  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Also said the White Sox are interested in Jeff Weaver who might be moved and same with Derek Lowe. I want no Jeff Weaver. He would suck at the Cell. Jeff Weaver is a boras client just like Derek Lowe. There is about the same chance as Ronny Woo taking over for SouthPaw as our mascot as this happening.
  2. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) Flexibility doesn't imply making an unnecessary trade. Unnecessary to win the divison maybe, to put us over the top maybe not. AJ Burnett and Lowell isnt a smart trade. Let some other fool over pay for that. AJ doesnt put us over the top or provide something necessary. I am not sold on Schmidt. What are our worries. Crede's health? Maybe pick up Randa as a backup for Crede. Or a utility guy who can provide a good stick and play good defense at 3rd if Crede has to go down. Insurance is key. If we didnt learn anything from last year. Bullpen, you need a stocked pen for the playoffs. Your starters are going on shorter rests and have a pitch count that they cant go over or they effect the next start. The bullpen is key. Adding a Wagner puts you over the top here. I am not for trades for trades sake, but if something can put us over or provide a need go for it.
  3. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) I wonder if JR & KW will start learning for this year's and last year's trading deadlines. Instead of trading loads of talent for good SPs midseason, maybe they'll sign one prior to the season next season... Then they BS'd everyone when they said the payroll this year was to give them the "flexibility" to go for it in June/July like they said at Soxfest.
  4. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Who?
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) haha i dont think so...he did kinda chuckle and say you can stop looking at the rumor mills on websites because a big move isnt gonna happen Thats a focking confirmation. The minute he starts the giggling or the "who is that player, have I ever heard of this player" Then a deal is in the works.
  6. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Maybe he should hit Carlos Guillen instead Then f**gsworth charges out of the bullpen looking for someone to spear. He eyes that damn Mark Buerhle how he shuts down his hitters, he goes in for the spear and then he hits a brick wall. The brick wall is moving. Looks up, and he is getting tossed by the Big Hurt into section 151.
  7. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) KW is on the Score and said no trades forthcoming on a major scale After that did he giggle or snicker and ask silly questions like who is this Billy Wagner character.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) If we get Wagner I will hump my computer when I read the story NOOOOOOO!!!!!!
  9. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Eric Casilias said last week if the WSox were in the AL East they would be a 4th place team If his aunt had balls he would be his uncle.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) I think Shingo pitched his last pitch in Cleveland as a member of the White Sox organization. It's a shame he didn't get the proper exit out of town, but, nothing's perfect. Best of luck in the future and I hope he nets something of value in return. I want to give KW big props for making a difficult move. Shingo is a nice guy, but we are trying to do something real special this year. Last year we hung on to Mike Jackson because of him getting some record. He was a nice guy also. On the plus side, who thinks that this will scare a certain Vizcaino into pitching a bit better. Your job is not safe. Pitch well or be left behind.
  11. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Vizcaino should be in Charlotte You will need to find another player to root for. HE GONG
  12. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Gammons will drown in his tears going over the highlights. After a heroic effort by the Red Sox, they fall to the White Sox 4-1. Mark Buerhle has been linked with Jon Garland, and half the whitesox team to a move to the Yanks. Steinbrenner has declared that he should have the best team. Boston Gammons
  13. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) I am listening to this s*** too, and I'm pretty f***ing enraged at his obviously ignorant dismissal of our team. The guy sent an email to the show saying that he wanted to throw his radio out the window and the host suggested that he jump out of the window also because the mediocre lineup of the whitesox wont get it done. I bet this guy predicted us to be in 4th place in the AL Central. After watching Al "I am old as s***" Leiter own the bosox what does he think that Buerhle who is a younger better version of Al do to the same team. He just said "I AM A REDSOX FAN" And he predicts the Yanks and the Angels are the best teams come playoff time. WHAT A FOCKING SHOCKER
  14. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Said that the Whitesox have no shot in the playoffs because of our weak lineup compare to the other AL Teams But this Loser didnt mention our pitching staff Lets see how those wonderful lineups do against Buerhle, Garcia and Garland.
  15. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) How long before Shingo gets called back up? I say 5 days. Byung Yung Kim isnt coming back.
  16. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Designated for Assignment means sent to Charlotte. He still has options left. STUPID MOVE. JENKS AINT NO UPGRADE OVER SHINGO! Shingo in the bandbox of Charlotte. YIKES. Dongs will be flying out in AAA.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) He has options remaining. He won't have to pass through waivers. If he has options then great. I was afraid he was out of options and had to be put on waivers.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) Actually, I believe the player has to be on the active roster at least 1 hr before gametime to be able to play so I think it is 6:05... Probably. I just hope they dont put Gload on waivers. I have a funny feeling someone will grab him.
  19. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) probably another hour. If it doesn't go through what do the sox do? Send Jenks down. 7.05 CST is when a roster move has to happen to let El Duque back on the roster.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Hawkins-4.55 ERA .254 BAA 1.38 WHIP In SF 6.75 ERA .262 BAA Shingo 5.97 ERA 1.60 WHIP .270 BAA Their stats are pretty close, with Shingo performing better in June with a .133 BAA. It would just be a swap, with us losing a player and losing a piece of what has made us a first place team. I think its just making a move to make a move. Shingo is a piece of what has made us a first place team????? Shouldnt that be in green.
  21. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Plus Iguchi is already starting to struggle. I spent about 3 months in Hungary and it helped to have my Cousin there with me because i had no idea how to speaky Hungarian. Plenty of japanese people in chicago plus I think they can find someone to translate. It didnt hurt Shingo last year when he was the only japanese player on the team.
  22. First thing is that Shingo and Gooch didnt know each other before this season. They played in different leagues in Japan. Gooch chose the sox because not because of the japanese player on this team, it was because they gave him the best offer. Not a lot of teams took a flier on him. If someone gave him the money he originally wanted, Gooch would of been on that team.
  23. This is why this guy got canned as a GM. Rick WHite? Good lord. I think I would give Billy Koch a try before I would let Rick White near the AL. Kyle (Wolcott, CT): Who do you think is the best bargain out there right now in terms of who is available for a trade before the deadline? SportsNation Steve Phillips: (12:46 PM ET ) If I'm a team looking for bullpen help, I would look at Rick White. He knows he's going to a contending team and I like his toughness and versatility. He would be a good pickup and probably nost cost much to get.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Especially when you consider one of the anchors of our pen is himself a horrificially failed closer in Cliff Politte. Plus AJ reuniting with Hawkins could be a good thing. If anyone remembers what Hawkins did as a good relief pitcher its AJ.
