I look forward to the 3rd tier offers we try to toss to these FA's with opt outs, magical deferred dollars and pretend better value based on team options based on tunable playing time. In the end we will bargain hunt for FAs looking to rebuild their value, coming off injury, or a few years removed from success. Other teams are going to outbid us for these front line players. And Hahn is not going to wait until February to build his team for primary free agents. It will be quantity over quality this offseason. Look we spent the money will be the moniker. I would get Cole, Wheeler, JD for DH and a RF and call it an offseason. We have the money. There are no excuses. I am ready however for the excuses on near misses and almost wins this offseason. We will know how its going based on the number of whitesox leaks. When Kennys guy starts negotiating for us in the twitters. You know you are fucked.

I think Mitch Trubisky would make Bill Walsh look like he is over his head. Mitch is a bad backup QB. -
Sox trade rights to Welington Castillo to rangers

Every year they should be rolling the dice on some of these 16 year old players. If one hits its worth it. The fact that we opt out is overly dumb. -

500k is a rounding error on a FA offer. -

And for those who dont respect IFA remember some of these 16 year olds that get signed, turn into guys like Juan Soto. I for one would like a wildcard or two and hope they pan out. https://www.mlb.com/news/nationals-sign-dominican-outfielder-juan-soto/c-134216106 -

Money will be spent. It will be spread out across multiple mediocre players instead of using it on a few key ones. Players are like a lottery ticket to the whitesox. Spread the wealth around and hope one surprises you. -

I responded right below my initial response. I misread it. Still less than a mill. Sad. I look forward to our 35 year old free agent on his last legs or a broken pitcher who needs a one year deal to rebuild his value. -

I read the above wrong. They are not saving anything. If anything it saves them 750k, the 500k buyout and 250k of mythical dollars they would of spent on IFA. Still doesnt make me feel comfortable when they offer future bucks. -

So they did this to save 250k. Well I for one see the Sox spending large amounts of money on premier free agents. I cant wait to see what we get this offseason. -
He is a machine however he better get that crotch grabbing and sticking his tounge out at pitchers out of his system. That's a bit more than just kids having fun. Some pitcher in the regular season is going to drop him.

Pitch recognition is key. If you look at how quickly your brain has to process the release, attempt to recognize the pitch and to fire off the swing process its amazing that humans can hit 100 mph fastballs. You work on mechanics during your practices. You practice your mechanics with your tee work, your front side flips. You use hittrax to see the result of that. You use live batting practice to work your swing with athleticism. I think with hi speed video and technology we can tune mechanics more in practice so its just doing it in the game. Some parts of the game haven't changed. With all of the technology around I am sure that pitch tipping or other human tells are even easier to exploit. Good coaches can help identify this and help with how to exploit it. There is a quote about the Twins approach to Chris Sale who had a tell and how it helped them exploit this against one of the tougher pitchers to face. We as an organization should almost have a team dedicated to scouting us internally from an adversarial point of view.

If at any point this offseason they were to move Moncada for prospects I would be out. That to me is a Marlins level of sabotage. Prospects are such a volatile mix. We finally get a return on a prospect and we want to move him out to get more. Nope. Done.

Scott Merkin had a piece where he floated some names. Hitters JD Martinez/Castellano tthen it was Corey Dickerson, Kole Calhoun, Grandal and Smoak For pitchers, He doesnt expect us to sign Cole. He has Wheeler, Alex Wood, Cole Hammels and Ordorizzi for starters and Will Smith, Will Harris and Colin McHugh or Daniel Hudson.

How does Gomes miss catching a fastball.

So last year when they had two 26 year old FA's on the table and wanted them and had almost no competition. Did they win either of them? No. Because history says we have a hard time paying absolute top dollar for top free agents. I would love to be wrong. I would love to see Cole, JD Martinez, and a few others impacting our team next year. There is zero reason we shouldn't spend the money. I think they will spend money but it will be quantity just like they did last year. They spent money last offseason. Just on a lot of players over a single player. This year they have a lot of competition for resources. I believe they will give lip service on the top end pitchers but do not want to wait for the bulk of free agency to go by as their agents try to isolate each FA against multiple teams. Our payroll will go up. But based on history we wont see us winning any front line players over the rest of the MLB. I would love to be wrong on this. Last year's friends and family plan attempts for Machado tell me the Front Office is going to have problems when lots of teams are competing for the same resources.

I figure they will save their pennies while they try to sign the existing core to long term deals. They spent a lot of money last year on garbage. I figure they will do the same this year. I don't see this organization landing the big fish. Lots of middle of the road fishes.
-
It will be more than that. Figure the bullpen will get some additions. But that will be the "well known" names will be out of the 4 signed including Abreu.
-
I wont be. I think all of those who have these delusions that JR is going to open up the pocket books to win are going to be disappointed. It will be a bunch of role players surrounding our existing core.
-
They wont wait out the offseason hoping for one of the bigger prizes. They will offer some top end FA money loaded with incentives, then will quickly move on. My guess our offseason will be quantity over quality. Brett Gardner 2 year deal Jose Abreu 4 year deal and a middle of the pack pitcher or two.

The A's actually took the time to develop his defense. That is more of an indictment of our development process for the White Sox. If he stayed in our organization he would probably be an OF right now. I haven't seen anything that says that we value teaching the fundamentals of defense across the board. I am hoping Vizquel at the AA level will help to change that.

Math bad. Me go back to my rock and wait for moahr bunts.

Omar should be up right now as a bench coach working with TA and the rest of our infielders. You have one of the best fielders that played the game in the system. Why is he not up right now working with our young players. Ricky will remain the manager until he wants to leave or JR is no longer the owner.
