Wow am I really behind. I didn't know Borchard went to the Marlins. I guess I missed the Mariners/Marlins trade. He almost just hit one out. Warning track power.

Charles Johnson has the record for the National League, right?

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 18, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) border patrol and customs both work the bridges. And it's the citizens down here that aren't too excited about living in a militarized zone. Yeah, that's understandable that the Texans also don't like living in a militarized zone.

haha I don't dance ever so none for me.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 18, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) LeBron at home makes me think Cleveland will win, plus they might have Larry Hughes back. However it's a must win, this is their big chance, because NO WAY they can go win game 7 at Detroit. The playoffs have been fantastic so far. I'm afraid there will be a let down after this round. Who knows though. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 18, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) So...on the other topic that's mentionned in that article...Albert not really being 26, who the Hell cares at this point? Whether he's 26, 18, 35, 47...he's doing some amazing things with the bat. Yeah no kidding. It's obviously not as bad as Julio Franco, but just like him, aslong as they produce who cares.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 18, 2006 -> 11:45 AM) I see where the thought comes from, and if I'm wrong and Congress is playing with the pursestrings too much then it would make sense to have the SecDef able to negotiate with Congress for border patrol funds...but aside from that, I don't know where the benefit would be. As far as I know, the border patrol is already able to use military style resources, moving them to DOD wouldn't suddenly change their training, and it wouldn't suddenly make more manpower available. Plus, there's the downside of again having the Mexicans complain about militarizing the border if suddenly the border patrol is loosely considered part of the army, and for some reason we seem to care about that complaint. Well I don't think it'd be the best idea really either. I just felt like posted a thought that went through my mind. Yeah the Mexicans would complain about militarizing the border and I don't really think we should care about that complaint as much as we do.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 18, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) After game 1 I wasn't, but after the Cavs nearly rallied to win game 2 I had a funny feeling this series would get interesting. However, I was shocked the Cavs won a game at Detroit, that was why I didn't "have the balls" to pick the Cavs, I didn't think Detroit would lose at home. haha well you're still up on me. I'm still thinking Detroit is going to win the series. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 18, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) Well, here's your question...where is the "border patrol" less likely to have people screw around with its budget? If its budgeted by Congress, or if it's a part of the Defense Department and subject to the whim of the SecDef? I think it'd probably be much more likely to wind up having a few billion dollars borrowed from it to prepare for random invasions if DOD had control of its pursestrings than if Congress did. Yeah possibly, I just had a thought. I didn't say if it was a good one or not, it was just an interesting thought to me.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 18, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) Ugh, I should have had the balls to just pick Cleveland outright like I wanted to. I bet you weren't thinking this 3 games ago, haha. -
Joey Cora will be a manager someday I'm thinking.
-
Good stuff. I can't wait for the series to start. It would've been hilarious had the Sox waiting to give out the rings for this series.
-
This is kinda off the discussion going on, but I was thinking yesterday and heard the border patrol mentioned and thought that it might be a decent idea to make them a new branch of military or put them in the Cost Guard like the Marines are with the Navy. I know there are National Guard troops going down there, and I don't know if it would end up saving money or not, probably not. I just had that thought though.

Albert's a classy guy, nothing wrong with defending him in public.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 18, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) Actually, according to the police report, the choking happened before the bat throw. Well you said "No word whether or not he also liked to throw bats at her." So that's why I was thinking it was afterwords since I didn't read the link.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 18, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Tigers' DH Dmitri Young's ex girlfriend has accused him of choking her. The charge carries a max penalty of 93 days in jail and a small fine. No word whether or not he also liked to throw bats at her. Dmitri was geting jealous that his brother was getting all the attention, he had to do something in return.

Last year this division was just plain terrible. I still don't think this division is that good this year, but all the teams are above .500. Colorado is probably overachieving, and who knows if San Deigo will play like this all year. I see 5 average at best teams in that division.

AL East Boston 23-15 New York 23-15 AL Central Chicago 26-13 Detroit 26-13 AL West Oakland 20-19 Texas 20-19 I just thought this was kinda interesting, you don't see it too often at this point in the season.

Wow, Bonderman has the worst ERA out of the 5 right now, that's insane. 23 game loser Mike Maroth in the #2 spot and I don't think that'll stay either.
-
Can't wait to watch it. Hopefully the lights don't go out like they did a few years back.

Happy Birthdays!!!!!!

The Tigers are playing better than the Pistons right now, haha.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 17, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) Yeah Dallas really wants to have a game 7 against a team that is 34-7 at home on the year... GMAB, if this series goes 7, SA has the upperhand. I have to agree with you here. If there is a Game 7, the Mavericks definately have a shot at winning it, but I also think it'll favor the Spurs. I'm going to basically call this Game 6 a must win for both teams. Obviously it's a must win for the Spurs, but I'm saying it for the Mavericks aswell because they won't want to go back to San Antonio to face a surging Spurs team for Game 7.
