  1. Boers and Bernstein just put on a soundbite from the PFB show, when some dummy was asked if money wasn't an issue, would you rather have Rowand or Ichiro on this team. The dummy said, well Rowand of course. And PFB said, are you sure. Its Ichiro we are talking about. The dummy then said, well Rowand has tenacity and was part of the WS championship, what has Ichiro done. All I have to say is how sad I am that this man drinks so much to make such a silly comment.
  2. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 01:05 PM) I think the Cubs organization has successfully screwed this kid up already--I think the damage has been done and some serious development has been stunted. If I were a GM in Williams' position, I would no longer be interested in Murton and would look for a two-hole hitter elsewhere. Truth be told: Sweeney is the right man for the job in 2008. Surrounded by the proper CF and RF, Sweeney's production and defense will pay dividens for this ballclub--as early as next year. I would disagree with you on Murtons value. He is a line drive hitter with some pop. He would project to be a decent LF. You put Sweeney in RF, Ichiro in CF, and Murton in LF. It gives us a mix of some line drive hitters who can get on base, with some of our power guys. Its a nice mix, and balances our lineup more. The only way I would say that Murton doesnt make sense, is based on if we send Buerhle to the Mets and get Gomez and/or Milledge back. I like Murtons bat. You bring up a roving OF instructor to work with him, before and after this year on his fielding. Its LF for gods sake, and you dont have to be that talented defensively to play a half way LF.
  3. You try for Gomez. That is the key player. Gomez+Millege would be a steal. Gomez+Pelfrey same thing. Gomez is fast as all hell, steals bases, and Omar ranked him the fastest player in the Mets organization.
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) Why would your heart sink? After Heilman's struggles last night... I think it's becoming more than likely that we could get a freaking boatload for Mark. Think Lasting Milledge, Aaron Heilman, and Mike Pelfrey? We would feel the positives of a deal of this magnitude much more than Mr. Tarp Slider. Plus, if we DO love mark so much, we make this trade and then sign him... if we're going to sign Buehrle, its not going to be till the offseason anyway, why not get a boatload for him right now?? Regardless, Mark won't be wearing a White Sox jersey next year, so having him go down with the ship this year would make no sense. Heilman proves nothing for us. I dont want him, and I doubt if Kenny wants him either. He
  5. QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 08:54 AM) Anyone know if he's coming back tonight? He's played in 8+ minor league games, I was thinking it would be tonight, esp with the DH spot back. Thome would be playing DH. No Prancer. Prancer is hopefully playing his last overpriced season for this team. He cant steal anymore, so pretty much he is worthless to this team.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) There's less than a 0 percent chance that David Wright is traded, no need to even bring his name up. If we trade Mark it's going to be for prospects, I hope everyone realizes that. But if I type Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left Right, Up, Down, Y, X, A, B, Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Up, Down, Left, Right, X, X, X and B then hold the start button it unlocks the Logic doesn't apply cheat. I am working on the Arod for 3 months of Iguchi deal myself.
  7. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:15 PM) Vazquez has so much talent, but averages something like a homer allowed every 3 or 4 innings. We don't need a firesale as everyone is calling for - what we need are good relievers in the bullpen. Now that may mean some folks get traded, but we aren't any worse off as far as games behind as the Yankees were/are. I guess maybe I can see Dye, McDougal and another releiver getting traded, but it better be for relief help and maybe Adam Dunn. We will be getting Erstand and Pods back soon. There may be some spark added to this club. Don't abandon ship yet. LMAO I guess the Royals should pick up a few relievers and Adam Dunn as well, because our record is just about the same. Except they hit the ball a lot better than we do.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Not to mention some pretty good sources from this site said his stuff is back to being pretty damn good. Floyd intrigues me more than anyone else in our system right now to be honest. Floyds stuff is top shelf. If he can throw strikes and attack the zone he could be special. A mid 90s moving fastball and plus plus curve are not exactly things that grow on trees.
  9. I like when they quote the opposition's record as a reason for hope. For the next X amount of games we are playing teams below 500. And do you know what Chuck Garfiend. So does every team that plays the sox.
  10. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) That sucked, but it was not all MacDougal's fault. He let up a single. Ozzie is stuck on the matchup game, and it never works. I blame how we get stuck in being predicable. Here are absolutes in our game this year. If there is a man on 1st and 2 outs. Ozzie is sending the guy. No matter what. The minute we get to our relief core, we pitch away away away. What is the purpose of having all these power arms if you are afraid to allow them to pound the ball in. If you give them only one zone to look for, it makes it really easy for the opposition to hit. Past the 7th inning down by a run, our offense turns into HOME RUN derby. Its Marty Party time. Send a lefty up there. Either he will plunk him, or groove one.
