratching thing comes out of either Germany or Florida.
  20. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) $12M for 2 years for Randy Myers is a much safer bet than the $50M+ owed to Griffey. No way he gets claimed by anyone. That was my point, if the Padres got sqrewed by paying $14M (much closer to the actually figure) over two years for Randy Myers. Then NO team will claim Griffey and risk taking on a contract that is 1000X riskier.
  21. QUOTE(Spiff @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) If MLB is smart they'll release it later tonight. When has MLB ever shown a trifle of intelligent thought?
