  1. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Let's see here. We cannot win at home anymore. We can't win at Fenway. We can't beat Oakland. Vlad and K-rod are now healthy for Anaheim. Kenny will not find us another big bat. Um yeah...I really like our chances. I am now the official king of pessimism. ......don't forget that rumor has Mike Sweeney going to Anaheim real soon.
  2. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Kenneth Branagh Philip Seymour Hoffman Talk about answering the question the right way, Phillip Seymour Hoffman??!! Folks, we have ourselves a winner. Someone throw his pic up please.
  3. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) This doesn't sound to promising. He also went on to say that if someone offers the Reds a #1 ace and they go ahead and make the deal, the press will call him a liar. So, basically, if that is the asking prcie, there is no chance for us to land him. Of course, according to his column today, in Mariotti's brain, this means we can get it done and all KW has to do, I gather, is give up Mark B, that's all. Why do we just not get it?
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Sorry, didn't notice people ripping my original post. My point was not that I had already declared victory for this stretch, but the fact that we held a 14 game lead in our division when it started... That made it seem a lot less scary, and it still does as we are 2-5 in this stretch. What you wrote was clear to me, I didn't bump it to rip on it. Can't speak for anyone else.
  5. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) I was thinking about this thread this morning when I checked the score (fell asleep around the 13th). The sky is not falling, but this stretch is going just as some people thought it might go. I've been waiting for it all year. Interesting.
  6. Nuke, I got 3 things for you brother: 1. Joo born weet too teengs een dees leyfe: joo wor end joo bolz, end joo no brake needer wahn foh nobotty. 2. firs, joo get da moneh, den joo get da powah, DEN joo get da weemen. 3. Have a good one, bottoms up :puke :sleep
  7. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) They are both acting like immature children. Including today's remarks by Mariotti that "Sammy Sosa also cleared waivers, but there's a better chance of Harrelson being invited to my next party, even if Metamucil is served as an appetizer." Grow up guys! Saw that this morning, great line, it killed me.
  8. Hell yeah! 'Big Bobby' Jenks will be a post season hero.
  9. "Jesus". When I was younger, I had really long hair and a full, messy goatee, plus I was thin. Plus, I always 'think' I know what I'm talking about. My closest friends would call me that. None any more.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Bruce Levine keeps mentioning Dimitri Young. OMG, as in...."Gee, it'd be nice to have Young"? Where does he get this stuff?
  11. http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/3886536?GT1=6773 Wow, I didn't know this about Steve Kerr. Ignore the crap on here about the Sox.
  12. My vote is for Juanito, not only for captain, but also as player/hitting coach.
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) We have a guy here at work who would drink anywhere from a 12 pack to a case of Coke a day. Then one day, while we were all sitting, my boss looks over at him, and he is out in space, not moving, not responding or anything. We called an ambulance in and he was rushed to the hospital. As it turns out, he decided to quit the Coke cold turkey, and his system went into shock! They gave him a can of Coke while in the hospital, and he started to come around. wow, wonder what his body was addicted to exactly. all pop is poison by the way.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) That's still not the point. It is demeaning and insensitive. We'll have to agree to disagree.
  15. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) So, you're saying that if I tried a little harder I could be a genius? I'm medicore at 3 cups, imagine if I gave it up.
  16. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) I was at last night's game (my 10th of the year with 4 more to go) and the way Paulie tried to coast into second on what seemed like a for sure double was disgusting. The ball went off the wall, the LF threw to the SS, who threw to 3B who attempted to tag Carl and then threw to 2B to throw Paulie's slow ass out. That would have been 2nd and 3rd no out. Ozzie benched Uribe for not running out a fly ball a few weeks ago, he should sit Pualie for the same thing. And while he's at it, sit Crede for not taking out thier catcher on that play at home. I was there too. He wasn't sure if the throw was going to 2nd or 3rd and he froze in between, then started again and of course got thrown out.
  17. They must be assuming all 160+ have died.
  18. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) I bring a thermos to work everyday. Coffee (the caffeine) doesn't do anything for me. I can drink 20 cups and go straight to bed. On the weekends, during the winter, I drink coffee from the moment I wake until I go to sleep at night. I just keep adding coffee into the strainer and water to the machine. I have a system. ..and I thought I was a hardcore coffe drinker.
  19. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) Rooney and Farmer > Hawk I can't stand the guy and I hope Mariotti hands him his ass in the coming days. I for one will support such an event. He's got an ego bigger than the state of Texas. Sheeeeeeeeeit, ain't no way that Farmer>Hawk. I'm not a fan of either, but I can tolerate Hawk. You wanna talk about an ego? Farmer doesn't do broadcasts, he does sermons. We should be thankful that we're blessed with his infinate baseball wisdom.
  20. Keep up the good work Hawk and Ozzie, keep the press and media scrutiny off of the players .......sure wish it was helping though.
  21. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) I drink 10+ cups of coffee a day during the winter, but completely give it up in the summer. Beer...that's a year round season for me. Jesus, 10+ ???!!! Why not just have an I.V. hooked up??
  22. Very tough decision, but I'd give up beer. I could always get my buzz off of some other kind of alcohol. There is NO substitute for a coffee buzz, without it I don't function.
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) The tribune today basically reports that a deal is on the table right now for the Reds to accept. Griffey ....and the Sun Times has K Dubs saying probably not.
