I've been thinking about getting an i Pod, cuz my wife loves hers. She has the one that holds like 24,000 songs. We buy CD's, burn them onto her laptop and from the laptop onto her i Pod. Basically most of our CD collection is on that one piece of equipment. My only complaint is that it has pre set sound settings, so you can't play with the EQ and adjust bass and highs. Maybe we just haven't figured out how.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/09/03/katrina.w....aid/index.html Complete run down of all aid offered at link. Next question, why not take any and all aid offered? Why would be turn down Qatars 100M?? Because the problem is not a lack of money or supplies, it's been not realizing the extent of the effects, slow response time and no sense of urgency from the beginning. Mark my words, by Wednesday of next week, when all of this help finally starts arriving in huge quantites, they'll be telling people to stop sending supplies because it's causing gridlock.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) I just saw The Aristocrats and I had high hopes for it. Let me just say that I can't believe a movie with so many good comedians telling such dirty jokes can be so awful. I had never left a movie early in my entire life...until this one. Thank God I found a guinea pig for this film. I read reviews for it and my understanding was that it was a bunch of different comedians, each telling the SAME dirty joke. The joke has the same punch line each time of course. Supposedly what makes the film awesome, is each comic's build up and all the details before the punch line. That just didn't sound possible and thanks for confirming it.

I can remember funny commercials, but never who is doing the advertising. My favorite is the one where a bunch of guys are standing around a grill at a cookout and one of their boys walks in with his GF and they're wearing matching identical shirts. Then a giant beer can falls out of the sky and crushes him. "a man should act like a man and a beer should taste like a beer". The other one is a bunch of guys sitting around watching sports or maybe playing poker and one of them turns around in his chair to use his cell phone and says: "hi honey, it's me, everything is fine, I'm just calling to check in". Beer can falls on him: " a man should act like a man and a beer should taste like beer". Both of those kill me, they might be for Milwaukee's Best.

So, since Friday evening, CNN has been showing previews for a Larry King special about how you can help the victims of Katrina. The special was to air Saturday night, almost 24 hours later. Call me crazy, but if CNN was serious about letting the public know how to help, they wouldn't wait 24 f***ING hours to reveal that information. The previews were on during every CNN commercial break on Friday. So, I tuned in for the replay of this 'special' and so far I've seen Celine Dion just absolutely lose it and cry and scream hysterically. What does Larry ask her? Hey Celine do you have a song for us? What does Celine do? She sings a song. Thx Celine, everything is so much better now. Next on is a jazz musician (forgot his name) who procedes to help the situation by doing what? Playing the horn. One of the most sickening BULLs*** hours of TV ever.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) I watched The Cooler tonight starring Alec Baldwin, William H. Macy and Maria Bello. It was really great, and the performances from Baldwin as a badass and Macy as a hardluck loser in love were amazing. Anyone who's a fan of Casino or Owning Mahowny must see this right now! It's also got a very original script and interesting takes on characters we've seen before. 'The Cooler' came and went pretty quietly. I enjoyed it remendously. Then again, I think Baldwin is a pretty bad ass actor.

To say race was a factor in poor response time cannot be proven and therefore an ignorant thing to say. To say federal response was adequate or timley is also clearly wrong. Here's a local angle from Daley: http://www.suntimes.com/output/hurricane/c...ws-daley03.html

QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) I was just listening to Eric B. and Rakim's Paid in full in its entirety last night, i played it at a party i was having...and it was soooo good... Classic and timeless. People grip Tupac's nuts, he didn't have s*** on Rakim. Whatever happened to hip-hop?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) I wish everybody would drop f***ing politics concerning this and focus on helping people.... But some people in the media, etc. can't handle that... I agree, there will plenty of time for finger pointing later. Meanwhile, reporters have gotten in and out, politicians have gotten in and out, Hollywood starst have gotten in and out and now even the military is getting in and out, but N.O. residents are still stranded there, dying.
-
Wow, of the 4 radio and tv personalitites, he's awesome. The rest aren't even tolerable. This is too bad.
-
29 babies were taken from N.O.. hospitals and moved to Baton Rouge hospitals. They're all doing fine. The is the ONLY piece of good news I've heard about this tragedy.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) Hey Mayor why didn't you deploy the buses before the storm during the evacuation? But they did all they could by 'ordering' the total evacuation of a city, remember?

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) OH...them... Man, I think I have fallen out of touch with music to a degree. Back to my Bing Crosby and Andrew Sisters CD. I checked out the Death Cab though... KG, after about 1965, everything is just a rip off anyway, you ain't missin' much.
-
QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) i guess for death cab fans it could be an alright cd... and i'm listening to the dears no cities lost...don't lose the faith is a great song...it does seem to be a bit cliche, at points it almost feels like cover songs? The man has a great voice though...(especially when i was just listening to Clap your hands say yeah) Stay with it and give it a few spins, the rest of it might grow on you.

I swear this is becoming one of those bad Hollywood movies about a meteor hitting Earth or the earth freezing over. Get this: Huge oil spill from reserve tanks spotted on the Miss. river downstream from New Orleans.

That money will help in the months to come, but lack of money has not been the problem these past 5 days.

QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) even peter tosh? nope.

Just got off the phone with my friend in Houston. She is 2 blocks from Reliant and says things are very organized and under control there. On one side of the stadium are all the emergency vehicles and ambulances and on the other side of the stadium are all the volunteers and donated food and water and supplies. Sounds like once they get to Tex., they're ok.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) No, they showed him talking to victims and he did seem like he cared. I thought he adressed the media. So, yeah photo op basically.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) What about that glorified photo op did you find impressive. Wait, lemme guess, he played hard ass again and is focusing on shooting down the looters instead of telling us the plan for getting people out, right?

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) Agreed. Once the guitars faded, so did they, IMO. Plus, I am not a ska or reggae fan at all, so the touches of that didn't help either. Ska always just sounds really goofy to me. I always expect to see juggling clowns running around. I LOVE Marley, but have never heard any other reggae I've really liked.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) It's far from my favorite Clash song - I'd say my faves off the top of my head are Clampdown, Capital Radio One, Stay Free, Safe European Home and Complete Control - but I like Train In Vain better than anything off of Sandinista! or Combat Rock. Clampdown, Guns of Brixton, Rudy Can't fail, London Calling.
