  1. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) What do you guys think? Especially all of you in the greater Chicagoland area. Would the 2016 Olympics enhance the city's reputation as as a world class city, or would it be such a hassle that you'd rather it not happen? Chicago IS world class, not neccessary.
  2. LosMediasBlancas replied to Chisoxfn's topic in SLaM
Jack Black has never been funny in anything. That should have the first clue.
  3. Phelps is not the best swimmer ever because: He doesn't swim the anchor in the relays. He can't win the 50 m freestyle, which supposedly is THE event in swimming. More events have been added since the 70's, events that Spitz could have also won had they been available during his time. I know very little about Olympic swimming, but the above are some interesting points that I've heard during these events. It's easy to write these critics off as 'haters', but is there any merit to this??
  4. There is a small taco joint on 59th and Pulaski called 'Zacatacos'. It's a s***hole, but they have the best tacos around, period. I heard they opened a downtown location near Wabash and Madison. If the quality and price are like that of the original, then it is THE best dt spot. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) Iam sure its been posted already in this thread but I dont want to read through everything. For Chad Johnson to say that he could seriously beat Phelps in swimming is such a f***ing joke.I like Chad but sometimes I just wanna trip him while he has scissors in his hands. It was a joke. The problem is, it's not funny and neither are all of his other attempts at humor. Always trying to steal the limelight, what a douche.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) Today I was just thinking back to 7th grade when I got my face punched in.It was during a basketball game for my school,we were playing St.Gabriel and I was standing at the free throw line. This meathead goone said I was chewing my gum like a horse and I said it was from his mothers mouth. It didnt go over so well with him so as we are running back to the other end of the court he punches me on the right side of my face.It was totally a cheap shot but by judging how hard the punch was and the damage it did it wouldnt have made any difference if we were looking at each other face to face.I turned back around and he was gone with both team benches laughing hysterically at what happened. My right eye and cheek swelled up to were it looked like I was growing another head.I stayed in the game and had to swallow my pride the rest of the way.I still hold some hatred towards the douche,I gotta say.But if I seen him I would probably run because my cheek bone still hurts to this day if I press on it.I hope you guys have some funny stories. I'm glad you got over it, because it's a sad story. Why exactly were your own team mates laughing at you getting punched in the face??
  7. IMO Gooch was the most versatile player on the 05 squad. On offense, there was nothing he couldn't do well to extremely well.
  8. "It was something like supposed to be funny or something but never offensive in any way," Spain's Pau Gasol, center for the Los Angeles Lakers, said. "I'm sorry if anybody thought or took it the wrong way and thought that it was offensive." I guess it's the people who take offense to the photo that have the problem. Nice job Gasol, wonder how L.A. fans and media will react to it when he's back.
  9. QUOTE (SoCalSouthSider59 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) Absolutely! Sometimes you have to spare no expense, (but i won't pay 40 bux for a Kobe beef burger, lol) to get a really good one from time to time....... Red Robin's Monster Burger's pretty good too, love the bottomless steak fries as well.......... Everyone out here raves about Red Robin, so I finally tried one and was very dissapointed. We had overall bad service and the place was kinda dirty too, I bet it varies from location to location.
  10. Could you make an argument for putting this guy on the bust list as well? Or was one good year enough?
  11. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 11:38 PM) Why do I feel like every Chinese athlete is on steroids? It seems like the host country always does well, no?
  12. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) I forgot a coach/gm to manage this club of goofs! GM- Hawk Harrleson (Love the Hawk but dude, Firing LaRussa. Tell me u were drunk?) MG- Terry Bevington (Not really "high profile" but none of our managers were. This guy....this guy...) Bev was entertaining.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) He said to "SHUT UP LOS MEDIAS BLANCAS" Nice
  14. So what did Sirotka's personal assistant have to say in those e mail replies?
  15. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) What about Crazy Carl? He was a pretty big name and never really did much with us. I disagree, Jurassic was solid. Kinda streaky, but nowhere near as streaky as Konerko. I'll never forget his prediction that the Sox would flop in 06 after he left. Oh s*** and where is this classic Everett quote from? "shut yer mouths, shut yer mouths"
  16. I believe it's because of the heavy Irish influence in the city's history, how about referring to your mother as "My Mah".
  17. I'm still pissed about David Wells. I've never felt like a player disrespected the team and the fans more than he did by basically taking a year off, getting paid well, not giving a s*** and admitting it.
  18. How about the different ways we say 'you'. Eat it, it's good for ya. Let me setcha up with a couple of tickets to the game. How about the way we try shorten 'that would be' into 'that'd be', and it ends up sounding like: "Let me see if we can upgrade your seat. Wow, that be great, thx." I have a million of them. People out here point things out to me all the time.
  19. QUOTE (SoCalSouthSider59 @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) On the West Coast, Johnny Rockets, Rubys, Fat Burger, and In N Out, in that order, do it for me....... You Chicagoans are in for a treat, order the Double King Fat, charbroiled, (you can get them charbroiled or grilled, at least at the one by my house you can) with extra grilled onions, mmmmmmm.......... Yeah, but those places you mention are a step up from fast food. I would expect to get a better burger there.
  20. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) Since moving to Texas, and trying one, I have rarely ever gone to any other burger chain. A friend of mine who lives in Houston would always talk about it. I finally saw one in Tucson (I think) when I went to ST and man there is NO better fast food burger. I reiterate, for the price and for a chain.
  21. Whataburger for a fast food place and the price, cannot be beaten. Carl's Jr and their $10.00 burger can rub me. Jack In The Box is poison.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/b...?urn=oly,100152 I believe it was a Spanish crowd who a few years ago mocked a visiting black soccer player by scratching themselves and making monkey sounds.
  23. Back to Chicago, anyone use the word 'front room' to describe the living room?...and the pronunciation sounds like 'french room'?
  24. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 08:32 AM) Whatdown joe? I call them bussdowns... and how does that mean easy?
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 11:57 AM) arms are not supposed to do that. Looks like ptact's avy. I always wonder why that doesn't happen more often. One of the first things you learn when working out is to never lock out your ams on push excersises. Yet in the clean and jerk, not only do they have to lock out, but have to hold it for a couple of seconds. Muy malo. Why does Phelps not swim the anchor in relay events??
