  1. Ex-Bears head coach Lovie Smith plans to sit out the 2013 season and return as a head coach in 2014. The Chicago Sun-Times reported the same thing earlier this month, but head-coaching jobs were still open at the time, so it wasn't set in stone. Smith apparently has no interest in the defensive-coordinator vacancies in Philadelphia or New Orleans, even though they wouldn't seem to have interest in him either. Smith will be 56 years old once the 2014 season rolls around. Per Rotoworld Lovie found out he wasn't in demand as he thought!
  2. QUOTE (Carter224 @ Jan 27, 2013 -> 09:52 PM) I agree, however, in the big picture Rock/Cena 2 for the Title at Wrestlemania is the optimal main event and there is really no argument against that. Sadly, this means Cena will be champ again in 70 days.. that is what is so so boring Cena winning at Mania makes me want to vomit also!
  3. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 02:16 PM) El Generico signed with the WWE...LIKE...I hope they don't change his gimmick, or at least leave him masked. A pasty, thin, Canadian would struggle to get over, but a generic luchador?? gold!....For those that don't follow indy wrestling here's a taste.... Probably more than half these move will be "too dangerous" but you get the idea. Heard he is losing the mask and a name change being sent to Florida for 6 month stint..........................SuperCENA again..........Rock won a fun match..............I enjoyed Goldust/Cody in the rumble.
  4. Earlier today, the White Sox hosted SoxFest 2013, an interactive event where fans got the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with General Manager Rick Hahn. Executive Vice President and former GM Kenny Williams couldn't resist joining in and closed things out when he asked Hahn if he'll do a better job than his predecessor. Hahn responded by saying that the last GM had a better support staff in place (via White Sox on Twitter) and drew laughs from everyone in attendance. Here's more on the White Sox.. •Hahn said that the White Sox haven't shopped Dayan Viciedo but added that no one is untouchable, tweets Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune. It was reported last month that the White Sox discussed deals involving Viciedo and Alejandro De Aza. •The GM was asked about the departure of A.J. Pierzynski and he explained that the money that would have gone to the catcher was instead re-routed to Jake Peavy, Jeff Keppinger, and Matt Lindstrom, tweets Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune. Hahn also expressed confidence in catcher Tyler Flowers' abilities. •A fan asked Hahn about the decision to claim Zach Stewart off of waivers from the Pirates. The GM explained that Stewart adds depth to the team's pitching, cost the team very little, and has big league experience, Gonzales tweets. The White Sox's decision to pick up Stewart yesterday marked the second time that they have acquired the right-hander in two years. Per Mlbrumors
  5. The Bears attempted to sign impending free agent DT Henry Melton to an in-season extension, but were unable to strike a deal. Melton's stance seems to suggest he'll be pursuing big money either as a free agent or from the Bears. With 13 sacks over the past two seasons and a team-high 24 QB pressures in 2012, Melton's certainly has earned it. Still just 26, Melton will be a coveted three-technique tackle if he hits the market. The Bears are expected to offer him a four-year deal, but financial terms are unknown. and ESPN Chicago confirms that Bears WR Johnny Knox will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. We read in-season speculation that Knox's salary would "toll" to 2013 because he spent 2012 on PUP, but that won't happen. After missing the entire season with a fractured vertebrae in his back, Knox's health status is the biggest concern for his market appeal. The 26-year-old is a quality deep threat when healthy. Per Rotoworld
  6. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Orioles have signed Jair Jurrjens to a one-year, $1.5 million contract. The total value could be pushed up to $4 million if Jurrjens reaches all of his incentives. The right-hander is coming off a brutal 6.89 ERA and 1.86 WHIP across 48 1/3 innings in 2012, as he hasn't been the same pitcher over the last year and a half due to a nagging knee injury. If Jurrjens can remain healthy, though, he could wind up being a nice back-end starter for the O's. I thought this is the type of guy Coop would love to get his hands on.

  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) No we won't. It's not a big deal either way. For all I know, they could finish behind Cleveland or Minnesota, or they could finish ahead of Detroit. Point being, paying any sort of attention to the prediction of analysts is like taking the advice of a psychic seriously. They may know some information about you and come to an informed prediction, but they can't predict the future. Kansas City should be better this year - it doesn't mean they'll be better than the White Sox. The Royals still need a lot to go right and the White Sox a lot to go wrong before they flip in the division. It's just that, as opposed to prior years, the amounts are slightly lesser. That is my opinion on KC not about what some analysts writes.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) Because analysts are 100% spot-on when it comes to their predictions. How many times do we have to go over this before people will start taking analysts' opinions for the grain of salt they're worth? If they finish behind KC we will pick up this conversation up again!
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) Still doesn't matter Does to me Sox could not beat KC last year before they improved there team this year, and cost Sox the AL Central in 2012.
  12. KC ranked to finish ahead of the Sox in alot of predictions of the AL Central.
