The picture I can't get out of my head is seeing that major road/bridge (I-10, maybe) that gets you in and out of N.O. is broken apart and a lot of it is totally submerged.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) In regards to the looting, I can kind of understand people taking food/water/supplies for their babies/kids (formula, diapers, etc.), but what are they going to do with water-logged electronics, clothes etc? ...at least clothes can be washed an dried. Latptop? maybe not.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) PG-13, I think. Can't be too good. No s***? Oh, f*** that then. Thx for the heads up.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Where are the people putting all the things they are looting. Is this like a squirrel in winter theory??? LOL, and all that stuff is soaked. I saw a guy running with a tv that was dripping water. I'm thinking, yeah go ahead high speed, once they restore power, go ahead and plug that bad boy in.

I'm curous to see that new 'Exorcism or posession Emily so and so' film.

Picked up the 20 year anniv. 'Blues Brothers' DVD yesterday. The extras aren't that cool, but it's still my favorite Chicago movie ever.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) I guess it is impossible to make 2 deals the same day No, but it is quite probable that we will make zero.

I'd be SHOCKED, no FLOORED if the Cubs helped us in any way. This is more Levine B.S.

Anyone hear the Brett Favre angle to this story?? His family lives (well, lived) in a town in Miss. that was crushed and he hadn't been able to reach his Mom or any family members. I guess she got a hold of a TV crew covering the story and used their communication hook up to call Brett. They played the phone conversation on ESPN radio this morning.
-
so, where do the Cubs factor into this?

I saw the Gov. of La. on TV this morning. She has to be shell shocked and overwhelmed, cuz man talk about not having any answers. She said nothing positive or hopeful.
-
By the way, I think that GD record is good, but way overrated. I know that I get 3 minute songs with 3 chords from GD and I had no problem with it at all.
-
I caught the last 30 minutes or so and saw Kelly Clarkson. She was sloppy, running and jumping around too much and was out of breath and it really screwed up her singing. Did anyone happen to catch her on SNL a while back?? She sounded AMAZING then. I think she has a good voice, but makes really crappy music, does that make sense? Too bad about her VMA performance, cuz she can really belt it out.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) I am so happy to hear that another country is offering to help us. We're always supposed to help out whoever, but when it comes to us needing help, not many if any are willing to. (Besides Britian) Don't be fooled, this guy is a rat. What's his hidden agenda?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Nothing is falling on Frank's shoulders here. It would be a great addition and would most likely help the team but by no means are the Sox relying on a healthy Frank Thomas. I meant it sounds like some peoiple here are putting their hopes on a Frank comeback. Says a lot about the overall confidence in our team.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) We will see, but it will never be the same. Outside of Chicago, it's my favorite city I've ever visited, including London, Dublin, Sidney, NYC, etc. We honeymooned in New Orleans. from the looks of the aerial video this evening, it looks like that stretch of Esplanade Ave. where we stayed (and where I always return), just up from the River and the French Market, has seen inundation all day and will not fare too well. I've never found any city experience as uplifting as just catching an early set or two at Preservation Hall, having a nice dinner at Dookey Chase's or ACME Oyster House, Commander's Palace, or a half dozen other places, another set of music at Patouts or Cooter Browns, and then on to whatever the night offers. Obviously, loss of life and the way the lives of the residents have been completely upheaved is the first and foremost concern above all else. But, selfishly, I can also feel myself going into a really dark funk in seeing a place I love so much be potentially wiped off the map. I hear ya. I had the pleasure of seeing Winton Marsalis play in a club the size of my living room. It's one of my favorite music related memories ever. Think about all the historic hotels and restaurants down there. Those places were part of family's lives for many, many generations. Even if they rebuild, it will not be the same. Part of the charm is how old some of those buildings are.

When our hopes fall on Frank coming back this year, we've got serious problems.

QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) It occurs to me that the Marlins recently did it. If you show me that it happens 50% of the time, I'll buy into it. Otherwise, it's the EXCEPTION.

May all the victims RIP. Nawlins is over. Hope everyone had a chance to get to Mardi Gras at least once, cuz that is over with.

QUOTE(bmags @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) they are coming to mizzou with the constantines ergo...it should be the greatest show ever...constantines live are ridiculous plus the hold steady and i'm sooo excited...i nut myself when i saw that flyer... They don't have quite the same effect on me, but ummm, I like em too.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) I wasn't scared by the Ring at all. The last movie to scare me was the Exorcist, and even that's dumb now. Either nobody's good at making horror movies anymore, or what they say about video games is right. Probably a little bit of both. The horror genre ran out of new ideas long ago. I don't know if video games have had an effect on you, I never really played them. I've heard they make you less shocked by violence, not sure if that's really the same thing though.

Usually when people tell me that a record is a 'must have' I stay the hell away from it, cuz it's bound to suck.......err I mean, it's usually not to my liking. 'Separation Sunday' by 'The Hold Steady' is one of the few the exceptions. I resisted this record forever and finally picked it up. Solid disc beginning to end, will probably go see them next month.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) Yeah, I knew them balls were busting, but I had to have my say. You mention my name, I have to up my post count. And as for the Crowes fans I have been talkign to, I guess I am only finding the stupid ones. It is a killer avatar, isn't it??? I found it on one of my Classic Horror film boards I frequent all the time. Glad ya like it! Eh, I don't know if I'd call them stupid, how about ignorant? A lot of rock fans especially the younger ones just haven't been around long enough to know where it all comes from and see it's evolution. Hey, if Chris belts out 'Stay with me', I'll record it for ya.

David Wells. That guy came here and looked at it as a one year vacation.
