Deals I would try to make
southsideirish71 replied to harfman77's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 11:18 AM) I hate this time of year. I blame the xbox/ps2/xbox360/ps3 or any gaming system that allows for goofy trades. This is going to be painful. The first post is so wrong it makes me physically ill just thinking about it. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) Would it really be that horrible to trade Contreras and insert Masset into the rotation? I think Masset will be a good starter. He is just one of those guys who doesn't do well as a short reliever. When he gets to pitch a longer outing, where he can approach it like a starter and use all of his pitches he does well. I would like to see Massett get some starts with Contreras on the DL. And I would like to see Floyd and how much he has progressed if we trade Buerhle. This is Floyds last year with options. Now no matter what people think, the kid has plus plus stuff. His problem is throwing strikes, and his noggin. This year to me was about rebuilding Floyd from the mental side, and getting him to throw strikes. I would like to see now what we have, and if it can project to be a decent starter.

If Ozzie in a losing season decides to put Mack at third, he needs to be canned at the end of this year. If we are going to lose, lets figure out what we have with Fields. You take a long deep look and you see if he can adjust, or if you made a mistake.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:55 AM) I've tried so damn hard this year to give Ozzie the benefit of the doubt and back him as often as possible but I have a feeling he's going to make it real damn hard to do so with the way he's apparently thinking about handling the 3B situation. KW needs to reign this s*** in.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:51 AM) Son of a f***ing b****, I can't take this s*** anymore. Andy Gonzalez is not anything, he's nothing, he'll be a below average utility player for the Sox next season but that's pretty much his career plateau. Mackowiak will not be with the team next season, once again there's no f***ing reason to play him. Please Ozzie, don't be a asshole on this one just play the kid everyday for the rest of the season, even if he puts up a .600 OPS the rest of the way he's giving you more than you got from the position for the first 2 months of the season. I find it ironic that we bring Mack here to be a backup 3rd baseman. Our manager makes him a CF, doesnt play him at 3rd for all this time and now look we have a 3rd baseman candidate.
-
This is getting dumber. This is like having Dusty Baker trying to win out in a losing season. Playing vets over the kids because he wanted to win his 70th game. The minute Prancer and Grinder show back up. Mack will be your starting 3rd baseman.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) Every manager does that. Especially with struggling rookies. I let Josh play. I think Ozzie will, too, but I'm just saying he won't be the first. Not just Dusty Baker but Ron Gardenhire. when managers starting 3rd basemen go down for the year, and when that player is going into his last year and you have a "ready" player, and you are the 3rd worst team in the AL, this is when you dont trot Cintron out there to get that extra pop in 3rd. The Royals let the kids play, We are 4 games better than the Royals right now.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) So did Fields tweak something or does Ozzie just have no clue what he's doing? Sounds like the BA situation. I bet soon enough Ozzie will start to cart Cintron out there as a starter.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) Dear Toby Hall, Stop playing. There's no reason to sacrifice yourself this year. Go get your surgery. This is a real good idea. There is no reason to have Hall out there. Get his Labrum repaired and reload for next year. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) it doesn't matter how long one has been part of a message board. that's just something people say because... hey, they've wasted thousands of hours on this board so it must mean something! the bottomline is i've lurked on this board for a while and i've grown tired of the continual b*tching and moaning with nothing to show for it. atleast throw out some ideas, but NOOOOOOOO many posters would rather criticize, for what? for nothing. Thank god you are here to rescue the less enlightened. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) Aaron Paleda (Coop's words, not mine) will be the next great lefty to dominate the American League. Once he learns how to throw strikes, learn a few breaking pitches, and of course doesnt lose a few MPH on his overpowering fastball. -

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) we must find the next young pitching phenom(s). Exactly because we have a bad record due to our pitching. If only they could hold the opposition to negative runs everynight we would have a chance. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) At this point, the perfect scenerio the next month is the Sox losing 4-3 every game, with Dye accounting for about 40% of the runs created. With things the way they are, its painfully obvious to us that this team has no shot in hell at anything past September. However my worst fear is they decided to get hot for 3 weeks, creep back into respectability, the media starts making this out as a comeback, and the Sox become buyers at the deadline. Trade Terrero for Broxton. This team isnt crawling back. This is the easiest part of our schedule and we are getting bent over by NL teams. The only fear I have is that KW ignores what you see on the field, and decides to go for a desperate move to compete this year. -

Luis Terrero has been someone that I have dogged. But he is producing at a decent clip in the CF position. If he can stay 265 to 275 ish with that kind of power, he could be the guy. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Oh yeah....it's not out of the question to think this team might be competing with the Rangers next year for the worst team in the AL. At least we'll get to see Vazquez and Contreras throwing 85 mph. Next year. LOL We are going for that this year. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) A little bit of a stretch, but Dye getting hot during this next month could change the franchise.... The minute he gets hot enough to get Colletti sniffing for some real talent exchange, then you pull the trigger. The dodgers are the right team. We just need to keep them interested before Cincy decides to snap up our prospects. -

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) Well I hate to say this but we must look to rebuild the arms on this team. KW needs to make moves to bolster the pitching staff. Is there anybody on this team to get excited about? Not really... There should be an absolute fire sale soon. Rebuild the arms? Uh outside of the flamable pen. The starters have been fine for the most mark. Our biggest strength is our pitching. Our hitting prospects, good god. There we can get some talent from someone else. -

Dye making some better contact. Hopefully he can go on a killer hot streak and we can sell him for a boatload.
