QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) his stuff may not be 100% but hes painting corners at 91...ill gladly take that He hasn't pitched in a couple of months and didnt have a rehab stint. The fact he is breaking 90 is definately worth it. In 2 weeks his arm will be back. Just needs more work.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) I could really do without replays of every single close pitch that's not called our way. Or members of Hawks Bosox team that have nothing to do with our team, its history, or Chicago.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) I really think this series went well, even if we lose, but I REALLY don't want it to end with Rodriguez celebrating on the mound. The best solution would be a walk off line drive, where the ball bounces off his noggin and he thinks he is a little girl named Catherine for the rest of the year.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) STFU Hawk. Please fire this hack in the off season. As he gets older, he is becoming Santo with legs.
-
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) How was everyone able to tag on that? Was their a close play at the plate? With his momentum taking him towards the wall even Konerko could of advanced on that play.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) Seriously, with the way Anderson sucks against LHP, it's criminal to leave a ROOGY in to face him. Boone would of either plunked him, walked him, or gave up a grand slam. Boone sucks. Great talent, no testies.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) Is anyone else listening to Hawk right now? He needs to just shut the f*** up sometimes. See the difference. Danks pitches well, and then Hawk reams him for missing a low and away changeup. Now a vet comes in, s***s the place up and its now the umpires and the zone is tight. Come on.

quick to 2 strikes, then nibbles.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) I so happy K-Rod didnt get a save in our house last night, he is the martin gramatica of closers I said this in a game thread after that asshat did everything but hold the pike on the dismount on a save against us. The next guy who hits a walk off against him, should moonwalk to first, then worm over to 2nd, walk backwards to 3rd, then bolt like you are in the 100 meter dash and do a somersault so you roll over home plate. Then do snow angels at home plate.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) That pitch to Hunter? Did you see the replay? That last pitch to hunter wasnt that bad. It was well enough away and wasn't that high. It wasn't a B pitch, but it was good enough. The only problem I have is listening to the mumbling tool Hawk. If a young guy makes a mistake, he harps on it for like 2 or more innings almost scolding him. If a vet makes the same mistake, its the silent treatment. I never see him break down a Mark Buerhle start showing replays of one pitch and scolding him for not nutting up.

Happy Birthday. So what did whatever her stage name was in Minny send you for your birthday.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 10:12 PM) Wow! We win 10-2; they win 10-2. My god the Twins go home and kick some butt after that lousy road trip of theirs. Go SOX!!! You realize that we have a 2 game lead in the loss column. So if we match the Twins play, we win. If they play one game better than us, we still win.

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Typical Cowley... feeding the rumor mill. Might have helped if he looked at a boxscore before he wrote it. Quentin was NOT a scratch before Monday's game. He played Monday and went 0-4. He hasn't played since then but he was in the lineup for the first Cleveland game. Cowley is probably the worst when it comes to believability. Remember Uribe was cut, this person was traded, that person is benched.

QUOTE (jheath160 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) Quite the opposite. I have a daugher who was born with Down Syndrome, and am involved with a few different support groups in our area. In one of the groups, it seems that I'm in the minority of folks (possibly the only one) who thinks that she's allowing the party to exploit him by making an issue of it. Come on, he's not a circus freak that we're paying to see! He's a child, albeit one with special needs; why make such a huge issue of it (IMHO)? But they're all gushing over it, saying how wonderful it could be. No thanks--I don't agree with using a child like that. Also, maybe if she'd been more supportive of sex ed in her home state, her 16-yr old might not be preggers at the moment. This is directly from page 20 of the 63-page vetting posted earlier in the thread: She has done nothing but shown support and love for the child. If she was the VP, don't you think thats a powerful advocate for children with special needs. If she dismissed the child, hid the child, and never mentioned the downs syndrome people would be outraged. And the snark about sex ed is a joke. I am sure that she got pregnant because she has never heard of contraception. Maybe she jumped up and down 3 times after intercourse because she can't read a book. You realize that even with proper contraception that people do in fact get pregnant. You realize the most popular barrier method does break from time to time.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) the actual human being who happens to be a bit partisan in his opinion? You stated the speech didn't excite his own base. I give you an example from the base, and you tell me he is partisan.
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 10:53 AM) That wasnt my opinion. I heard that on at least 2 other networks last night. Oh 2 networks is your source. Well I would rather go with the actual human being that I know as opposed to the MSM who might have an agenda.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) His two largest applause lines were Sarah Palin and POW. That's all anyone needs to know. He couldn't even excite his own fans. I actually know someone who was there, and talked to them this morning on a conference call. He one of our directors of Sales, and is a delegate from Minnesota. He liked the speech, as well as a lot of others. I thought the ending of the speech was great, the call to service. The only thing your constant ad hominem attacks on anything opposing Obama does is ad post count. At this point both parties are pretty aligned with their side. The limited undecided are not going to be moved by constant Snarky attacks and blatant conjecture. You are turning into the political version of Jabroni, a former poster.

I am testing google chrome at work. It works with our microsoft based intranet a lot better than Firefox. It is a simple browser with some elegance to it. So far for a beta pretty stable. It only died once. Soxtalk looks good in it.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) I don't like public speaking at all, don't get me wrong. And I'm not the best public speaker aside from the inflection of my voice. But to me the hard part is the start, and it's all mental. Once I establish a rhythm I don't care about the rest of the speech, at no point during me speaking can I ever see myself going "holy s*** I'm talking to 1.5 million people everybody can see me omg" ...but I could understand how that happens to people. I watched one of the smartest people in computer security give a speech and just was in shock at how horrible it was. I have met the man personally and have talked to him, brilliant person horrible horrible public speaker.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) As long as I know my subject matter the size of the group I'm speaking in front of doesn't matter. It's speaking in front of people, period. I've given speeches for as few as about 5 people and as many as 1000 or so. I don't really notice... I'm aware that there are people, but I'm not worried about how many b/c I'm thinking about my words, not the audience. So I guess theoretically I could get on TV and speak in front of a couple million people, and I won't feel it then... I'd feel it LATER when I was watching myself on a recording though. Some people can give speeches. I have seen subject matter experts who have written books get up in front of a crowd and just fail to deliver. They shut down. There are people who have no problem getting in front of people and there are others who cant. For me its an adrenaline rush. The only thing I had to learn early in doing it was to control was my tempo. I would jump out quickly. Once I learned to pace myself, I got a lot better.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:58 PM) Sign Joe Crede during the off season. He will be back in 2009 with a vengance is my prediction Thats what you said this ST. In fact after ST you were ready to sign him to a long term deal. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) wow. Harry Reed called Palin "shrill". Not good. not good. Not Harry Reed. Hopefully they haven't offended Nancy Pelosi as well.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) I've always thought I would be a great public speaker as long as someone else writes the speech for me. I'm a bad writer, but a good "down to earth" speaker. Yea, i could have given her speech. I think people are overestimating what it takes to stand up in front of a large group of strangers and make a speech. Memorizing a speech is one thing, being able to stand up and deliver the content fluidly is another. I have spent a lot of my career speaking at conferences, and in front of large amounts of people. There is a difference when you have a small room of a hundred, and another when you are on a stage with a wireless headset speaking to a large auditorium being video broadcast.
