  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) Who is a good manager then? Leyland? He's supposed to be the messiah. LaRussa? He's a god. Give me a break. In game, Ozzie goes with the talent he has. If the talent produces he looks good; if it doesn't he sucks. Mike Scioscia suffering from amnesia could out manage Ozzie.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) That's fine. I'll take a lineup of .310 BA hitters and you can have .360 OBP guys. I will take my lineup of 5 .310 guys sprinkled around a core of 4 power guys.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) It really sucks we couldn't get Miguel Cabrera this offseason. Odd that they didnt go for the assortment of crap offer we gave over the offer of the Tigers.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) It's difficult to find those fast, fundamental, good hitting ballplayers. They tend to crash and burn for some reason. Dole out double digit millions on a power bat, and they seem to be more proven entities. Screw fast. Just give me a guy who can hit gap to gap and sprinkle that in our lineup. We have way to many one dimensional types of guys in our lineup.
  5. Bombs Away Broadway gives up another long ball. I cant wait to see Mccullough up in a few years. You know the lesser talented BA Broadway.
  6. This team needs diversity in the lineup. We need to sprinkle some guys who can hit line drives around to agument the power hitters.
  7. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) to lose a game and a half in one day is inexcusable, especially at home I would say scoring 3 runs in 17 innings in the modern era, in one of the easiest parks to hit in would be my inexcusable moment.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) Second guessing is so easy to do. The Yankees second guessed Torre all the time; now they have a clown in Girardi. Oz has gotten the most out of his talent this year. Any manager we had you can second guess 10 moves in any loss. That's a fact. He's a great manager. A great in game manager. I suggest you familiarize yourself with other managers. There is a long list of better in game managers than Ozzie. I think he can motivate, but he and his magic 8 ball are epic fail at times during the course of a game. Maybe we can refresh your memory. Challenging MVP candidates with a base open in a close game late with men on 2nd and 3rd. Then treating punch and judy hitters who hit .230 like they are the previous MVP candidate after he cleared the bases. Bringing in a lefty to face a lefty. When said lefty cant throw strikes to a lefty, and the lefty up hits .300 against lefties. Bunting with guys who have proven over the last few years they can't bunt. Everytime you have 2 outs and a man on first, you steal. To the point that other managers pitch out and still you dont adjust. Playing guys out of position and not subing in one run games in the 8th and 9th inning.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) Dude, it's f***ing FREEZING out there. How do you expect them to hit in this weather? I blame Al Gore.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) I do. Ozzie is as good as any except maybe Torre. I would take the Angel's manager with 30% brain damage over Ozzie any day of the week.
  11. I would like to congratulate the Whitesox offense for creating a time machine. You see, its April again. Here is our run output for the last 11 games. 8/27 3 runs 8/29 0 runs 8/30 2 runs 8/31 4 runs 9/1 0 runs 9/2 3 runs 9/3 4 runs 9/5 10 runs 9/6 7 runs 9/7 2 runs 9/9 1 run
  12. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) Jerry Owens is still on the team right? You realize when Ozzie is presented with this type of situation, he will move towards the dink and dunk attack. Dont be surprised if Owens becomes our leadoff guy tomorrow.
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:48 PM) i almost dont even mind the fact that KW has emptied the farm, because as of right now we have given up jack that has turned into above average major league talent or that looks like it will... i mean our drafts havent even produced one regular with the exception of chris young over the past 6-7 years....thats awful The problem is that good talent provides 2 purposes. One is as currency. Good prospects are like gold. Look at Miggy Cabrera. If we had some decent prospects, he would be on our team. The other is to provide a pool to call up to provide protection. Our protection however, is one crappy player after another. We have no eye for talent and have selected safe, low ceiling players. We also do not instruct in the minor leagues. Our players come up, either ill prepared to function with basic baseball accumen, or with a long loopin swing. Right now we are on the verge of some bad years, unless we take advantage in the next few years and draft well. Overslot is going to be our friend. We need to use arbitration as well. We missed out on class A comp because we didnt offer arbitration to Riske. We need to offer it to Cabrera.
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) some how KW has been able to sidestep the fact that we havent been able to produce anything from within our own system and especially from our horrendous drafts....it is finally now starting to catch up with us Dont worry, he will empty the minors this offseason to "go for it again".
  15. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) Lets forfeit. We already did that in game one.
  16. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) 1B Swisher 2B Ramirez SS Cabrera 3B Uribe LF Griffey (If he gets hurt it will be Owens) CF Wise RF Dye DH Thome C AJ Pierzynski If that offensive lineup does anything in the playoffs they have to make a Disney movie about it. They can call it The Dookie.
  17. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) jesse litsch is quickly becoming one of my least favorite pitchers in baseball...not sure if you classify it as "intense" but the guy sure acts pretty cocky out on the mound, just with his body language and what not He spots low and away, and had a decent not good slider. He was built to shut down our type of team.
  18. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:32 PM) BA better be playing every game from here on in. BA is behind the bat boy for playing time. The best day in BA's career is the minute he gets traded.
  19. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) What happened? Run down play, Konerko was on the infield grass and his leg slipped out, he planted funny and buckled and went down.
  20. The easiest pitch to bunt is a breaking pitch. So what do we throw, breaking pitches. The hardest pitch to bunt is a high fastball. Back to back breaking pitches. Dumb.
  21. Thank god Ozzie pulled the plug on Felix there. Oh wait, its 2008.
  22. Odd, I thought that 2 runs would hold up in the America league, post 1950.
