  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) I'd rather have Danks, Floyd, and Vazquez. Buehrle gets eaten alive by disciplined hitting teams. Winnah. /thread
  2. I am glad that in a tight race we can't move up north to play our home game under a retractable roof up north. But rest assured that the cubbies, who were not playing a home game will get home cooking. They could of moved the Astro game to the Atlanta area and made it more netural than having this situation play out.
  3. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) They are talking Cubs/Astros in Milwaukee for makeups f*** them. Make the Cubs play in another location. We are at least the home team, and they are already pretty much guarenteed a spot.
  4. If they get postponed again today. Its time to think drastically and think about using the Brewers stadium. The logistics from a game perspective wouldnt be that bad. Either a short flight, or a quick drive up 94. I would say its better to get the 2 in tomorrow and only have one game on the docket at the end of the year. Having to squeeze in a double header at the end of the season is going to be a disasterous situation.
  5. Its nice to see that my surname is concentrated in Ireland, the US, and Australia. Looks like my rebellious relatives who were shipped off to the states and to Australia replicate like rabbits.
  6. Maybe we can stop trotting out Sept callups in late game situations with 16 to play. There is no reason that Wasserman should in this game. Also Griffey should be playing LF, there is no reason to have superior defensive players sitting in LF while he struggles to catch fly balls in CF. I understand he is more comfortable in CF, but its time to make decisions for the best of the team.
  7. QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) You mean the changeup diving out of the zone after nothing but fastballs, with an ump continually calling low pitches strikes? Also hitters that see lots of pitches and take lots of walks usually strike out a fair amount, too. Not excusing Swisher for striking out, but the hyperbole and overreactions here are disgusting sometimes. And to the people harping about BJ Ryan "sucking": 3.06 ERA this year, 3.26 lifetime. ERA+ 140 this year, 137 lifetime. 28 saves this year. 27 BB/53 K this year, 246 BB / 607 K lifetime. WHIP 1.34 this year, 1.264 lifetime. What about those numbers over 10 seasons indicates "suck" to you? Because he looks easy to hit on TV? Okay, armchair QBs. Whatever you say. Swisher is hitting .225ish with a .340 OBP. Basically this year he is Brian Anderson with a higher OBP and worse defense in the OF.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) That would be perfect...a nice 1st rounder for the Sox. His latest elias ratings puts him well in the A range. We are getting a first rounder and a sandwich pick for him then.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) Did you know that Orlando Cabrera has one extra base hit in the last 2 weeks? Does he know he's in a contract year? He is aware of the contract status. Thats why instead of making contact and getting the single, he was trying to add 3 RBIs and a GWH all wrapped up in one. Daddy has to get paid man, f*** the team. Its like a replay of 03 and 04. Our guys swinging for the fences late in games with men on. Then striking out.
  10. Well the only bad thing from the last 2 innings was that a AAAA scrub came in with 16 games left in a tight game. Now its 6-4. We should either be tied or up now..
  11. If I am correct, and I could be off base here. If we get shutout tonight we will break last years total. Think about that for a second. Last years offense was filled with Grinderstad, Andy Gonzales, and other associated crap.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) Where are the Sox fans on this board? Be positive, root for your team. If you live and die with every pitch, why not cheer for a rally for f***s sake. Its really pathetic. I want them to win, I hope they can win. But with 6 to zip against a team we cant hit. Not looking good. Paws up.
  13. Nice to see September call ups making an impact here.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Wow, 3 ER for Gavin, he didnt deserve that. Outside of a game here and there our offense since the end of August has been pretty low scoring. Our pitching has to be perfect to rattle off wins right now.
  15. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) Neither can alot of teams. Thats why they are good pitchers. Take a look at Weavers number and Marcums numbers against our team. Its beyond they are good pitchers. Against our team its like Allstars pitching against children.
  16. Sean Marcum, Joe Saunders, and Jared Weaver are all re-encarnations of Johan for our team. We cant hit them.
  17. The Toronto offense adjusts, shortens their swings, and makes contact. They push the run across. They look like the playoff team fighting tooth and nail to get the win. We on the other hand, swing as hard as humanly possible, kick the ball around and dont score unless we jack the ball. This team better learn how to score withou the jack. This offense is a one trick pony. Sorry Gavin, you had to throw a shutout as our team has not figured out how to adjust to breaking pitches.
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:27 AM) Russell Brand certainly thinks so. Ah Yes, The bastard child of Yahoo Serious and Johnny Depp.
  19. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) The Twins have an off day right before our series. I wonder if they would alter the rotation to get Liriano in. The twins always alter their rotation so that their big guns hit the sox down the stretch. Expect Liriano to hit us as well.
  20. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 12:10 AM) I guess I'm in the minority because I recall 2 VERY good starts from Broadway...one from the end of last year and one this year. Everybody's basing there anxst on his relief performances. Big differences IMO. Just my 2¢. I have no problem with him starting at all...especially if it gives the staff a little break. Geez-us...THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!!!!!............ Broadway is not that good. His problem this year is lack of control and the inability to keep the ball in the park. In those 2 starts you are referencing, he was facing the Royals. Lets see how he does against a a decent team.
  21. You have to fight like cats, with paws up. Ozzie Guillen
  22. This ia an absolute brilliant strategy. Just imagine how smart we will look when the entire Tiger team injures themselves with the fight at the bat rack. Bombs Away Broadway pays dividents as they have to forfeit.
  23. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) What a naive post. Do you have any idea the ramifications making the playoffs has on a team? Merchandise sales, hanging a division banner, media coverage, ect. Ask Boyer how much easier his job would be in the off-season if the Sox made the playoffs and got their ass kicked. It may not matter to you, because you chose not to care, but to a franchise, it's incredibly important, and would be celebrated by the organization, just like it would for the other 29 teams. Amen, the entire idea is to get into the dance and see what happens. I would rather get beat in the first round and at least give it a try than anything. Anything can happen in the playoffs.
  24. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Owens' september last year may not be better than BA's best pro month offensively, but it was definitely the sort of thing that would be immediately helpful for us at this moment. Just barely even station-to-station at this point. Owens' best September or Anderson's best September would be different kinds of good, the former being the kind we more desperately need. If Paulie's out for awhile, the point is you'd want an extreme move to see if you could put a charge into things. Give our RBI guys someone to knock in. If Owens can get on 35% of the time and steal bases, for a few weeks here...you have to acknowledge that as helpful to our cause right now. Owens has this problem called getting on base.
  25. QUOTE (Baines3 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:43 PM) Looks like we're about to lose a double header trailing 8-2 in the 8th. I'm not reader to push the panic buttom yet. Well you have a better grip than the players. They pushed the panic button the minute Konerko went down. And then they gave up.
