Buerhle's comments, regardind Indians Series
LosMediasBlancas replied to Bias's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I feel you Bias. We all know the situation and the possiblilities, we just don't want to hear it coming from a player's mouth. Of course a player should be aware of possibly losing, but it should be the last thing on your mind. First comes thinking about it, then accepting it and then it sometimes actually happens. -
Why exactly is there no TV on Sat.? What is this about a 3:00 pm curfew?

I don't know a lot about the scouts, so you'll have to excuse the question. Are these boys already boy scouts who want to also be girl scouts?...or boys who would rather be girl scouts? I assume both gropus offer different things and the differences are probably gender based. Besides 'why not?' why would a boy want to be a girl scout?

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Also, the Sox have been struggling most of the 2nd half, as they just haven't been playing very good/smart baseball. On the other hand, it was in a matter of about 25 GLORIOUS hours that saw the Cubs choke away Games 6 and 7. Are you saying that since the Sox are falling apart slowly and over a long period of time, it can't be called a choke?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Yeah....no one cares about the White Sox in the national media, while the Cubs 2003 team was a travelling circus. I think Cubs fans will have a lot harder time getting over their collapse than us Sox fans would if this team doesn't make the playoffs. I'm not talking about how tough it is to get over it, just which would be a bigger choke.

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) I agree with your point, and to take it even further...imo, it's much easier to lose a 3-1 lead in the NLCS than it is to lose a 15 game lead in less than 2 months or 5 games off your lead in a f***ing week or dominate an entire half of the season only to fall flat on your f***ing faces for 80+ games. As a manager, it's difficult to get a team on track in a matter of 3-4 days (playoffs and Dusty), whereas a manager who has 3 months to get a team straight and fails to do so has proven his inability to manage effectively (Oz). Incidentally, I fully approved of Oz's hiring. I thought he brought everything that Manuel didn't bring to the table. He does have the fire, but apparently that wasn't all that our White Sox needed to succeed. The 2 chokes aren't even in the same ball parks of comparison.

QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) During the pregame interview with Konerko today, he just looked plain tired. DJ asked him a couple questions about the clubhouse and he kind of sighed and said they weren't all that happy right now. And this is coming from the only guy who seems to be playing well...it certainly looks as if the Sox players may be growing tired of Ozzie's act already. I'm telling you, this chemistry crap is over. Besides the obvious, something is wrong behind closed doors.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) just hang on and hope the ride's a fun one Remember about a month ago when Freddy lost that 1 hitter on a HR against Santana? I said then it would be the turning point for this team. They were either gonna catch fire and run away with the division, or lay down and die. Since then,I've seen few signs of life. With the lead down to 4.5, the ride has already gotten fun.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) It's not? These guys have thrown so many pitches all year because of Ozzie's long hook, who knows if they would have had more left in the tank for the stretch run. While Ozzie has gone out of his way to rest a lot of guys like Iguchi, he's been using his starting pitchers an awful lot in regards to number of pitches. However, all the blame for this should not be on Ozzie. This is a full organizational collapse. BTW, we're 1-6 since the players b****ed about attendance. I get the feeling this chemistry crap went out the window recently. I don't know what might have triggered it, but the whole team looks tense, flat and defeated. Hawk has that sound to his voice again. He'll never tell us what's up, but he doesn't need to.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) I agree with you 100%. If they don't make the playoffs, it will set this franchise back a few years. 'a few' is optimistic.
-
I'll overreact for ya. If we miss the post season, the future of the franchise is in trouble. You don't really believe THIS Sox team will repeat next year do you? You thought there couldn't be a bigger choke than the Cubs a few years ago? You think people don't come to the park now?....and we've been in 1st all year long!! You think we play second fiddle to the Cubs now? You think we get no love from the local, not to mention the national media now? Stock up on booze and painkillers, it's gonna be a wild two and half weeks.

QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) review review review I'll try to piece BJM together. I realized they have one song. One 20 minute song. One 20 minute song, that they play 8 times. Fun, but gets kinda tiring. Besides, their singer's insanity and 10 minute rants between songs get boring quickly. The High Dials were one of the openers. Very solid performers, with 2 records under their belt.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) I tried just for fun and had the chance to buy 2 in sect. 538, row 7 for game one, but I decided a while back that I'd rather watch the playoffs on TV so I didn't order them. Call me crazy, but I woulda bought them and sold them to someone at Sox Talk.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) for anyone that did not get tickets, including myself, there are a ton of them on ebay already. I have bought many tickets off of ebay in the past and have never had a problem. did you see the bidding prices for them? HA. Anyone even gettting singles? I see nothing left.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) What would your wife think of that She's a Cub fan, so she never figured into the plans in the first place. Well, I guess it's scalper/broker/stub hub/ time.

Sigh, no luck, as expected. I even got greedy and looked for singles.

I recently read that there is no point to anything more than 1 blade on a shaver. I'm thinking about getting an electric one for X-Mas. Don't want to get stiffed with one that doesn't shave close.
