I'm not losing much weight if anything, but my body is looking better so that's a plus. I'm lifting weights and working in a lumber yard so I'm putting on the muscle. Keep at it everyone.

Our "Pickle" was called "Hop Box" in Iowa. We used to play that a lot, with a tennis ball too. I remember a friend and I throwing a tennis ball about 350 feet because we got it wet and threw it with the wind. Another game we played a lot was kickball, and those were competitive games. Sometimes the dads would even come out and play. We used to use a monsterous rubber ball, probably 2 foot in diameter. We had cross outs at first base and at home and you could always hit the person. Once a cross out happened or the person was hit, people at other bases could not advance. We had 5 run rules, and since we were playing on the street, if the ball was kicked farther than 100 feet, which was 5 lenghts of concrete slabs, it was a home run. In football we used those concrete slabs on the road for 10, 20, 30 etc. yard lines. Meaning we had a 200 foot long field and probably a 35 foot wide field, so pretty odd dimensions. The one 1st down was after you passed the 50 yard line. You had to go for it on 4th down. When someone scored a touchdown, they'd do dances which would piss off people. When we threw the ball for the kick off we'd just yell "coming down" and then everyone would scream as we would run to the ball. I basically live in a "cul-de-sac" however it's spelled, since there's one way in and one way out. But actually it's a square, so we would also have bike relays. We'd have teams and take turns riding around the block, once someone came, the next would go and so on. We'd play capture the flag as well, but we could never get fair teams because certain people always wanted to be on the same team. I mentioned we'd play Ghosts in the Graveyard too, we called it base or home base. Finally sometimes we'd just make up games, which was fun. And we'd have an annual water balloon fight which was an enhanced capture the flag game.

Bunt singles are always good. Reminds me of my last at bat in high school, never laid down a bunt in all of high school until then. -
I love hats probably just like a lot of you on the board, but I have never known how to wash a hat effectively, especially a wool hat without it shrinking. I have a couple of white hats that are starting to look nasty because of the dirt getting collected by them. I have been looking around on the internet but basically in regards to wool hats, it's looking like there isn't much you can do. Does anyone have any tips on how to wash wool, cotton, and polyester hats? Thanks.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) Maybe they could just lend him to some NL team for a few days to rehab. No Kidding. AL > NL NL = AAAA

and what a monsterous bump it is.

Yeah when the Bears and Vikings need quarterbacks, the Packers won't release him, and it's understandable. Trade him to KC please.

Regarding Ghosts in the Graveyard, we used to play that when I was younger. In fact I'm 22, last year living at home with the parents, but the younger neighborhood kids come to my door, and some of the other 18-20 year olds to get them to play Ghosts in the Graveyard. So sometimes we have about 15 people from ages 7-22 playing, it's kind of rediculous, but fun.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 02:47 AM) saw 'Wanted' tonight and I was expecting it to suck, but I enjoyed it. Angelina is hotter than ever, the violence was absurd and the Chicago scenes are kick ass. A rental for sure. I enjoyed wanted and yes, Angelina is very hott. I really want to read the spoilers on Hancock but I want to see it more.

I still want him on the team.

This reminds me of the Hollinger ratings on ESPN for basketball, this is pretty cool stuff too. Right now it says we have the best chance at making the playoffs in the American League at 76.6%.

With Jenks on the DL, how do you manage this roster?

Dotel has the past history of closing so I would give him the edge, but I would also like to see what Thornton can do right now. I've been overly impresses with him so far this year. -
If we still had Wright as a 5th starter like in 2003 then yes, but we have 5 starters so no.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) IIRC...Jermaine was in the Derby at the AS game at the new Pittsburgh digs a few years back. I remember that because of this MONSTEROUS DINGER he hit. I've never seen him hit one that far. Yeah he was in it.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) The twins are as hot as a team can get during a season of ups and downs, and yet we still held them off so far. In 2006 they started getting hot in June, and never let up.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 06:38 AM) Maybe he can sign with the Twins or Tigers to make us all feel better If he signed with the Twins he'd magically become the best setup man in the division.

Which should mean 2 more American Leaguers, and I think A-Rod is not doing the derby. I would guess either Jermaine or Carlos would get an invite.

it's always nice to win a game without a homer, it'll help that ugly win loss record when having no homers.

It was the best tennis match I've seen since Agassi and Blake a few years back at the U.S. Open.

Ozzie, please let Thorton be the closer when Jenks isn't playing. -
dangit, I really like Federer and for some reason cannot stand Nadal, but I have to give him props, that was an awesome match.
-
Yeah, Federer just messed up by losing his serve, dang.

this is great, we're on the brink of imploding this inning and the Indians can't find the strike zone against the Twins, it's 3-3 now and 1 out with the bases loaded for Minnesota. -

could be bases loaded no outs, if that Thome hit would've counted. I've never seen a time out that late before.
