  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) fathom made a post after Danks' last start about Danks being tired, worn out. I hadn't seen it - I saw a game where he left pitches up in the zone and was trying to hard to paint the corners. So tonight, I decided to watch Danks more carefully, mechanics and all. I think fathom is right. Danks looks worn down to me. His mechanics look it, the results look it. I do NOT however agree with fathom about this team and 2004 - very different teams. No 5th starter now. Offense starts to press, and doesnt get the homers anymore. Bad situational hitting Bad defense Twins start to push past. Kind of looks like 2004.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) You don't get runs, you look lethargic, you score and you look fine. 4-0 When you look up and its the 5th inning for a few games and you have 2 hits you are lethargic.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) f***ing christ.....danks keeps leaving pitches up I guess they aren't playing loosey goosey anymore.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) invest money in the farm/scouting/development system? thats crazy talk in this organization Our organization believes that hitters are finished products, and they should work on hitting the ball hard. The rest of the baseball part should of been covered in college and high school. They model all swings after Joe Borchard. And make sure we trade away all players that have any resemblance of a line drive swing.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:10 PM) Denard Span is the MVP of the Al Central since the ASB. Instead of getting a FA, we should take that money and start to lure the people who instruct Twins baseball and put them in our minor leagues.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) Let Swish sit on the bench and hold cardboard signs all game He better be a f***ing stud next year after this turd of a season.
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:06 PM) swisher seems to have abandoned his approach of seeing a lot of pitches. Anderson could do this, and actually catch the ball in CF.
  8. 2 hits going into the 5th. The offense thinks September spelled backwards is April.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) Are you saying you shouldn't pull the high and away fastball? This team will try to pull anything near the plate.
  10. All that Carmona has to do, is aim the sinker down the middle. I
  11. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 05:59 PM) crede pulls an edmonds Reaction play. When he doesnt have to think about his hurt back, he can make the play. The minute he gets a chance to think, ouchie happens. I am convinced he is hurt, hiding it for the payday.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) Terrible showing by our offense so far. Making solid contact is hard when you swing so hard.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) Twins with 1st and 3rd, no outs. I wonder if they are going to have 3 guys march up, swing from their heels trying to hit the ball over the fence.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) SSI's favorite speedster at the dish. When he hits the ball out of the infield I will cheer.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) Uribe is 3-10 with 2b and 2 homers in his career against Carmona. Well that would be if our manager actually looked at stats when he assembled a lineup. Crede b****ed and bullied his way back into the lineup.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) Look at our lineup tonight. Are you actually expecting a big offensive showing? Its the same lineup as everynight, sans Q. This is what we are going to battle with down the stretch.
  17. Our offense must think its cold out. They shut down again. The pre-game talk is all about patience and the pucker rangers are out there hacking away. Our defense also is the suck. We are doing everything possible to give this division away.
  18. Owens in LF, Quentin scratched. Well Ozzie gets what he wanted to put together on opening day. Thank god the baseball gods decided for none of that, and sacrificed Owens to the cause.
  19. I would say that two things are probably the culprit. One is the heat. The other are the advanced scouts found something that is being exploited right now.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 06:38 AM) People keep saying this, but I don't get the point of it. The main gripe people have with AJ being in the 2 spot is his low OBP. So why Alexei? AJ's OBP: .322 Alexei's OBP: .323 AJ's OPS: .757 Alexei's OPS: .810 So Alexei slugs higher and that's really it, if you're trying to improve OBP you do it, but by a whopping 1 point as of now. What's swapping them out going to accomplish? Maybe one day Alexei will start drawing more walks, but that's just not the kind of player he is. The OBP is a wash, but his speed and the ability to bunt make him more valuable in the 2nd position than AJ. I agree its not a perfect solution. But this lineup needs a change.
  21. I would like a few more line drive types to sprinkle around the power core. Diversity in our lineup would make this offense a lot better, and a lot harder to shutout. You need the power core, but you should have a supporting cast that knows how to make contact, drive the ball the other way and get on base. The problem with our offense, is we have guys outside of the 3-4-5 core who are all or nothing players. For this years team. I would rather have Anderson catching everything in CF and not hitting than a old RF playing CF, and Swish who hasn't clicked all year strolling out there. Griffey was a move for a moves sake. He provides nothing but a name. For me the solution with our personnel is as follows. Move Alexei to the 2nd hitter. Move AJ to 6th behind Paulie. Move Anderson into the starting CF job. He cant hit but neither can the other two. Griffey becomes backup DH and pinch hitter. Swish starts to rotate to give guys rest down the stretch. One day he plays 1st, the next day he plays RF, etc. Move Crede to the bench. I hate Uribe's play and all, but for the love of god he has outplayed Crede at that position. Put him back. Now to me thats a better team. You have defense up the middle. You have added speed up at the top, you have a lefty contact hitter to hit behind Konerko in an RBI position. And you have taken out Crede who cant hit.
  22. How many shutouts do we have as a team. We should be close to last years totals.
  23. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) Richard is not anything but a temporary fix. I'm sorry White Sox, you'll have to produce a #5 starter better than this guy. Well Broadway is terrible. You should just bring up Poreda and see if he can get the ball over the plate. His secondary stuff might not be there, but at least he has a plus pitch. Broadway and Richard have no plus pitches.
  24. Can we get someone up. Whats the point in having the call ups. BTW if Swisher is going to hit like s***. I would rather have Anderson and his D out in CF over General Soreness and Kid Comic.
