  1. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) which album did you hear Actually saw a video for a song off I assume, their new record. Didn't make me want to listen to the rest, but maybe if I get my hands on it, I will.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) That's about as dumb as the people who think the Sox are better off not making the playoffs instead of winning the Wild Card. What's the logic behind that one?
  3. I won't go until the playoffs. I'm not sure I can watch on TV either, the stress is too much, almost to the point of it not being enjoyable.
  4. So, let's see here, Jag Moronatti in ONE season has gone from: 'the Sox will finish 3rd in the division', to 'ok, they're playing well, but they'll run out of gas', to 'ok they're still playing well but can't keep up the pace', to 'ok they'll make the playoffs but will go 3 and out', to 'they're gonna choke'. Nice job f***ball.
  5. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Hell yeah, I love Local H! I think Scott Lucas is quite under-rated as a guitarist. I also like the side project he's in called Cisco Pike. He doesn't sing for Pike and they have a bass player, so Scott can concentrate on ripping out some excellent solos. Enjoy the Crowes, I'll be at the Double D enjoying the Halloween show ( and enduring the Seger portion of it, that's gonna be torture. Old Time Rock and Roll, Turn The Page, Night Moves...... :headshake :sleep :puke ). Lucas and the H are very underrated. Unfortunately they get labeled a grunge left over band. I've followed those guys from the beginning and yeah, they're no the gratest, but they are one of my favs.
  6. QUOTE(Clarkdog @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) Food for thought.... This series is going to be a lot of fun. I would have preferred the Sox having an easier time in locking up a post-season spot - but they have yet to play a meaningful game this season because they got off to such a hot start. This will test their mettle and we'll find out if they are in fact a playoff/championship calibur team. Going into this series with a tight win and a series victory is a good thing. To me the Sox only need to remember a few things and forget everything the media is spewing: - The Sox lead the division (and the Wild Card technically), the pressure is not on them to keep pace - just to play like the division leader. To hear the media tell it, you would think it is Sox that are chasing the Indians. - The Sox have won 90 games and have the best record in the AL, you don't accomplish this by being a lousy team. The media paints the Sox as if they are a 72 win team pretending to be a 90 game winner. They have won 90 - there is no pretending. - The Sox own the Indians. 10 -3 this season. Even though they are playing better of late, 13 games will certainly tell you enough about what your opponents strengths and weaknesses are. - Matchup Point #1: The Sox need to pitch the Indians as they have in the past (Garcia 2-0 1.71; Buehrle 2-0 2.11; Garland 2-0 2.84). Against Sox pitching, the Indians have only two regulars hitting over .260 - Crisp and Sizemore. - Matchup Point #2: The Indians pitching against the Sox is not even close. Milwood has the only repectable number with a 1.29 ERA but an 0-2 record. No other starter has an ERA under 4.50. The Sox have three players that hit over .300 against the Indians - Podsednik, Konerko, Rowand, and Everett hits close to .280. - Matchup Point #3: Bullpen - Indians Bullpen: ONLY Betancourt and Tadano have ERAs UNDER 3 vs. the Sox. Sox Bullpen: ONLY Vizcaino has an ERA OVER 3 vs. the Indians. The Indians will hit lousy pitching - but they are vulnerable against good pitching. The pitching is what will decide this series. The only thing the Sox should be thinking is this: Play your game - play the game that got you here and you will be fine. EXACTLY, it's mostly mental now and all about belief. There is no reason to s*** your pants against the Tribe, no matter how badly the media and all the bitter haters want to see it. I'd like to see Ozzie loosen up again. What happened to the jokester in the dugout? When was the last time you saw him smile during a game? If he panics, the team will panic, get uptight and press.
  7. Rita, might swing west and hit Tx. and La. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/09/19/trop...ther/index.html
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:01 AM) f*** Bob Howry. If Chicago fans are so great, what are Indians fans who are 24th in attendance drawing 4000 less fans a night, with no second option to go see. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/attendance Indians fans are the biggest bandwagon fans there are. There attendance fell 50% in two years after they quit winning. Try looking in the mirror before you speak, idiot. EXACTLY, I guess the allure of the new park wore off quickly. Watch them pack the house for the last series against the Sox though.
  9. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) BRMC just play good rock and roll , dark night club rock and its a lot of fun. They put out an acoustic cd i really liked this year. their self titled is the best...really good pop hooks. The fiery furnace's debut had them compared to the white stripes, but their next album blueberry boat was just this out of left field, epic album with 10 minute songs...i love it. They are from grant park i believe...brother and a sister, but they added others recently Eh, finally heard BRMC, didn't hate it, but it didn't blow me over either. I'll look out for FF though.
