NCAA basketball 2015-16 thread
WilliamTell replied to cabiness42's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm looking at the Battle 4 Atlantis lineup and there could have been some pretty awesome storylines if they had gone with certain matchup. 1. UConn vs Syracuse -obviously an old Big East showdown. 2. Texas vs Texas A&M -Battle of the state of Texas, plus the scools had a big disagreement in regards to the whole changing conference deal. 3. Washington vs Gonzaga -State of Washington battle. The schools don't really get along. 4. Michigan vs. Charlotte -Process of elimination, however thsee two teams squared off in a tournament in 2013 and Charlotte won. Instead they have these games: 1. UConn vs. Michigan 2. Syracuse vs. Charlotte 3. Washington vs. Gonzaga 4. Texas vs. Texas A&M So at least the state battles are still happening. Washington and Texas are already scheduled this year before the tournament so I can see why they aren't matched up initially. -
O for 9 with RISP? So sad.

Sizemore.....really????

Not only do the Twins get a gift from the Mariners, they also don't have to face Felix Hernandez in a 4 game series. What luck!

This is exactly how I feel.

Lol Eaton! -
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) Last two weeks of that season still hurt. Chicago was better than Minnesota in basically in every stat catagory besides the ever important win/loss. Yeah poor Paulie in 2003. Brian Daubach was starting ahead of him for a stretch.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) Frank Thomas said Pedro and big unit were the toughest pitcher's he's ever faced. This wasn't vs Pedro, but one of my favorite at bats was vs the twins and eddie guardado in extra innings. It was another long at bat and Frank Thomas hit a long shot that just went foul down left field. Very next pitch, Frank hits a walk off homer down left field. Haha yep. Same thought!

Mark Buehrle and Rafeal Palmeiro had an epic 19 pitch at bat where Palmeuro ended up getting a walk. The crowd cheered and gave a standing ovation. In 2003 I remember Frank Thomas fouling off a few pitches only to hit a walk off home run off the Twins. Paul Konerko hit a 2 strike, 2 out homer in the 9th to keep the game alive.

I don't want to call myself a pessimist because I would be incredibly happy to see the Sox back in the playoffs. My doubt is there are a lot of teams vying for 2 spots and this year as a whole hasn't been a good indicator on them being a playoff team. My worst case scenario is that the front office doesn't want to trade off players such as Samardzja and we fell flat on our face the rest of the year.

I know this is the Sox thread but ARod just hit his 3rd homer tonight to tie the game at 5 with Minnesota. -

What the hell? I decide to check on the score and see 5 runs in the first? Not possible! -
For the most part I was pleasantly surprised with Antman.

Last Friday I had to see goodbye to my cat of nearly 15 years. It was super hard to deal with considering he's been like a best friend over my teenage years and almost entirely through my 20's. Whenever I had buddies over Cow (black and white cat) would hang out with the guys and watch TV or be in the center of the video games being played. We think he had cancer because even 2 weeks before his death he was his usual self, then all of a sudden he just stopped eating, got weaker and weaker, then stopped drinking. We took him to the vet and he said it was time for the cat to move on. Didn't realize how upset I could be over a cat, but he was part of the family. Seeing your own pet take a breath for the last time is obviously an incredibly sad, but touching moment in a way. He died in my arms, and it kind of tied our bond together forever. A bizarre thing was that Cow was exactly 14 years and 10 months when he passed. That day I was a day shy of 4 months shy of 30. I decided to add up all the days and strangely enough, he lived exactly 1/2 of my life the day he passed.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) He made Dellavadova look like a good starting PG, doesn't matter what trash they'll put around those 3. May have trouble finding a good C when Mozgov can't be re-signed thou. I'm sure they'll get some 34 year old Tyson Chandler sign for league min and win championships. Chandler 4 year $52 mil and Knight 5 year $70 mil to Phoenix.

Lol saw it was 4-0. Figured I'd check up on the score. Kinda had a hunch it was a 5-4 loss. Needless to say that I was still shocked.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) LaRoche is a C. He's about where he should be, but certainly no better. Personally, Abreu is a C- for me. He's contributing better than anyone else but he's absolutely incredibly disappointing on the year so far. Definitely not completely defending Abreu because I feel the same way. But it'd be nice for him to have the 2014 1 and 2 hitters in front of him compared to this year's version. The offense would be so much better obviously.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:17 PM) I do hate John Danks. Probably not since Danny Wright have I wanted a White Sox pitcher to be gone. Ahhh he was so bad. I remember Hawk defending him all the time too. I coach 9 and 10 year old girls softball and I enjoy telling the same few girls every game where left and right field is more than I enjoy watching this garbage tonight. So stupid. So uninspired. So unnecessary. The Sox love giving runs to the Twins while taking away runs for themselves.
-
Lol I almost hate this team. So uncalled for.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) My first thought was CTE, until I realized he was the victim Steve McNair was kind of the same situation too. Wow such sad news.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) He's only made one staff hire. Supposedly going after Isaac Chew from VT. Did you hear anything about Greg Marshall interviewin for the Iowa State job? Sounds crazy if it's true. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 11:30 PM) That was back tonight!? Sounds like I have some stuff to watch the next couple days Yep! ABC on Sunday nights! It's crazy seeing the evolution nearly 15 years later.
