  1. QUOTE (quickman @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) this is a joke right? Who the hell cares? Your worried about a number? Like I said before, someone said they were going to get a Griffey jersey. All three numbers he's worn are taken by the Sox, it was just a side question. Not a big deal.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) I wonder does this mean Wise will be DFA'd? (Wouldn't make any sense to pull the plug on Anderson, being right-handed and all and he can still run) I'd prefere Griffey to just take Masset's spot. We don't need 12 pitchers on the team. 11 is suitable in my opinion. But Ozzie like's 12.
  3. QUOTE (quickman @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) who cares what number somebody has, why does this even matter? someone mentioned getting a jersey, you wouldn't want #49 or #37 or #73 now would you?
  4. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) Wow, this is weird. Could this mean that Paulie gets shut down and Thome moves back to 1B (or splits time with Paulie there)? Because I don't see Griffey playing CF with Anderson, Wise, and Swish at this disposal. At least we didn't have to give up too much for him. I've asked the Thome question before and since we didn't see Thome at 1B during interleague when Konerko was down, we definately won't see him at 1B now.
  5. So what number does Griffey wear? 24 is taken by Crede and I don't see him giving it up. 30 is take by Swisher, he seems like a team player but I know I wouldn't give up my number if someone else is cutting my playing time. 3 is taken by Harold Baines and is retired anyways.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) That's an interesting overture, William Tell. haha nice one, on my XM radio they've confirmed the trade as well. I don't mind giving Richar up, 2B/SS is probably our deepest spot in the farm system and I don't see Richar playing too much in the future if he was here.
  7. I'd rather see Griffey to go right, Swisher stay in center, and Dye play first. I've heard many posters talk about Dye playing first in the future, maybe this is the time now.
  8. Maybe Ozzie knew something about the Griffey deal ahead of time, because it looks like Konerko will be getting rest now.
  9. Griffey coming here, I'll be honest, like a lot of you guys, I'm skeptical of this trade. I don't think it helps the team like a boost we are hoping for.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) Why would we want to forget it if we split? We'd be able to come back and take the next 2 after coming out flat in the 1st two. If anything, it'd be a moral victory to play so bad the 1st 2 and leave the series with the same lead as we came in with. Especially with the next series vs KC and a 10 game homestand looming... Just because in the scheme of the standings it looks like it never happened if we win tomorrow. We should've won yesterday but that's over with. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Every time the Sox go to Minnesota it seems like they always steal a game or two from the Sox.
  11. Let's get a win tomorrow and forget this trip to Minnesota ever happened.
  12. the Twins are after Brian Roberts according to their network announcers.
  13. I really like Swisher, but man I'd prefere Ryan Sweeney out there. Actually I would've prefered Torii Hunter but that didn't happen.
  14. that was just the greatest catch in the world, or at least sounded like it according to Dick Bremer.
  15. that was an outside pitch to Swisher, I hate complaining about pitches, but cmon, this is unreal.
  16. Twins Bullpen ERA at home 1.92 on the road, 5.00
  17. first strike called that high of the game happened with Cabrera.
  18. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) In after work, how was richard? Good through 4, terrible in the 5th.
  19. QUOTE (Wedge @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) my beacon of hope is how the Twins fared the last time they came to the Cell. Well the only .500 teams they play on the road are the Angels, A's (slumping), Blue Jays (I know they're around .500), and Rays (who I predict will fall off by the end of the year.) They play the Mariners twice, Royals, Orioles, and Indians on the road as well.
  20. QUOTE (aboz56 @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:37 PM) I know I hardly post anymore, but having to watch this and hear Dick Bremer on the call is painful. Oh he is terrible, people talk about how big of a homer Hawk is, if the Twins had a nation wide station like WGN they'd be up in arms with Dick Bremer.
  21. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) no one should be surrprised, this is their game, using that turf to mfg runs they seriously will be hurting once they don't have that turf anymore, and I don't think the fans realize that.
  22. Morneau will somehow get RBI's here.
  23. Maybe it's just an every 5 year deal for Paul. In 1998 with limited action he hit .219, in 2003 he hit .234, and now he's at .219. His career average is around .280, but after last year's .259, you have to wonder if his good years are past.
  24. Come on Paul, you can get out of this slump.
  25. I was gonna go to tomorrow's game to see Mark pitch, but I couldn't get it off. Have fun!!!
