QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) damn aj is only .192 with RISP Explains why he has fewer RBI's than Podsednik and Uribe (almost BA too).

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) can anyone tell me about what he throws and everything and just a scouting report in general.... also whats his GB/FB ratio for the season? A few weeks ago Cheat did some research and the G/F ratio was around 2. We're not totally sure on his pitch repertoire, but with the extreme G/F ratio it probably includes a splitty. Think he has a curve and change as well. I can tell you his current batting average against is .163, which is nutty for a starting pitcher. He's given up more walks than you'd like but the control isn't bad. Birmingham awaits.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) Wow from looking defeated after that first goal and now a man advantage in a tie game for 60 minutes. Not anymore. Harsh red card evens it up. -

Damn, would've been nice for us if one of those two chances went in for the Czech's. -
Or that junkie Josh Hamilton is trying to make a comeback.

To Podsednik's credit he is third among AL leadoff hitters in both BB/PA as well as P/PA which are two key stats for a leadoff man that go hand in hand. He's not really striking out too much, and his G/F ratio is amongst the highest in the league, which is preferred for a speedy guy like him. So the main problem offensively now is that not too many balls are finding holes for him as his BA on balls in play is one of the lowest in the league. I guess he's been a bit unlucky in that aspect thus far.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) You do realize his first season in AAA... Fields is 6th in the league in walks. Yes right now he is K's way too much but to say he isnt prolific at drawing walks.... Especially when the guys ahead of him are mostly guys with major league experiance. Like Carlos Pena and Heep Sop Choi.... also BJ Upton who offensively has been ready for the majors for awhile now. also let me add Josh Fields is leading AAA in OPS, 2nd in avg, 2nd in OBP to Lastings Milledge, like i said 6th in walks, tied for 7th in HR's, 2nd in doubles, tied for 4th in hits..... all in his first year at AAA. But you 2 are obviously right Fields is nothing special because he K's a lot. I realize this is his first season at AAA. He's 23 years of age while all the other players you mentioned earlier had the talent to progress to that level by age 21 or earlier. And your stats are misleading. He's 6th in the International Leauge in gross number of walks. Let's even the playing field and rank players in both leauges by their BB/AB ratios. Fields isn't in the top 25. Your other stats show his power numbers have been impressive thus far but don't forget that Knights stadium is a bandbox and the power alleys are 365 there. I'm not trying to take everything away from him and I'm pleased with his progression at each level in pro ball thus far but let's not set our sights too high with the Jim Thome and Adam Dunn comparisons.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) A lot of guys strike out a ton in the big league level... I think you guys are overlooking his K's. More important than Fields K's are his high avg. and OBP to go with his good power and rbi total. Hell Adam Dunn breaks records by King so much and would you not want him on the team if it was only hitting... or Hank Blalock K's a ton and our very own Jim Thome K's a bunch. Dont put 2 much emphasis on the K's. All of the players you mentioned showed good eyes and plate discipline at the minor league level and were prolific at drawing walks, something Fields is not. The chances of him being as productive as any of the players you mentioned are slim to none.

Ozzie seemed to give Tracey the kind of verbal lashing usually reserved for only the most boneheaded or out of line actions that happen between the lines. It was Tracey's third major league appeareance, he tried to hit Blalock twice (possibly on the third one too), he has major issues with control, no need for Ozzie to put on such a display in front of the team and cameramen.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) Fields will hit better than Crede in the majors IMO there's no denying that. Why? Fields' contact rate has been worse than Crede's at every level of pro ball thus far.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Nice...you liking Austin? I have a few buddies that go to school right by there and they say its an awesome place. How far is it from Dallas? I've only been here about a week but I'm enjoying it so far. The city doesn't feel too urban because just minutes from downtown/nightlife area there are lakes and parks with lots of things to do and see. I drove through Dallas on my way down here and it took me about three hours.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) Did you end up moving to Texas instead of San Diego? Yep. I got a much better job offer in March.

Might be there on Thursday.
