QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) The ball tricked away from Buck, there was still time to go back and touch the plate. The job for the on deck hitter is to get behind the catcher (first base side) and point to where the hitter needs to slide to. If you look at the replay, PK was on the 3rd base side still. It all happened so quickly though, it's just fundamentals that you hope they learn from. I don't understand the ump in that situation. The minute the runner abandons the field, he is out. You give him time to make it back to the plate, but the minute he leaves the field of play the ump can call him out. -

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) While Buck simply proceeds to turn around and tag Alexei out. Give me a break. Alexei thought he was safe. He wouldnt of moved into the dugout, took off his helmet and high fived a guy if he though the play was still active. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) He really has to start mixing up his pitch selection on the first pitch. His fastball is not his best pitch anymore, and it's pretty average for a reliever. His fastball is moving down. They are hitting the ball on the ground. Its not like they hit laser beams off of him. The hardest hit was a bouncer that was pounded 3 feet in front of the plate. -

QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) or, more reasonably, let's just not sign him to a 50 million dollar extension. Who is signing him to a 50 million dollar extension. He is under control for a bit. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:51 PM) Yeah, games like this happen even to the best of them. I expect a thread about the lack of velocity, he continuing decline, or how we need to replace him. -

Probably one of the easier pitches to bunt, a breaking pitch. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) haha, I honestly feel bad for Swish on that one. And you wonder why his BABIP is so low. He has had some terrible luck this year, when he crushes a ball it gets caught. -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) Hawk is working on the HOF bust for Hochevar. How in the world does this guy have a 5 ERA. Hopefully the team realizes that other guys have hit Cy Young here. And Thome got the memo and crushed that pitch. -

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) White Sox brass haven't shown much interest in the whole compensatory draft pick deal. We'll see how they handle OC this offseason. I believe Riske was a class A free agent the one year, and we didnt offer him arb missing out on the picks.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:59 AM) I don't think Ozzie meant anything by it...and I'm sure it's water under the bridge now. Cowley(yes not the best source), had a theory today that Ozzie put Walker on notice publically to motivate the players. He has tried yelling, talking to the players, and nothing is working. But now putting a guys job on notice, a guy that they like, it may motivate them to have more focus and results.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:01 AM) I would guess this would mean this is Walker's last year as hitting coach. He's really pissed at Ozzie for hanging him out to dry. I am not a fan of greg, however you can't blame him for being upset. Dangling anyones job in the press will piss off anyone. In my view, if you have come to the conclusion to do something, then you do it. You don't use the press the threaten. Nothing is accomplished with that.

Walk met with JR, and is upset with the Guillen comments.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) I missed it, the only part of the game I missed, in fact. In the past few games, really good. Made 4 or 5 web gems in the TB series. Gaitright was burning to first, he fielded the ball fine, he couldnt find the ears on the ball. -
Alexei, starting to heat up. Quentin, already hot. nice job by Gavin pitching over some early defensive blunders. Nice game

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) You played baseball...he's aiming those throws. He threw that ball on Olivo a lot harder. Well there is no doubt he is aiming the throw he has lots of time on. Sometimes you can see him almost double clutch and he releases it. Lining himself up. The biggest culprit he has had this year is when he drops down. The bouncing the ball in is something that happens, your first baseman can recover on that. Sailing the ball is dangerous. It can either get away and roll down the line after it bounces off the side rail, or you can get your first baseman hurt as he can get pulled into the runner. -

Crede needs to concentrate on his throws. The more time he has, the more he messes up the throw. When he has to react, he is fine. -

Gavin should of gotten out of that inning without any runs scored. I like the way he is pitching, and he is pitching over his fielders mistakes. Thats the sign of a good pitcher. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:59 AM) I saw a interview with Henry Rollins who was able to get a visa to get into Iran. He said the people over there really like America, especially the younger kids. He got to eat dinner with your average working class Iranian family and he said they were more worried about paying bills and the daily grind than hating America or Israel. I am sure that the average German didn't hate America either in WWII.
