ozzie has big balls..Tooo big or just right?
LosMediasBlancas replied to iguchi=dank's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ozzie has that David vs Goliath mentality mixed in with Tony Montana. The worst (or best) thing that coulda happened to him was that Marlins WS. He now is sold on that whole, 'we don't need any superstar, big money, players' attitude. Sorry, but to me, chemistry and grinder ball will more often than not lose, to big money superstar players. It's a nice underdog plan, in theory. He also has that Tony Montana chip on his shoulder. The one that sometimes makes him do the unconventional and dare the opposistion to prove him wrong. -
It was kinda like the Freddy-Santanna game, but in reverse. Don't get me wrong, neither Felix or Duque picthed as well Freddy or Santanna. I'd say Hernandez was better than Duque, but he made that 1 mistake and that was the ballgame. Tough loss for that kid I'm sure, but he'll be back. I'm not ready to jump on his jock just yet. As some of you said, let's give him a few spins before we hand him the crown.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) I don't think so. I think we've only seen him once this year, and he shut the door pretty easily. Unless this is the third series against the Mariners. I didn't get to watch any games for about a month because I was at school, so they might've played them during that span and rocked him. I know we didn't rock him the last time we saw him. After that long-winded response, I think the answer to your question is no. You're right. For some reason, I thought we'd jacked him before. Thx.

Didn't we jack Guardado earlier this year too?

Here's an idea for Paulie's new contract, make it more attendance based. Sorry, Paulie the Sox only drew to 50% capacity this year, so you only get 50% of your cash. Still want the bandwagoners to stay home?

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) A die-hard Sox fan doesn't go around jumping on and off at the slightest hint of adversity, in my opinion... I won't argue that. A play-hard Sox player doesn't give a toss, IMO.
-
People will jump on and off bandwagons for every team in every sport, including the Sox. That's just fans in general. WTF is Konerko gonna do about it? Instead of trying to tell the fans what to do, how about putting that piano down before you run the bases Paul? Or hitting more meaningful, clutch HRs or RBIs.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) I once took swings during gym class against a friend of mine in HS that threw 100 mph. We were just screwing around, but he was throwing his hardest. I was terrified because he never had any control, and I was just throwing the bat out there while trying to get away from the plate. I'll never do it again. I don't know if I've ever been more scared. That kid hit plenty of people. Reminds me of this. A few years ago, when Clemens was with the Yankees, I was behind a fence, right behind him as he was warming up at the Cell. At one point, this guy, not sure what he did for the team, stood in as a hitter. What was strange is the guy wasn't holding a bat or WEARING A BATTING HELMET. He just stood at the plate, holding his arms up as if he were holding a bat and let Clemens throw like 20 pitches to the catcher. Is this a common practice?

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) Matt Anderson? That's him. That MF'r threw the Sox like 7 pitches in a row that were at least 100. I think he hit 101 a few times. Anyone else remember that? I'm surpised that guy is still throwing. He's a skinny guy and you could see that it took every ounce of energy on every pitch. Crazy.

QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 07:19 AM) Weezer is such a fun show. Not cause the band has a huge presence on stage or anything, but because the crowd will sing along to every song. It's so awesome to be in that kind of environment. Plus they'll bring their big W. LOL, yep Geek rock at it's finest.

Chicago White Sox 2005: The Season
LosMediasBlancas replied to the People's Champ's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) I thought we were going to have a dynasty during the early 2000s with the young talent we had. Those yearly failures since makes you appreciate any time you can get into the playoffs. How's that Cubs dynasty with Wood and Prior going? With the Indians being loaded with young, terrific players...this is the year to win the AL Central! Yep, I always say that of all the major sports, baseball is the toughest one to repeat in. Wiht the exception of the Yankees and Braves, most teams get a real legitimate shot once every 5 years or so. When it's there, you gotta go for it. -
Chicago White Sox 2005: The Season
LosMediasBlancas replied to the People's Champ's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is no dynasty. This team is overachieving and it will NOT happen next year, not unless we get more offense somehow and I mean a LOT of it. That being said, I don't see why they can't ride whatever it is they've been riding so far all the way to the WS this year. -
Would that be the 1st time?

QUOTE(GoSoxGo @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) No one knows yet. Crede himself seems to think it may be bad because he said his hand went completely numb after he got hit. "Latest News Aug. 25, 2005 - 9:23 pm et Joe Crede injured his right middle finger on a bunt attempt in the 10th inning today and will have X-rays tomorrow. Pablo Ozuna will play third base if Crede needs to miss some time." I would feel bad for Mr. Crede if he's injured, but I'm ready to try someone else there for a while. I'd sacrifice some D for about 20 pts. of batting average.

I didn't wanna read 4 pages, is Cruddy's, err I mean Mr. Crede's finger ok??

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) i agree, Didnt he go 3 innings in that extra inning fiasco against the Twins last week? I MEANT TOO MANY PITCHES TO THE SAME HITTER IN 1 AB. USUALLY A PITCHER WILL LOSE THOSE LONG BATTLES.
