Ride the train, show up to the tailgate lots about an hour after they've been open and mooch. People are a lot more generous with their food and beer if they've had a few beers themselves.

Los Angeles @ Chicago - ALCS Game 1
LosMediasBlancas replied to Heads22's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Why won't this question go away? I heard it's definately on for Tuesday at 7:00. I heard it on every tv station and read it in every paper and on every web site. -
Hey guys, this is an update for anyone who might still be looking for tix to game 1 of the ALCS tomorrow. Since yesterday, brokers have come down in price on tickets. An UD seat that was $225.00 yesterday, is $179.00 today. That's a pretty significant drop. Not sure if you guys want to wait until close to the end of today to see if they go even lower. Just thought I'd pass it along in case anyone was broderline on going through a broker.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) I was just reading that thread for the hell of it, there are quite a few bandwagon fans in that thread. Funny how many were 'out' then and are whooping it up now, isn't it?

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) I feel bad for BMAC but I am going to trust Ozzie with this. PS How about my pumpkin that I carved today. Nice job on the pumpkin! What carving tool did you use?

Someone pull up those "Are you in or out?" threads that were going around 2 and 3 weeks ago. Ya think they might be an interesting read right about now?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) I just cant understand why Oz would put a guy on the roster that not only is going to be on a short leash, but has also said he wont pitch him at home because of the boos. WHY IS HE WITH THE TEAM? I have no answer for that other than Ozzie figures he has one more clutch performance left in him. I didn't see that comment from Marte by the way, got a link? Here's an idea for him to not hear the boos: Don't s*** your skirt during a playoff game for a team that hasn't won s*** since 1917.
-
It's obvioius to me now that Ozzie will keep trotting Marte out there over and over. At some point during the ALCS, Marte might be successful, maybe even spectacular, he might even close out the clinching game. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. BUT that doesn't make this decision by Ozzie a good one. A guy should be judged by how often he plays well, not by one potentially timely, great performance. That performance is what Ozzie keeps waiiting for, he thinks it will vindicate his decision to keep Marte. I'll take a wait and see attitude, but Marte better be on an extremely short leash. If he puts 2 guys on, with his usual walk followed by a double, Ozzie should yank his ass.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Actually, I decided to pass on it after all. I've seen 'em twice already, and truth be told, I'm getting a bit tired of the concert scene. Call it old age, call it what you will, but I've had a good time at the shows I've been to lately but not near what it used to be for me. So I'm gonna use that Dinosaur ticket money to get some AL Central Champs gear instead. Needless to say, I expect a FULL, DETAILED review from you after the show. OLD AGE?! C'mon TC, I'm pretty much the dinosaur of the board and I go to just as many shows as ever. Actually, I know what you mean, it might just be burnout. I took a break for a couple of years and had fallen totally out of touch with music. I've rediscovered it in the past few years. By the way, the tickets for Dino were $30.00 a pop, so yeah that should get you some nice Sox gear, enjoy.

Phil Rogers is really reaching with that kind of logic.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) That would be me. Excellent news EXCEPT.... Can't any band I like come to town on the WEEKEND anymore???? s***, am I sick of going to Wednesday and Thursday night shows. Still, I don't think I can pass on Dinosaur Jr, and I don't have the Lollapalooza Excuse or the 4-Hour Round Trip excuse this time. GET TO THE SHOW AND QUIT CRYING.

Wow, Marte is not gone and Jon is not pitching til game 4? Wow.
-
I watched game 3 on a giant, HDTV at a bar and I noticed this: El Duque had so much adreneline going, that if you looked closely, you could see his bottom lip was quivering throughout the entire 6th inning. That man was A-M-P-E-D.
-
Did anyone catch Suttcliffe when Duque was warming up? He said: "yeah, El Duque is probably just getting some work on the side, because he is NOT a reliever.
-
I'd like to see, Contreras, Jon, Mark then Freddy. Especially if we play the Yankees, you gotta get Contreras 2 starts. I'd even screw around and try to give Duque a start. The Cubans got dissed by NY, you better believe they have a hard on to beat King George. If we play Anaheim, it's pot luck.

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) And that's different from our current LF? I'd only want Manny if he's a DH on our team. That's quite interesting that he said he wanted to play for the White Sox. It likely won't happen though. Thx Fathom, I can always count on you for a positive spin. Don't get too down yet, the Sox could still lose the next series.
-
I'll pass. Everyone talks about his posing after HRs, that doesn't bother me so much. But something I noticed in this series is how f***in lazy he is on defense. He flat out gives up on anything that's not hit right at him. He jogs to the ball and wiats for it to roll around and back to him.......and no arm. No thx.
-
I'll put up with the ESPN Yankee slurpfest if it means the Yankees advance to the ALCS. I want NO part of Anaheim. ESPN and Berman should be embarassed by his performance last night.
-
You can argue back and forth about how you determine who the 'best' team is, but I know this: we OUTPLAYED the Red Sox in this series. Since it's a competition, that is what ultimately matters the most. On paper, are we a 'better' team than the Yankees? Probably not, but I have NO fear of playing that team.
-
A friend of mine gave me a really nice Sox cap for my B Day 2 years ago. I had only worn it like twice because I didn't wanna get it all sweaty and dirty. For some odd reason, I wore it to game 1, which of course ended in a 14-2 rout. I wore it again to the bar for game 2, result? win. I wore it again last night.
-
Ugh, long ball Freddy shows up.

bottom of 4th??