  11. Welcome back MacDougal. It seems that you have perfected your craft of allowing inherited runners score. You remind me of a bearded white version of Thriller.
  12. My father is the guiding light in the man that I am today. He lead a tough life, sacrificed everything for his children. My father preached a hard work ethic, and integrity as the backbone of what a man should be. He also taught me what a good father is all about and how to be one. I only hope that I am half of the father mine was to me.
  13. Jack Wilson looks like an ogre. He also looks like the sidekicks for the bankrobbers in any bugs bunny cartoon.
  14. The parents should be upset about this, a little liquor and the kid gets sick, lightweight.
  15. The funny thing is that they see Sox scouts at the game and they immediately think we are going after Dunn. My thoughts is that Freel or Griffey make more sense for what Kenny is looking for over Dunn. Ozzie would orgasm if we picked up Free.
  16. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) I never knew this about Iguchi and my respect for him will drop if it is true. We picked up Gooch for a cheap price due to a previous flop on an infield based Japanese player for the Mets. I remember at soxfest when people were asking about Gooch, it was our team and the BoSox that were considered destinations for him. So just like Dye, he was had for a decent price and didnt break the bank. Gooch is in his walk year, he is not young. So his next contract should set him up a bit and give him some of the benefits such as weather that he wants.
  17. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 06:38 PM) Reading that just made me very very sad. I dont get attached to too many players. Everyone locks into a player, a favorite. Ventura was that player for me in the 90s. I still remember the chills I had when he hit that slam off of Gossage. I remember how loud that place was when we left the park. It really made me proud to be a sox fan. Being at Game 2 of the WS was louder, and much much more special.
  18. Watching Mark this year, saddens me. He is a home grown talent. What I remember being most impressed about him, was the stones he had from day one. He has been a talent and a quality guy for the whitesox. It will sadden me to see him go, hopefully KW realizes what a special talent he is, and gets max benefit from his trade. This guy can take a playoff quality team and just give them quality starts over and over and over. In the NL, he could win 20 games easily.
  19. QUOTE(Chi Town Sox @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/photo;_ylt=Alm...101&prov=ap And when I took Lidell down, I got his back and it was only a matter of time before that b**** tapped out.
  20. So when does the Pirate pitcher evolve into a 7 foot monster throwing 100 mph heat, with 9 arm angles, and hits only the black of the plate with his plus plus pitches. Who could possibly hit this phenom. If anyone has, it must of been by using some spirit charmer that could harness the will of god in a lucky mans bat.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) Haha -- yep, the Mets are going to give this up for a little more than three months of Mark Buehrle. We'll be lucky to get two of those. Maybe if Minaya was sure that he could sign Buerhle for long term. If he has been a long term target, and they have the coin. They might want to get him in house, get some of the exlusive time to negotiate with him, and get him long term.
  22. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) What is the love affair with Arizona infielders? First Cintron and now Richar I just do not see it! Yeah why would anyone deal with one of the best farm systems in baseball.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) So the real question is, how many of these stories are actually true and how many are made up Well mine is true. I was formerly engaged to a cockaholic. Yes, there I admit it, and admitting it was part of getting rid of the cockaholic. I am sure she started with one, then 2, then she needed more and more and more. I couldnt be strong enough to help her through her random penile addiction.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) Don't they have a lot of MI prospects as well - one of the reasons Richar was playing so many positions was because he was be blocked at a lot. So they deal from a surplus for something else they have a surplus of? It is nice to know KW is out there talking though. It seems like he likes to deal with AZ. Maybe there is something bigger in the works and this just happened to fall in KWs lap as they were talking about another player - possibly Dye? To me this proves more of a linkage to Iguchi. He is a FA, they havent had the production out of him that they would like. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) That was actually my biggest fear when I received a message on my phone telling me Cunningham was dealt. I was so scared Kenny traded him for some old veteran reliever or some old crappy outfielder. Than I came on to see it was for Richar and I was a lot more happy (since it was a youth for youth move and this youth filled a more immediate need...albeit OF is obviously a dire freaking need). The Sox and AZ have a very good relationship so you never know, this deal could have came about as part of discussions for another deal (say Kenny was working on a Dye deal but they couldn't agree just yet, however during the discussions the Sox got very itnerested in Richar and bit on this initially and told the Dbacks they could further discussing things cause I do think the Sox could have some interest in some of the Dbacks OF prospects). Now Kenny needs to see what it would take, to get Matt Murton off the cubs hands. They are a bit down on him also. He can hit, and would be a nice 2 hitter for our team this year and next.
  25. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) I guess it settled in that we don't have any middle infielders in the minors???? OFs are a hell of a lot easier to come by, than any infield prospects. We have NOTHING in the stable for 2nd or SS next year.
