  1. I hear ya, but really it would be far worse if he went to a team within our division.
  2. We might never know those details. you make a good point, I would think there would be something illegal about an athlete going outside of the organization for medical advice, not to mention major knee surgery.
  3. the same article states the Boras PROVIDED A COPY OF THE E MAIL from Weil giving Maggs the name of the Dr. in Vienna. Let's see the Sox spin it to try to distance themselves from Weil.
  4. The plot thickens, Bruce Levine said last night that 'after a Jan. open workout, don't be surprised to see Maggs playing left field for the Cubs'. The Cubs are rumored to be upping their payrioll to over 100 mil, so I belive there would be room for Maggs for a year even if they get stuck with Sammy. Maggs said going to the Cubs would be 'really, really, nice.'
  5. I agree on the 1st part.
  6. Always the cynic, 1st of all, it sounds like BS from Kenny to make it seem like Dye wanted to play here soooooooo badly, that he turned down more cash. 2nd of all, if it's true, then basically Kenny got lucky.
  7. Tex, good points and think see what you're saying, but IMO in terms of specifically hitting a baseball, ability is far more important than size. So yes, you can seperate size and ability. If a guy could theoretically take a substance that would give him better hitting ability, that would be wrong. Now in football, size is equally if not more important than ability, so roids factor in a lot more.
  8. Anyone hearing the Cubs are in talks with Boras about Maggs for 1 year?? He will supposedly either replace Sammy, if they can unload him on the Mets or he will play left to replace Alou. All the Cubs fans in my office are all geeked up about it.
  9. Senseless, but not surprising. How often are you searched at big stadium events? Think about it, what if those clowns who ran on the field at the Cell had been packing?
  10. do they have any 'roam around the park' restrcitions, like at the Cell?
  11. I have found that most people end up the EXACT the opposite of what they were in HS. All the jocks end up fat and miserable, the 'cool crowd' burns out, the 'weird' kids end up involved in the Arts and make good money, the 'nerdy' kids become techys or work in a lab somewhere making obscene amounts of $$. HS will be forgotten by your 1st day in College.
  12. It states he used it to 'get him aroused', what do you think Jackson's plan was once the kid became aroused?
  13. sweet! on sale date??
  14. I can't get onto the MLB site lately. What are the exact dates when the Sox will be playing in SD? When do those Padres tickets go on sale? Any help would be appreciated, thx.
  15. So, what happens to Borchard? Think he'll be packaged up for an arm??
  16. well, what's the verdict? signed or not signed?
  17. We won't, we'll be outbid by someone. Then JR and KW will look around and think: "wow, I guess you gotta overpay if you really wnat a guy huh"
  18. Thom, and when another team outbids us on Renteria, then what?
  19. If you really want a guy, sometimes you have to over pay.
  20. Or at least wait until all of your food has been served. You don't want to know the stuff that happens to rude people's food. The funny part is thos people walk out of the restaurant with that 'Ha, well I guess I told them' look about them.
  21. When I was in HS, I had a part time job conducting phone surveys. Whenever someone was rude to us, we'd put their name back into the 'call later' list. Someone else would call them back within a few days. All we did was play dumb and say: "I'm sorry, I have no idea how you got back on the list, let me take your name off", sure enough they went right back on. It's never wise to be rude to people who can become pests or worse yet, people who have 'access' to your food, i.e. waitstaff.
  22. Did I hear the Yankees signed, or are close to signing Jaret Wright?
  23. Yeah, but you still gotta put the bat on the ball. He gets an average of one 'hittable' pitch per at bat. So instead of hitting a 350 foot homer, he hits it 400 ft. big F'n deal. It takes a lot more than size to hit HRs, lots of big guys can't hit for s***.
  24. He's gonna have to go the Bo Jackson route or he's gonna be miserable after he retires.
