  1. Wow, no respect. The guy was actually in the room. :headshake GOOD LUCK B-MAC!
  2. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:41 AM) I know the guy that put this promotion into their heads same guy that proposed half way to St. Pat's night. There is a stereotypical promo for the south side if there ever was one His idea was to have Ligue bottlehead night and mullet night. I think it is funny, cub fans by the way would eat this promo up, see 70's night. This is baseball not polo enjoy it, geez the way you guys are acting you would think it was pedofile night where everyone dressed as a clown gets in for free. How about shirtless, tatooed 'meth head' foot races? The finish line could be a manequin dressed in an ump's uniform? First guy to get 4 punches in wins. :headshake
  3. I know what they're trying to do, but I think it's a very, bad idea. Just wait for the backlash from all the haters.
  4. Will someone open and post this? Is this an old story? Thx http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/4805238
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) it was probably the "vessel" he drank out of . . . wow.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) With Oakland's recent slide, I'd say they're on their way out of the playoff picture. The Sox are in good position to make a push in September. And if the A's don't make it, I don't see a better pitching staff in the AL than the Sox, and that includes minny. Oakland and the Sox are both 2-8 in their last 10 games. As you say, if Oakland s***s the bed and doesn't make the playoffs, the cards would be aligning themselves very nicely for the Sox. All they have to do now is check nuts and use last night as possibly their last chance at a wake up call. As Paulie said, if they don't take something away from last night and (God forbid) lose the division, then f*** em. It'll go one extreme or the other.
  7. That's f***ed up. Where was a bat boy gonna get $500.00? What kind of a f***ball makes that kind of bet with a kid? Where's Penny's suspension?
  8. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) That's it? Oh, yeah. IN. But fading. Pullin out?
  9. Congrats and welcome the the club!
  10. Konerko's quote is about halfway down the article and I agree 100%. Last night's loss will be the turning point for this team. We will find out exactly what the 2005 Chicago White Sox are made of. One of two extremes will happen. They will either feel completely demoralized and continue in this slump, or they will get fired up and go on a tear. I don't think you'll see a .500 team the rest of the year. You're gonna see one extreme or the other. Book it. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sports/cst-spt-sox24.html
  11. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Not too many jazz fans at Sox Talk are there? Miles Davis was born in 1926 in Alton, Illinois and raised in East St. Louis. His parents were educated and fairly well to do, his dad a dentist and his mother an accomplished musician. Miles Davis, trumpet player extrordinaire, was one of the most influential jazz artists in the history of the genre. Versatile, he had success in a variety of jazz idioms from bop to fusion. Illinois has produced many great jazz artists, among them, Nat King Cole, Dinah Washington, Gene Ammons, Johnny Griffin, AACM, Benny Goodman, Eddie Harris, Gene Krupa, Ramsey Lewis, Von Freeman, Judy Roberts and many more. I kinda follow jazz, I just didn't know THAT. Cool little bit of info.
  12. I think the guy is the best actor in his age group, period. I don't care what his politics are. I'm a Sean Penn fan because he is amazing at what he does for a living. His views are no less valid or important than anyone else's. He's a frickin actor, not an elected official.
  13. QUOTE(Moose78 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) We just put an excerpt of this up on my site, thought I would share it with you guys over here, its the Bonds part where he asked Barry to sign something for a charity auction. You can read the rest if interested: http://www.chicagosportsday.com/news/chicago/1124436091.html Kittle was gonna kick Bond's ass???!! Really kick this s*** out of him??!! ....obviously this book is fiction.
  14. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) I just wish people would stop this fiction of Ross Gload as a good defensive player... He's below average at worst, mediocorely average at his best... However i'm not against calling him up to platoon in the DH role or play 1B if Paulie really needs a day off... I'll take my chances with Gload in the field in order to get his bat in the line up. I said the same thing about C. Everett when people were saying he should never play the field because he's a butcher and would single handedly cost us 20 games blah blah blah. I know he hasn't been out there much, but he's done an OK job.
  15. How about the obese? From what I understand, most of them don't have a 'glandular' condition or an actual clinical 'addiction' to eating. You don't wake up one morning and suddenly you're 200 lbs overweight. Don't they eat themselves to obesity by choice? At least a smoker can say they became addicted. Thoughts?
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Crede could do with an entire month off. I thought him and Juanito HAVE been taking a month off.
  17. ESPN is a whore.... and a lazy one at that. Why take the time to make sure the piece is done right, when you can take the easy way out and go with what's 'popular' and turn it into a Cubs spoogefest. by the way....I had no idea Miles Davis was born in Illinois...what city?
  18. Oh, I thought it was in the city. If I'm ever lost in the burbs, I'll hit it up.
  19. I'll try it, where exactly is Carm's?
  20. If you had to guess at the exact dates, when would the 1st round playoff games be played at the Cell? The season ends on Sunday, Oct. 2nd. Assuming all the playoffs teams have been determined, is Tuesday, Oct. 4th a good guess?
  21. Seems fair to me. You can't pick and choose only the benefits. You get the whole deal.
  22. OK, so he's never gonna be a sportswriter, but it's nice to have a toally biased Sox fan with his own column. http://www.suntimes.com/output/roeper/cst-nws-roep23.html
  23. They did a 'let's get Bartman out of hiding' piece and nothing about the Sox.
