QUOTE(Cali @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Thrice - Vheissu Wow. Been listening to this thing non-stop since I "obtained" a copy of the not yet relased album. (Don't worry just like W, God told me to "obtain" this album, so it's cool) It's pretty different from they're last effort "The Artist in the Ambulance", very moody and atmospheric, but the heavy parts are in there, and they lyrics are very much Thrice-like. Fav Tracks So far: "The Earth Will Shake" "For Miles" "Music Box" "Hold Fast Hope" Huge disappointment for me. Two of your fav tracks I really enjoy (The Earth, Music), but other than that this album has no staying power.

Willie knows how to take a walk as well.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Neither are Dunn's. He hit over 50 points higher at home, and 26 of his 40 homers came at Great American Ballpark. Looking at percentages, they were quite similar in this regard. - Dunn hit 65% of his HR's at home, Tex his 70% of his HR's at home. - Dunn has a 19.3% dropoff in batting average going from home to road, Tex has a 19.2% dropoff in batting average going from home to road. Maybe Cincy signals the pitch with lights from centerfield too?

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) There's quite a difference in BA and RBI however, and you can't blame all of the RBI descrepancy on the lineup. Frankly if my choice is to insert Dunn in our lineup with McCarthy and Hernandez as my 4/5 starters or acquire a different option for the #3 hole with Garland and B-Mac as my 4/5 starters, I'm going to go with the latter. I wouldn't mess with the rotation unless I had to. Tex did have over 30 more at-bats with runners in scoring position than Dunn did. But like I said before, Tex is the better hitter.

Teixeira HR/AB = .06677 2B/AB = .06366 K/BB = 1.72 Dunn HR/AB = .07366 2B/AB = .06446 K/BB = 1.47 I'm not going to argue that Dunn is more valuable than Teixeira, he's not. But he's not as far off as you may think. I'd rather have either one over Garland, even if he has another year as good as '05.

He confused Bret and Aaron in the article.

Thank God.

Did we not ban Mariotti articles from Soxtalk?

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) Thome scares the hell of me injury wise... but if they paid two thirds of his contract you have to do it right? Absolutely, no questions asked. You're never paying more than $5 mil/year for him that way. Considering we give that kind of dough to Carl Everett, this is a no brainer. Don't know what we'd have to give up though...

The funny thing is, on THT's clutch rating, Konerko is the least clutch on the team and Podsednik is third least clutch on the team.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Igawa, he is a year older, lefty with a decieving motion much like cotts. He will either be posted this season or will be a free agent in 2007. Yeah well you hear about the best three as being Matsuzaka, Igawa, and Uehara. All want to come stateside. I know it would cost a s*** load to bring Matsuzaka here, but they are ruining his arm in Japan. Have you seen the video of his gyroball?
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) I don't even consider him the best pitcher in japan and he is one of the cockiest f***ers in sports. He is suppose to be a real dick head. Who do you think is the best?
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) No way. Our pitching is finally solved for about 4 more years at least and people want to start trading that away? Let's try to keep the pitching and defense intact or upgrade it, but in no way am I giving it up for a guy who's overrated among many parts. And I'm a Reds fan. Is he really overrated? He's only 25 years old and coming off back-to-back 40 HR, 100 RBI, 100 BB seasons. Besides praise from myself and a few other posters on this site who really like him, you don't hear about him all that much. Plus I'd be okay with just sliding McCarthy into Garland's slot, and leaving El Duque as the 5th starter. My one exception would be that Duque should NOT make his start if there is a day of rest and foregoing the 5th starter means all the other pitchers have regular five days of rest. But signing Matsuzaka would be even better.

Is anyone else as devastated as I am that Timo has only 1 plate appearance in the postseason?

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Thanks, Heads. I didn't hear the comments that spurred the creation of this thread though. What was said to bring up memories of Jason Dellaero? Postgame yesterday, a reporter asked Crede about his great defense, and Crede said he attributed it to the mentoring of Jason Dellaero.

QUOTE(Linnwood @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) Stopped reading right there. :headshake At least he's up front about it...

I can understand that.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) A guy at Beyond the Box Score gave his thoughts on what he'd do this off-season... I'm in half agreement. If we can get Dunn straight-up for Garland, I make that deal without a second thought. -Let PK walk. -Trade Garland for Dunn. -Outbid everyone for Giles. -Sign Daisuke Matsuzaka (let me dream). Lineup: Podsednik Iguchi Giles Dunn Dye Rowand AJ Crede Uribe Rotation: Buehrle Contreras Garcia Matsuzaka McCarthy

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) I'm confused, with Game 1 being in the bag...and Game 2 tonight...why on earth is ANYBODY involved with the Sox in ANY way shape or form even thinking about trades and moves??? Isn't that something that shouldn't even exist in any of our minds right now? I'm constantly thinking about it all the time. I can't help it. I really like going through different scenarios in my head and trying to play GM. It helps pass the time until the next game starts.

Ooh nice... Thanks Greasy

QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Very nice indeed. Are you doing this for every month, or did you happen to only have april clips available? Good stuff either way. There are top play clips available from every month of the season. I just chose to start at April. I didn't intend to do any other months, but maybe I could work on something new in a few days. Thanks for the feedback.

QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) Requiem for a dream is one f***ed up and disturbing movie. i loved it. Seeing it once is fine because Aronofsky is quite talented and it's cool to watch his work...but it is so depressing and chaotic that I can't watch it any more than that.
