  1. QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) Screw Giles; he did not give us a World Series. If anyone gave us a World Series, it was Kenny Williams. He was the one with the foresight to put together the collection of different players that made us what we were. He will decide what pieces we need in '06 to defend our title, whether that includes Konerko or not.
  2. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) Such mastery over words could make Shakespeare himself envious.
  3. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) because he doesn't try. Have you ever seen him take BP? Put him in the Cell and he hits 30 Home Runs. You might have a point if it weren't for the fact that in BP Ichiro knows what pitch is coming, where it will be located, and its velocity.
  4. I don't see the point of making predictions before free agent/trading season.

    Jarhead?

    I have a man-crush on Jake Gyllenhaal.
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Is this salary tracker somewhere on this site, or elsewhere that we can view it? I've seen the end-of-year list, but a version that has been updated would be great. Future editions too. http://www.keepmyfile.com/download/7fef0f155270
  7. Time to update my salary tracker. We're at $55.425M (including buyouts) currently.
  8. I brought this up in the music thread, but I'll restate it here. No one remembers that a few years ago the five major recording companies violated antitrust laws and illegally colluded, resulting in a half billion dollar loss shared by conusmers who paid artificially high prices.
  9. I don't even think Crede was in top 15 for runs created by 3B men. Not your best fantasy choice at the hot corner.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Im actually a big fan of Sweeney's.... although with his injury history its a risk. Especially at $12.5M/year.

    What's your major?
  12. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) Predictions are fine, most of this thread is such. Making a hypothesis about what someone in the organization is thinking or doing and then saying that it is "clearly" what is going to happen is silly. Reading Comprehension is a skill. I think I have a grasp on it. Let's re-examine. You are hypothesizing that KW is thinking about trading Rowand and will eventually follow through with it, even though no such rumor even close to this has surfaced. In addition, you didn't leave any doubt in your statement that Rowand would not be starting in '06. BB said "[he] thinks...", which is a personal decision, right or wrong. Yet BB's statement is ludacris, while yours is perfectly fine.
  13. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) "clearly"??? Not sure how you figure that. clearly adv: without doubt or question Speculation and hypothesis = clearly? interesting. Not one for predictions? Oops.

  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) I don't think there is a site I hate more then BP. Nice of you to post that stuff for others though. Not even this?
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) I feel the same way. I've long debated the fact. I think quite a few people look way too much at OPS and not enough at AVG. They get infatuated with it to a point. OPS is great, but at some point or another a guy has to be able to get base hits. Dunn doesn't do that. He could move to a team like the Sox, have some protection and all of a sudden hit .270, if thats the case, the guy is a premiere offensive player in my book or close to it. I'm sorry but I think this is ridiculous. He hits .270 and suddenly he's a premier offensive player? His career average is .248 and he hit .247 this year. Do you know what the difference is between .248 and .270 over the course of a full season (550 AB)? 12 hits. If 12 more hits a year is what's keeping a guy who had consecutive 40 HR, 100 RBI, 100 BB seasons before the age of 26 off your team, then I don't think your priorities are in order.
  17. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) And what are our options those other 3 to 4 hundred at bat's at dh? Well I'm not saying make him full time DH. Get a 3 hitter, get a 4 hitter (PK), resign Frank.
  18. Why not sign Frank just for the chance he'll give us 200 AB's next season?
  19. Pats. Because of the 0-fer thing and it's in Foxboro.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) As young as the Injuns currently are, they've got a good chance to be a player. But here's the big question; will they hold onto Millwood and Wickman? The answer is probably not, and those are going to be some serious holes they'll need to fill. You don't think so? I thought for sure both would be back. Just my opinion though.

    Quote of the Day

    QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) I think you mean QUOTATION of the day. . . green /green
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) I'll never understand why people are so down on Dunn. I don't give a s*** if he strikes out 170 times as long as he hits 40/100 walks 100 times with a .920+ OPS You are the winnar.
