This is the first time I get to see Griffey play on the Sox so I'm happy to see he hit a homer. -

GRIFFEY!!!!! -
I don't care what we win as long as we get into the playoffs. Sure the division would be best but the last 6 World Series have had a wild card team in it.

Looks like Kenny knew what he was doing once again.....

He gets more than his fair share of blame from a lot of people. Sometimes we have to remember he did help bring a World Series title to the team, which I will value for the rest of my life, even if I was only witnessing it on TV. It's funny how many people rip him, including myself, then say they were wrong. -
Does this mean I should end my boycott of France?
WilliamTell replied to Chet Lemon's topic in The Filibuster
French boycotts are still going on? That was so 5 years ago, haha. FREEDOM FRIES, FREEDOM TOAST. I remember when Bill O'Rielly was doing this, I wasn't too into the boycott, but I wanted to be a pain in the butt to one of my teachers when we were using some French products for class, and a few others and myself said we had boycotted French products. Basically the teacher got pissed and nothing else happened, haha. -
Make a wild or bold predicition for the 2008 Sox

I don't give you props often Balta, mainly because of our differences in political aspects, but you did an awesome job on the predictions with Cabrera and Floyd, nicely done. I like Crede and all, but that would've been awesome trading him for Tim Luncecum. -
Congrats on the AL Central- From a Twins Fan

Dean calls the Republican party the 'White Party"
WilliamTell replied to EvilMonkey's topic in The Filibuster
Haha funny. My state has roughly 3% blacks. If they don't want to be in Iowa that's their problem, we're some of the friendliest people in the country, which is a reason why there are a tremendous amount of Hispanics moving into areas, so the Hispanics say anyways. Obviously I am not referring to appointments. I wasn't surprised about the blacks differential, I was surprised to see the slim margin for other races. Let's wait for 3 years before complaining that we're the first Caucus or Primary and you're not. And Iowa is still my home state, haha. -
Since we're talking all-time favorite Sox players...

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) I don't consider Lance Johnson an obscure player. What about Joey Cora? I remember Charlie O'Brian wearing the hockey mask as a catcher and thought it was cool. Never liked him, or Robert Machado. Mike Deveraux, however it's spelled. No Joe Borchard or James Baldwin love? -
lol I got 25 problems, I don't need 26.

Twins will win the division, I'm throwing it back at you 1987-1991, haha. It says this person signed up on July 30th, odd to have the first post 3 weeks later, but whatever. -
watching this game with the A's I thought they were going to blow up, but luckily they did not.

with the exception of African-Americans, those numbers are not a major difference. -
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) Post count seems to be fairly important to some people. I remember when there was a possibilty that the board would reset and all post counts would be lost. That was met with a lot of resistance just on the fact of losing post counts. The thread is lingering around here somewhere. That could be another reason the bored has "slown" down, if it even has. Possibly not as many people care about post counts as they did a few years ago. There were some people in the past that posted just to post and brought nothing to the topic, just an "I agree" or something to add another post.

The biggest difference is the game thread posts like the thread initially mentioned. I think having a terrible year last year might have something to do with it compared to 2006 when we were the reigning champions, but I'm not quite sure. Someone else also mentioned people growing up and getting jobs, which I'm sure has contributed. And if people are like me, they have other things to do instead of sit on a computer. I'm not saying sitting on a computer and reading everything on this site is a bad thing, but people now have kids or other important factors and do not have time to be on a message board routinely. 2 years ago I was at 12 posts a day, now I'm at 7.3 so I have been a victim of not being on the site as well.

And it will probably be blacked out for me. I still haven't gotten to see Griffey play for the White Sox.
