    2015 TV Thread

Lol I loved Battlebots as a teen and still do in my late 20's.
  2. The guy who caught A-Rod's 3000th hit, home run ball says he's not giving it back. But to me the incredible part of the story is that this guy says he's caught over 8,000 balls. I can't even get 1 when I'm at games.
  3. Seriously who's 3 for 28 with the bases loaded? Tyler Flowers that's who.
  4. Awesome play Beckham. Just feel a lot more comfortable with him at 3rd.
  5. I actually like Alexei batting 2nd. Maybe he's more focused.
  6. Just got done watching. I have no confidence in Jennings. I figured their leadoff hitter would get on and once that happened I knew the Sox would lose it in that inning.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 30, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) Kirk Ferentz is immortal because he finishes over .500 nearly every year. Lol I'll never understand that. So many "In Kirk We Trust" Hawkeye fans.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 30, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) In Iowa, sure. The rest of the world could care less though. Hoiberg is an NBA guy. He wants to coach in the best league in the world with and against the best player in the world. Do you know why he'd leave Ames, Iowa? Because the Chicago Bulls called and you can't turn it down. When Stevens was asked about why he left Butler, he said, "Because it's the Boston Celtics". Not really sure why this is hard to understand. I totally think he should go if he has NBA coaching aspirations. He didn't want to make the jump last year to the NBA but I guess he had a daughter in her last year of school so it's understandable. Obviously Hoiberg is an NBA guy. Played for 10 years, was in the front office for Minnesota. Nobody should be shocked that he could leave. ISU should thank him for his 5 years.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ May 27, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Twins and Royals 28-18. Didn't see that coming. The Twins have a had a pretty easy schedule. Now the Royals are 29-18 while the Twins are 28-19. Kansas City vs. teams +.500 is 20-13 while Minnesota vs. teams +.500 is 9-11 So Kansas City has played 33 of 47 games against good teams in essence while Minnesota has played 20 of 47 games against above .500 opponents. But the Twins are winning games they're supposed to if they want to be a good team so credit to them. Anyone keep up with the Twins/Blue Jays game last night? Buerhle gave up 4 runs and 5 hits in the first inning. Then faced the minimum the last 8 innings only giving up 1 hit. Buerhle had 45 pitches after 2 innings, then only 66 the last 7 innings. Edit: Just saw the Rays are under. 500 now so that means only 17 of 47 games for Minnesota have been with teams at or above. 500.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2015 -> 06:07 AM) Except if you won an NCAA championship in bb or fb at Iowa or Iowa State, you would be above God for the rest of your life. Heck yeah. Hayden Fry is immortal in Iowa because he had some great football teams. Heck, Ben Jacobson is Northern Iowa has probably entered Saint-hood for sticking with the Panthers this long and having a decent to good team every few years. I guess with Hoiberg I feel, if he just wants a coaching job in the NBA, they'll always been available year in and year out, but if he truly wants to coach the Bulls, this may be his only chance, at least for a while.
  11. Gattis and Carter are batting .225 and .186 currently, of course they have a combined 4 hits in this game thus far.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:47 PM) Death by paper cuts in this inning. What are the odds of escaping? Based on this year's efforts and unluckiness, not good. 1 in 3 maybe? Over/under of 3.5 Call me an optimist but I'll go with over because, I don't know....things have to change eventually.....hopefully.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) totally unrelated. any ideas of their intentions on this yr draft?? I mentioned it because I saw a story that he wanted to make a comeback and the Bulls and Pelicans were two of the top teams. He graduated from Iowa State so there is a correlation between Hoiberg and White. Not sure what the Bulls want to do for the draft since I'm not a fan of them.
  14. If Hoiberg joins the Bulls, do you think or even want Royce White joining Chicago?
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) It would be interesting to see what recruiting strategy he would take....following in the Hoiberg path of JC's and transfers and international signings or doing things more traditionally? There's just not much of a track record. One thing's for certain, in Iowa....where you have guys like Self or Roy Williams or Bo Ryan to compete with just for your best in-state players, then you're sharing the state with UNI, Drake, Creighton, Nebraska to an extent, you BETTER have a plan that extends outside the state (for example, more Chicago Public League players)...Milwaukee...KC...Minneapolis, St. Louis, etc. Very true.....also not trying to swirl rumors around and maybe this was mentioned before. Apparently last off season the Warriors were interested in Hoiberg but he wasn't ready to leave so it ended quickly. I know a guy that works close to Hoiberg so if I happen to hear anything I'll pass it on but you guys will probably know before me!
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 28, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) http://arizonasports.com/41/1837890/Jeff-H...ach-of-the-Suns Meanwhile, maybe Iowa State is going after the Suns head coach. We do run the Association, ya know. Has it been noted that Jeff Hornacek wants to coach in college? Is he disgruntled at Phoenix? He's done a pretty good job there. I hear the rumors swirling around here but I just don't see him going back to the college he walked onto 30 years ago as long as he's an NBA head coach.
  17. We tried to do this when I was a freshman in high school. Umps didn't allow it and just as you would have it, we lose on a wild pitch.
  18. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ May 26, 2015 -> 09:58 PM) It is what it is. To think I was mildly excited one week ago. 6 game winning streak obviously 6-0 in that span followed by a 1-7 streak has now nullified that winning streak.
  19. Lol wow! Just when I thought to myself they have this in the bag, I remembered that it's the White Sox and once you assume something positive will happen, they'll take the liberty of doing the opposite. And obviously that happened in the 9th I see. I really hate to be negative but this team is just flat out rediculous currently.
  20. Overtime. I love how James and Thompson were in the lane for 6 seconds when LeBron got fouled on the rebound with just over a minute to go.
  21. They need to try something crazy like move Alexei back up to the 2nd spot even though he's swinging and 58 foot pitches right now. Move Melky down to the 7th spot or something. It's hard to be any worse than what they're doing currently. Just try something different. It's so bothersome seeing LaRoche and Cabrera have higher on base percentages (which are also very low) than they do slugging percentages (which is putrid.)
  22. It is so hard to watch this team at times. They are always so uninspiring against Minnesota, although this team has been uninspiring most of the year.
  23. The Twins have like 5 or 6 hits in innings 4 through 9 on this road trip. No runs during those innings, yet are 3-1 on this trip.
