  1. QUOTE(Stocking @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) good thing to be proud of. And your waitress, her job is to get your food/drinks, if she does that she's done her job, not above and beyond......you stiff her too? :finger Not proud, just a fact. Big difference, a waitress a lot of times makes minimum wage, if not below. How much do you think an hour long cab ride costs? $50.00-60.00? Subtract gas money and the fee to rent the cab, they still do ok.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) Right now, Viz has clearly figured out whatever it was that was keeping him from getting outs earlier in the year. Is Viz the best guy in our bullpen? Absolutely not. If we go into extra innings and need a guy to go 2 1/3 innings, is Viz our best shot? Very likely so right now, assuming Bobby has already been used. Marte is dealing with both some serious confidence problems and some serious mechanics problems. Will he work them out before the playoffs? I don't know...but I hope to God he will. When Marte is on...his stuff is as filty as any left handed relief pitcher in baseball save Wagner. I see no reason why Ozzie shouldn't keep running Marte out there at some point...just to try to see if he can find the pitcher he was 2 years ago. Either way, Marte should be spending a hell of a lot of time with Cooper right now. If he can get back to throwing strikes to lefties...that's a hell of a weapon to have down in the pen. I guess I can see what Oz might have been doing. I agree that Ozzie should keep trotting Marte out there til the end of the month. If he's gonna find it, it's gonna be in game situations, not thinking about it in the the pen. Let's find out NOW if the guy is gonna be useful in the playoffs.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) I dont tip cab drivers, is that bad?? I havent in awhile because they purposely try and milk my money with bad routes etc. I even got into a fistfight with one. (he tried to take offwhile I was getting out of the car). I hate them as well. I tip cabbbies up to the next dollar. If the ride was $12.90, tough s***, they get a dime. What am I tipping more for exactly? His job is to drive me to where I ask, if he does that, he's done his job, not above and beyond.
  4. Try a bicycle, great way to get around and awesome exersize.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) Sure it can...it was a big bottle What I meant was we basically got him for nothing and he turned into one of the most dominant LH relievers in baseball...stop giving me a hard time, u know I get all worked up lol. Geez, if this is a hard time, you will never take the hill for us in the post season. You, Viz and Marte can hold each other in the pen.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Obviously, the answer to this question seems to be a big NO. Marte has had a rough season filled with bad luck and bad pitches. His confidence is down as well as his velocity. I'm not sure however if this is temporary or if the lightning in a bottle that Marte has been for us the past four years is all but run out. Regardless of how he does the rest of the season his trade value will remain high as his track record over the past few years speaks volumes. If he fails to get his act together, a trade will likely be in order. 4 years can't be lightning in a bottle, can it?
  7. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) I actually went down to get laundry when he pulled Jenks. Why did he do that? Was Jenks struggling, or was Ozzie trying to "matchup" his pitcher to the hitter? BTW, WTF with Marte hitting two guys in a row?! The second after Ozzie was apparently chewing him out on the mound?! I don't think I've ever seen a manager do that (on the mound, that is). I've seen Oz do it before, he did it to Loaiza last year and it worked, at least in that particular situation. He got in Marte's grill last night and Damaso responded by?...Folding. Is this guy ready for playoff pressure?
  8. That's the Ozzie 'big balls' Montana character that makes me nervous come playoff time. "Joo teenk joo beeg tine? Eye gonah poot een meye wurs clohsser. Lemee see joo heet dot cheet."
  9. I don't pull whoever is on the hill at the time, especially if it's BOBBY FRICKIN' JENKS.
  10. It's funny people say that Chicagoans just can't enjoy a winner. It's really the media that can't seem to enjoy it or handle it. They must always create a dark cloud.
  11. QUOTE(Cali @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 06:16 AM) Well they're god awful to begin with, so that would make sense. Aren't they kinda in that 'Puddle-Of-Mud, 15-years-later, still-trying-to-do-Cobain/Gavin' style?
  12. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) little bit of cred? who cares, different people like different things. you'd lose cred with me if you didn't like the arcade fire as part of the backlash that comes from bands being somewhat popular Theres some bands i still have trouble getting into for as much as their hyped to me...antony and the johnsons and i can't stand My Morning Jacket, and i also pretty much dislike elbow minus a few songs. I know what you mean, cred is important for people who don't know music. I enjoy MMJ...thx to my wife.
  13. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) i miss lo-fidelity on 89.1 on friday nights at 8... that show was the s***...i remember one day it opened up with the arcade fire - powers out, kings of convenience, beck - sea change, and animal collective...i nut myself. LOL. Here goes the little bit of cred I had, Arcade Fire doesn't do it for me. Sounds like cult music. *LMB ducks to avoid large flying objects thrown at his head.*
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Who knows what formula they use. If you stop and think about it, right now there are literally thousands of things that people are making studies of, and reporting that if this isn't fixed, some fatal flaw could lead to people dying, and all that it would take it a bunch more funding to fix it. The problem is deciding which projects are truely the most important with whatever cost/risk analysis they are doing right now. I'll tell you one thing, if I am somewhere like LA on the west coast, I am screaming my head off right now for more funding to prevent the samekind of disasterous response after an earthquake. It will be interesting to see if we see a shift into more funding of preventative maintence towards natural disasters, or if we see the same see-no-evil philosophy that has been prevelent in our government for decades. No s***. Not to mention, who is real confident in this admin. right now in the event of a huge terrorist attack? You don't think they've taken a good look at the past 10 days and realized that roads, bridges and levees are vulnerable. I understand that N.O. was a unique situation, but there have to be similar ones.
  15. Nice, but 1,000 songs is really not that much space. Now, I'm sure what's coming next is the tiny size with the 20,000 song capacity. THAT would be sweet.
  16. Thx man, part of that clashes with 'Subterranean", but I'll give it a listen.
  17. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Agreed. I've heard a couple songs from the New Pornographers on Q101 Indie Night and they did nothing for me at all. I'm currently digging a band called The Generators. They have kind of a Social Distortion vibe to them, except for a couple ska-influenced songs that I don't like half as much as the harder-edged songs. Favorite song by them is called "Thirty Seconds". when is Indie Night on and what time?...and is it really good, obscure Indie, or the soon to be on MTV 'indie'?
  18. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) The Moody Blues. Thx man. Note to self: stay away from this record.
  19. Can someone please describe what 'The New Pornographers' sound like? I don't want to make the mistake I made with Sigur Ros. By the way, where do you guys go to for trustworthy reviews?...besides word of mouth?
  20. Forced evacuations?? what an impossible and horrible idea! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9156612/
  21. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) Oh, yeah, lopping off the top of the UD is going to mean we in the rabble (non-corporate, non-season ticket holders) are going to be competing for 8K fewer seats this time around I can understand the season ticket holders, they SHOULD have dibs. So many corporate tix is non sense.
  22. here ya go: http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-sside07.html
  23. Let's see here, he got a new deal, he's back, he's healthy, he's playing well, yeah I bet Maggs cries his little eyes out into his $5,000 pillow every night at not being able to play for the Sox, a team and city he surely has such a personal devotion and loyalty to.
  24. In 2000, I remember being near the front of the line at the cell and only managed to get lower bowl, corner, back row seats. This was like 5 mins. after they went on sale. With the seats being taken out of the UD, my guess is there will be even less tix available this time around. There will probably only be a handful of lower deck seats and most of the UD seats available to the public. Season ticket owners and 10,000 'friends of mlb' have already bought up the rest.
  25. I don't blame him for wondering what the team's plans are for him. I wonder the same thing.