  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 01:20 AM) I'm getting antsy for the Bob Mould show. I just want the 29th to get here already!!! I also picked up tickets for the Double Door Halloween show, which is ALWAYS a ton of fun. This year Local H is performing as Hall & Oates - that's gonna be hilarious, and yet I get the feeling that the Local H treatment is gonna make some of those songs listenable. Also appearing: Ness as the Smiths The Last Vegas as the Cult Woolworthy as Jane's Addiction The 8th Grade as Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band ( I could do without this one, actually ) Blackbox as Smashing Pumpkins Good times. I'm thinking about being Ozzie for Halloween. "Ay tell you, brother, thees keed ees a goo' bartainder......" HOLY s*** you like the almighty H?? I love Halloween at DD. Can't make it this year though, I'll be at the Riv rockin' out to the Black Crowes.
  11. I was gonna post the same thing he's saying, but I figured I'd get ripped. Who would you rather face in the 1st round Anaheim or Boston? I've said this all year: I do NOT fear the East and I'll stand by that. ...but I still we'll win the division. Let's handle business and make that last series in Cleveland irrelevant.
  12. BAD idea for flights, just call around like crazy. For car rental they've been excellent for me though. For hotels, check travel book, like Frommer's. They rank hotels by price and are usually accurate in their advice.
  13. So let me get this straight, the Indians have been red hot for what, maybe a month? maybe 6 weeks? The Sox were hot for 4 months, have a 10-3 record against the Tribe and swept them coming into the 2nd half, have a 3 game lead in the division and it's the SOX who should be nervous??? Don't let the press or this Indian's team get in your head. Handle Business.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Half this game is 90% mental. That's it. One of my favs by Yogi.
  15. As Yogi Berra said, 90% of the game is half mental.......or something like that. The Sox need their swagger back. This Cleveland team is 3-10 aganst us. I don't care how much has changed in the last month, we OWN this team. We need to remember that and quit reading the press clippings. It's a 2 week season now.
  16. Morales has a histoy of taking 'bum' fighters too lightly. He was totally unprepared and it showed. He had ZERO defense and never figured out a plan for offense. Honestly, the guy who beat him, didn't impress me. I want to see Barrera get back on top, it pissed me off to see Paquiao beat him a while back.
  17. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/4878068 Ya got caught Sucka.
  18. Subject: Morality question This test has only one question, but it's a very important one. Please don't answer it without giving it serious thought. By giving an honest answer you will discover where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation, in which you will have to make a decision. Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous. Thoughtfulness is important for this evaluation to be meaningful! Ready? Begin. You're in Florida... In Miami to be exact. There is chaos around you, caused by a hurricane and severe floods. This is a flood of major proportions. You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper caught in the middle of this great disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some are disappearing under the water. Nature is showing all its destructive fury. You see a man in the water! He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken away with the raging water and debris. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar. Suddenly, you know who it is.......... it's George W Bush! At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under, forever. You have two options: You can save him or you can take the most dramatic photos of your life. You can save the life of George W. Bush, or you can shoot a Pulitzer Prize winning-photo documenting the death of one of the world's most powerful men. Now, here's the question, (please give an honest answer). Would you select colour film, or rather go with the classic simplicity of black and white?
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) Considering Cleveland has a $41 million payroll and the Sox is $75 million, shouldn't Eric Wedge be the favorite for Manager of the Year anyway. And if Cleveland does pass the Sox, how could KW be the executive of the year? ...speaking of K Bubs, when was the last time he made an apprerance or had a quote in the papers? Been kinda quiet lately. Did he pass the wheel and blame over to Ozzie after the trade deadline passed?
  20. I'm not surprised. I heard that Jack guy from the White Stripes was with her and then, like the following week, she had married this other clown.
  21. I'm not pissed....yet, but I do have that nervous tingle in my stomach, like before you had to get up and give a speech in class.
  22. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) eh, its funny, the times we've got in music arguments, they've turned out to be huge misunderstandings....the green day thread and the bob dylan thread come to mind...haha... losmediablancos - (i am still trying to gauge what you like and dislike) are you a fan of the fiery furnaces? Good luck, my taste is all over the place. I like to think of myself as an indie/undeground kinda guy, but when I hear something that really moves me, I don't give a s*** if it's on a TV commercial and has sold 50 million copies. Not familiar with 'The FF", tell me about them and about 'black rebel motorcycle club' though, people will not shut up about them.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) The question is this...is Buehrle "accepting" that they might lose, or is he trying to come up with some motivation by realizing they're not playing well, in the hopes that the realization that they're screwing up will help them not lose? I think it's the latter. I don't think he's resigned to losing to them at all, I think he's trying to give the other players the swift kick in the arse that they need. I doubt that. If at this point, this team needs to still 'realize' that they're playing poorly, they're done.
  24. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) The boys aren't in my area, just the girls that are in boy scouts. What I've read about is that the boys that want to be in it, are boy scouts but want to have a chance to meet and make friends with girls, which is why they want to join the girl scouts. Well, maybe they need a better reason and that's why they meet resistance.
